Please Spare Me A Tail [Apocalypse]

They were supposed to leave for the base the next day, but a strong wind blew in the middle of the night, and the wind was even stronger the next day. The city had been abandoned for more than half a year, and the buildings had not been maintained for a long time, so they were in disrepair. There were also many dangerous objects blowing in the sky. From here and there, the outer walls of random buildings were blown off, various billboards shaking and falling, so they couldn’t move.

Bai Xiaohu sat inside looking at the gloomy sky outside. The wind was howling. She saw a small tree bent by the wind, and it seemed that it would break in the next moment. She exclaimed in amazement: “The wind is so strong!”

Lu Ye just came in from outside. Hearing this, he said to her: “This is a typhoon.”

“Typhoon?”

“A tropical cyclone.” After briefly explaining the formation of a typhoon, Lu Ye’s face was the same as always. After going through some stages of a psychological journey in private last night, he quickly calmed down and did not show a single thing in front of Bai Xiaohu. “No one expected this typhoon. The base weather station has begun to operate and predict the path of this typhoon. Ningcheng should only be temporarily affected. We just need to wait patiently for it to pass.”

Speaking of this, Lu Ye was actually not very relieved. Ningcheng was not in a high-incidence area of typhoons. In previous years, it was only affected once or twice, just a little wind and rain, but this time it was obviously coming with great force. Bai Xiaohu nodded: “You got anything going on right now?”

“No.”

Bai Xiaohu happily said: “Then let’s practice cultivation.”

Lu Ye was dragged to practice for a whole day, sitting cross-legged throughout, and in the end, his legs were almost not his own.

Bai Xiaohu helped him pound his muscles, sighed, and said: “Is it because you are too old? You are stiff after sitting for a long time.”

Lu Ye’s whole body froze for a moment, too old.…..

Bai Xiaohu said again: “Your aptitude is too poor when you are in human form. After half a night of yesterday and half a day today, you still haven’t touched the threshold.”

Poor aptitude… This is the first time Lu Ye has received such an evaluation. He has always been one of the outstanding people in the crowd. “But it doesn’t matter. Nothing is unachievable as long as you persist. You were a little dumb before too, always being bullied, but you became a very powerful cat demon later.” Bai Xiaohu realized she spoke too directly and was afraid that too many blows would affect his confidence, so she quickly added.

Always bullied…

Lu Ye really couldn’t imagine himself being bullied.

He put himself in his new identity and asked Bai Xiaohu: “When did we meet in the past? How did we meet?”

Bai Xiaohu became excited: “It was a long, long, long time ago, and not in this world. You were still an ordinary little white cat at that time. You were bullied by a group of wild cats and huddled in a tree, meowing. I heard it and drove them away, but you didn’t dare to get down from the tree. Finally, I had to climb up to bring you down.”

Bai Xiaohu recalled the past. Alas, the cat was so weak at that time. She was even looking forward to it becoming a delicate and beautiful boy with a soft and easy-to-pinch appearance after it transformed so that she could take him as a follower.

Yes, as a beauty-loving nine-tailed white fox, Bai Xiaohu’s aesthetic is the kind of a delicate and beautiful boy. However, she didn’t see him transform after they parted, and he turned into such a rough big guy when they met again.

She glanced at the person sitting next to her in the same posture as her, still had an oppressive aura and much taller than her, her look was a little disdained.

Lu Ye caught onto something: “Climb up?” He looked at Bai Xiaohu: “Are you a cat too?”

“Ahem, I’m not, we are not the same species!” Fearing that he would ask to see her original form, she hurriedly changed the subject: “I’m hungry, do you want to eat fish?”

As soon as her voice fell, the doors and windows clattered, the wind became more urgent, and someone called for Lu Ye.

Lu Ye said he had to leave, and after he left, the sky turned dark soon.

Bai Xiaohu waited for a while but didn’t see him come back. She opened a package that was apparently the military version of a vacuumed instant nutrition meal, but the taste was not really good. She began to crave some chicken, so she quietly slid the cat and the chicken into the space and let them catch a free-range chicken.

The cat was cruel, and the demon chicken also had no love for its fellows, so they quickly caught one. Bai Xiaohu let them all out, then looked at the chicken up and down, found a brazier, lit a fire, dug some wet mud from the lake in the space, wrapped the chicken, and buried it in the fire.

The three sat around the brazier, waiting attentively.

“Meow.” Is it ready?

Bai Xiaohu fiddled with it: “It shouldn’t be yet?”

“Chiu.” Is it ready to eat?

Bai Xiaohu fiddled with it again, and said with uncertainty: “Let’s burn it for a while longer.”

She snapped branches and added firewood to the brazier, and waves of faint fragrance of branches drifted out. Gusts of wind blew in from the cracks in the door, blowing the flames left and right but not extinguishing. This fire is burning on branches from the spirit trees in the spatial treasure. Of course, ordinary wind could not blow it out, but it spread the fragrance farther.

The wind outside the house howled even more urgently. This was the location of a stationed military camp for the garrison. The terrain was high and the drainage was good. All the buildings were single-story cement houses. They were extremely sturdy and had strong flood and typhoon prevention capabilities, so they did not move location after the typhoon came.

At this time, the military camp was a little quiet. Some houses were lit. A few people gathered in a larger house for a meeting. Lu Ye was called here, and more manpower was sent to patrol the city border. At this time, they are concerned about the possibility of large waves of zombies appearing.

Most of the cars had also driven out. The military camp was empty and dark, and under the soil of the empty spaces, something was bulging, as if countless small things were eager to get out.

Waves of fragrance drifted away, and the bulging movement under the soil became more obvious and urgent. Finally, a piece of soil was bulged open, and a fat creature similar to an earthworm crawled out. But when the full worm crawled out safely, it became clear that the worm had many legs on both sides of its body, some of which were long, some were short, and some were just a small bump, as if it was underdeveloped.

The worm squirmed quickly and crawled towards a house, the source of the fragrance, with a clear goal.

After this worm, more bulge on the ground broke open, and worms crawled out one after another. Some were very similar to the first insect, but more were other kinds of creatures; beetles half the size of a fist, insects with white lines on their heads, and strange insects that were stuck together by mucus, but after shaking up the back, they opened two pairs of fleshy wings and flew fast.

In short, they were all strange looking and all went after the house where Bai Xiaohu was.

Normally, the movement of these insects breaking out of the ground should have attracted attention, but the wind was too loud, and the wind kept hitting the trees, doors, windows, and roofs, causing even more noise, so no one noticed.

It started to rain outside, and the sound of wind and rain mixed in a rumble. Bai Xiaohu frowned. Lu Ye was called away by the garrison troops, and she didn’t know if he would be caught in the rain now.

Bai Xiaohu and the other two were still drooling as they waited for the roasted chicken to come out of the fire. Suddenly, she sniffed: “Do you two smell anything?”

The two looked up at her, puzzled.

“It’s the smell of earth, fishy, raw, and stinky.” Bai Xiaohu twitched her nose. Was someone digging soil outside?

She stood up and wanted to take a look. The lights were turned on in the room after nightfall and the curtains were drawn. As she was about to open them to take a look, suddenly “poof”, the light bulb above her head flashed and went out.

There was only the firelight in the room, and Bai Xiaohu didn’t care. Lu Ye said that the power might be unstable when the typhoon passes. Although the electricity was generated by diesel, there was still a possibility of a problem with the line.

She picked up the high-power flashlight Lu Ye had prepared on the table, turned it on, shone it on the window, and opened the curtains. The next moment, she was so scared that she almost screamed.

Insects! The windows are full of insects!

Densely packed, overlapping, all kinds of strange and extremely twisted insects, under direct light, one can see its heads, strange eyes, white bellies with mucus, and countless wiggling feet.

Under the light, they wriggle faster, trying desperately to find a gap to get in.

Bai Xiaohu almost vomited.

She is a delicate little fox at the core, who loves beauty and cleanliness. When has she ever seen such a horrifying and disgusting scene? She was completely furious, her ears popped out from the top of her head, she threw away the curtains and jumped onto the bed, and called the two to come up, while shouting at the top of her voice: “Lu Ye! Lu Ye, help! There are insects!”

Lu Ye was participating in a meeting about flood prevention and typhoons. This typhoon was fierce, and now the whole city was in tatters. Dangerous objects could fall from the top of the head at any time. In addition, the drainage pipes had been silted up for more than half a year, and the drainage capacity was worrying. It truly would be challenging to travel at this time, but they couldn’t stay in the house and not go out. The city border must be guarded at all times.

At this time, they are discussing how to divide the work during the typhoon.

Lu Ye was delayed here and couldn’t leave. Of course, he couldn’t just sleep in the house and care about nothing. On typhoon days with rainstorms, some superpowers would be weakened, but thunderpower isn’t one of those types. Instead, they could use it with more ease, so his role was important.

Lu Ye didn’t object and said he would follow the arrangement.

Just then, Lu Ye suddenly heard a voice coming from afar. It didn’t sound real, but it was very familiar.

“… Lu Ye… Help!…”

It was Bai Xiaohu’s voice!

Lu Ye stood up and rushed to the door.

When he’s outside, he sees the whole row of houses in the military camp is dark. There should be something wrong with the wires there. He rushed over and found something abnormal as he stepped on the ground. He looked down and saw that the ground was full of insects. Some had already crawled out, some were standing and running out, and some hadn’t fully gotten out of the ground and were arching.

Lu Ye quickly said to the people who followed him out, “Watch your feet”, and ran off like a gust of wind.

The people who followed behind looked at the ground with the help of the light. Wow, where did so many insects come from? But when they arrived in front of Bai Xiaohu’s house, their scalps almost exploded as they shone the flashlight at the building.

The whole house was covered with all kinds of insects. The walls, roof, and door were almost unrecognizable. The surrounding rooms were also affected, but not as many. These insects were clearly all heading for this room!

Lu Ye’s face changed drastically. Before he arrived physically, the electric net arrived first. A dense blue-purple lightning net was released, covering the entire room. In the crackling sound and the constantly flashing light, burning and extremely foul smells instantly spread, and the charred insects fell in large fragments one section after another.

Before they finished falling, Lu Ye broke the door lock and rushed in. There were insects on the floor inside the house, especially behind the door. They must have come in from under the door. Lu Ye stomped and countless insects exploded. However, when he saw the situation inside the house, the blood through his whole body froze.

The room was dark. There was a brazier and a flashlight on the floor. But there was no one in the room. Not a single person!
