Please Spare Me A Tail [Apocalypse]

Lu Ye was still a little dumbfounded. He understood the literal meaning, that Bai Xiaohu’s other pair of ears had popped out.

He also understood her actions. On the top of her head, another pair of ears was hidden under where the fat black chicken was sitting, a pair of ears that could not be seen by others. Because she could not find a hat, she could only use the chicken to cover it.

But… even if she said he was a cat, even if she indirectly admitted that she was not a human, suddenly telling him that she was indeed not a human, and another pair of ears appearing on her head was still hard to believe.

He looked where she placed her hand and vaguely saw a little whiteness, thin and short fluffs, which looked similar to cat ears.

Lu Ye’s heartbeat suddenly accelerated, and he was a little dizzy. Bai Xiaohu was worried. She turned around and saw that he seemed not to hear what she said. She bumped him with her arm: “Did you hear me?”

“Ah? I heard it.” Lu Ye was dumbfounded, but he was good at gathering himself. He quickly recovered and said seriously: “Give me a minute, I’ll find you a hat.”

Bai Xiaohu said: “I need one that is bigger, not like a peaked cap.”

“Okay.” He got up and took a step, but immediately turned back: “It’s windy, don’t squat here, go to my room.”

His room was next to hers. Although the outer wall was also covered by insects, they were all dead now. The rest were either still tirelessly crawling into the brazier or sealed underground. Bai Xiaohu hesitated and nodded.

After entering his room, she said: “Go and come back quickly.”

Lu Ye nodded and left quickly. Bai Xiaohu sat by his bed. She had permission to enter this room however she liked before. The man’s room was clean and tidy. At first glance, it looked like no one lived there. There was nothing to avoid, so she came in casually.

At this moment, she was sitting alone on the bed, swinging the flashlight in her hand making the light beam fluctuate, while she continued to look in her spatial treasure for something that could treat insect bites.

After a while, Lu Ye returned with a white knitted hat decorated with a piece of artificial fur and small diamonds in his hand.

Bai Xiaohu looked at the hat, which was pretty, wide, and big enough to cover the ears, so she took off the big chicken on her head.

Lu Ye opened his eyes wide, and the big white cat squatting beside the bed also opened its eyes wide and stretched its neck.

In Bai Xiaohu’s black, soft, and fluffy hair, a pair of ears emerged from her head. As the fat chicken demon got taken away, the ears that were flattened stood up. It looked pointed, white, and fluffy, not very big, petite, and very adorable.

Lu Ye was a little distracted, thinking: she is not a human, she is also a spirit, no wonder she is sure that he is a spirit. She is cute even if she is not human, but it seems that those are not cat ears, which animal’s ears are they?

He was also wondering, can I touch them? Just a second is enough.

But Bai Xiaohu did not actively invite him to touch them, and Lu Ye… The man stood aside looking seriously and solemnly and did not even dare to look directly at the ears, very polite and gentlemanly. The desire to touch the ears was not shown on his face at all.

One did not say it, and the other was a little shy when her ears were seen, and would not mention it, so touching the ears was of course impossible.

Seeing the ears get covered again by the hat, Lu Ye felt a little regretful.

Bai Xiaohu saw that he seemed a little strange, so she asked, “Is it a little strange to have fluffy ears on a human head?”

Lu Ye immediately said, “No, it’s adorable.”

Bai Xiaohu pursed her lips and pressed down the lifting corners of her mouth, her eyes bright, being praised for being cute… She also thought her ears were cute, or that there was nothing about her original form that was not cute, especially the tail… It’s a pity her tail is gone, and she can’t show it off.

Bai Xiaohu felt a little sad when she thought of this.

Lu Ye asked, “Then when will your… ears shrink back?”

Bai Xiaohu touched the top of her head: “It will probably be fine after a while, maybe?”

Her cultivation is not as good as before, and her spirit core is damaged, so her human form is not particularly stable. She was frightened once before, and her ears popped out, but that time she immediately pressed her ears back. This time she was overstimulated and she couldn’t take it back for a while.

She then thought, fortunately, the tail was gone, otherwise if nine big tails were exposed, it would be impossible to hide.

Oh, if the tails were still there, she wouldn’t be so unstable that she couldn’t even keep her human form.

Bai Xiaohu thought about it over and over again, sometimes sad and sometimes relaxed, and then she remembered the business.

“Your hand!” She pulled over Lu Ye’s hand, fortunately it didn’t get worse. She found a kind of herb in the space, took it out, rubbed it into crumbs with her hands, and applied it to the wound: “I was bitten by insects before, and I remember that my second brother applied this to me. I don’t know if this will work on your wound.”

Lu Ye relaxed his hand for her to experiment, and asked tentatively: “You have two brothers?”

Bai Xiaohu nodded: “Yes, they spoil me the most, but unfortunately, I’m alone now.”

Her voice lowered, her long eyelashes trembled, and her fair skin looked as fragile as ice and snow about to melt in the dim light.

Lu Ye couldn’t help but reach out and touch her face.

Bai Xiaohu looked up in surprise. Lu Ye calmly put a strand of hair from her face to the back, looking at her calmly and gently.

Bai Xiaohu got shy, avoided eye contact, lowered her head, and continued to apply the medicine. Suddenly, she couldn’t help but want to confide: “When they were here, I had no worries at all, and I didn’t have to be concerned about anything. I was very stupid when I was a child, oh, and I’m still a little stupid after I grew up. Although I don’t want to admit it, I know I am indeed a little stupid. Mom and Dad are worried that I will be bullied. They said I have to suffer a little and learn to grow up. My brothers said they would protect me for life, so there’s no need.”

It’s just that many things in the world are not as expected. She overestimated herself and thought she could take on the responsibilities that she should bear as the little princess of the Nine-tailed White Fox Clan. In the end, she couldn’t control herself and caused trouble. Her parents and brothers tried their best to minimize the situation for her, so her life was saved and she just couldn’t leave the Baishou Mountain.

Now think about it, she is really stupid.

She sniffed. Lu Ye panicked a little and whispered, “Don’t cry.”

Bai Xiaohu said sullenly, “I’m not going to. I just saw you and thought of my brother. I think you are very similar to my eldest brother. He is solemn and always has a stern face. Oh, speaking of which, you two don’t seem that similar. You are not that serious.”

“Then you are a bit like my father. He always looks indifferent, but he is very fierce and powerful in a fight. No one can beat him. Oh, he is a bit irritable. My mother said he is a bit stupid and does things without thinking. I inherited my bad brain from him. So you two aren’t that similar too.”

“Then you are more like my mother. No matter what I do, she will always stand by me gently and tell me everything is going to be ok. She will handle it all.”

Bai Xiaohu sniffed again and took Lu Ye’s hand: “It would be great if you were them.”

Lu Ye: “.…..”

Lu Ye almost couldn’t keep his composure when he heard this. He has no will to have three jobs at once, and he especially didn’t want to remind her of her parents, okay?!

He couldn’t help but say, “I’m not like your second brother?”

Bai Xiaohu thought for a moment and shook her head: “My second brother is extra good-looking and always smiling, but in fact, he has bad ideas in his mind and likes to trick people.”

Lu Ye didn’t know whether to suspect that she was implying that he was not good-looking, or to thank her for thinking he was upright and would not trick people.

However, after saying this, he also had a general understanding of her family.

It was a warm and happy family with different characteristics in each family member.

It must be heartbroken to be protected by such a family and now be alone.

He felt sorry for her, but Bai Xiaohu didn’t continue the topic. Not sure if it is because she was frightened, causing her human shape and spirit to be unstable, she talked about a lot of things she would never spill easily all at once.

She looked at the back of Lu Ye’s hand which was coated with a thick layer of green herb residue: “What does it feel like?”

Lu Ye returned his attention to the back of his hand and suddenly felt very cool, and the pain, itching, and numbness were completely dispelled. He immediately expressed his feelings. Bai Xiaohu was very happy: “It’s good that it’s useful.”

Then she frowned: “Why do you think those insects all went for the brazier?”

Lu Ye knew she didn’t want to continue the previous topic, so he also talked about insects: “Those insects are mutated. We can compare them to zombies. For zombies, as long as they find a living person, they will chase them desperately.”

“But zombies chase living people to eat them. Do insects run into the brazier to eat fire?”

Bai Xiaohu suddenly exclaimed: “Could it be that they were attracted by the aroma of chicken, and they are willing to be burned to death to have a bite?”

This inference… is not impossible.

The two returned to the room next door and saw all the insects died. Except for those who died on the road, all the others ran into the brazier, so the smell was a bit strange, it smelled like burnt protein.

Lu Ye poked the brazier and found a black round lump inside, which was obviously a chicken wrapped in mud. Then he noticed that although there was only a little firewood, it still hadn’t burned out after burning for so long, and the flame was very stable, and the wind could not extinguish it.

He asked: “What kind of branch is this?”

“I got it from my spatial treasure, a general branch that can burn for a long time, so I simply named it firewood tree.” Bai Xiaohu did not hide it from him.

Lu Ye’s eyes flickered slightly, thinking, the cause must be either the chicken or the branch. As for which one, they will know after experimenting.
