“She’s my daughter, but she looks like an angel!”
“Maybe he really is an angel.”
“What should I do? I want to give a gift too, but I don’t have time to go out to the village…”
“…Then, shall I pick up a gift for Bonnie on my way back?”
Reina’s eyes widened at Dean’s suggestion.
“Well, I’m so sorry about that.”
“No. I also wanted to give Bonnie a gift for the birth of the star, so let’s do it together.”
If Dean brought something, it wouldn’t be cookies or chocolate, so Reina was embarrassed.
“I won’t buy anything expensive.”
“Really?”
“Yes, really, really.”
Dean noticed Reina’s worries and her doubts, and she smiled softly and pleaded that she wouldn’t do it. But that sweet, harmless smile actually aroused anxiety.
“If it’s too expensive, I won’t accept it.”
“Yes, don’t worry.”
Reina focused her eyes on Dean as best as she could. As she talked with Dean, she arrived at her room before she knew it. Reina took her luggage from Dean and opened the door to her room. The room was extremely quiet.
“Bonnie?”
‘Are you sleeping?’
She fell asleep last time too, exhausted from waiting for Reina. Last time she was surprised, she hid quietly.
“Bonnie? Are you there?”
Reina looked in her bathroom and toilet, checked under the bed and in the closet. Of course she didn’t forget to check behind the door.
‘Are you back yet?’
However, after hearing Dean’s explanation, Reina left faster than Dean.
“Reina? Is something wrong?”
Dean, who had not yet returned and was lingering in front of her door, called out to her.
“Oh, no! It’s okay for Sir Dean to go back!”
“Yes, if anything happens, please come to me.”
“Thank you always.”
She even wondered if she was being kidnapped again, but she had no reason to kidnap Bonita right now. Besides, Bonita had never been out on her own since she was kidnapped. At the very least, she even told the adults where she was going.
‘I don’t like Sophia, so I can’t keep her in charge.’
To be fair, she liked Sofia, but she didn’t seem to like her enough to spend a lot of time together. Since Sophia’s personality was so unusual, she wondered if Bonita was uncomfortable with that aspect. She may have lost her way because her mansion is big and the doors look the same. She had all her thoughts up to that point when Reina turned her body to find Bonita. Something strange on the floor caught her eye.
“…A very luxurious black jacket that was neither Reina or Bonita nor anyone else’s clothes was lying on the table, tied like a cloth…?”
As Raina untied the knot on the jacket, adorable snacks poured out.
“Why is this…?”
Reina picked up the candy that had fallen on the floor and opened the jacket.
“It’s definitely the master’s jacket…”
Why was it wrapping snacks like a wrapping cloth? Reina couldn’t even think about ‘Damian used his jacket to pack Bonita’s snacks.’ As she walked out into the hallway with a confused expression and a jacket in one hand, she saw a black dot in the sky. The black dot rose up into the sky, then fell to the ground, and then rose up into the sky again.
“Uh?”
Reina leaned closer to the window, her eyes wide as she observed the repetitive movements.
‘Bobobobobo, Bobo?!’
Reina’s complexion became pale when she realized that the black dot was her daughter. She ran out of the mansion, forgetting that she wasn’t allowed to run in the hallway.
“Bonnie!”
Reina, who hastily rushed out, was looking at the sky alone and saw Sorry.
“Lord, master! Bonnie! Bonnie is…!!”
As Reina hurriedly tried to call Damian, she saw Damian, who was looking at the sky, moving at monstrous speed. He stopped about three steps away from Reina and held Bonita in a stable position.
“Are you satisfied now?”
“It was so much fun!”
Bonita was all scattered, no matter how much she was thrown into the sky. Reina stood tall as she looked at Bonita, smiling brightly and hugging Damian tightly.
“…”
“Mom?”
Bonita then saw Reina standing nearby and her eyes widened. Damian also looked at Reina with a puzzled expression.
“…both.”
Reina cried out, crumpling the jacket in her hands.
“What are you two doing in such a dangerous way?”
* * *
“Sophia, what are you doing here?”
One of the maids who was friendly with Reina found Sophia wandering alone. She thought Sofia was taking care of Bonita because Reina was busy recently, but there wasn’t even a shadow of the child around her.
“Bonnie said I don’t have to.”
“Really? That’s strange.”
Bonita didn’t seem to like being alone, but she tilted her head.
“Bonnie must have gone to the training ground today as well. She likes swords, which is strange for a girl.”
“It’s unusual…”
The princess seemed to have improved a bit these days. Bonita’s interes for the sword was possibly something temporal since she was young. The maids who were talking about various things turned their heads at the strange current.
“…Why are you looking at me like that?
“Hey?”
“No, look over there.”
Everyone’s eyes turned to the garden near the front gate. To be exact. Everyone was looking at the people standing in the garden.
* * *
Reina took Bonita and held her with a pale expression on her face. Both Bonita and Damian looked at Reina with puzzled expressions.
“Mom, what’s wrong? Huh?”
“Well, really…”
Reina cried out to Damien, her hands shaking.
“What were you going to do if something big happened!”
“I did it knowing it was safe.”
On the day he left to rescue Bonita, the auror, which was released excessively for a short period of time and became unstable for a while, has recently returned to stability.
“Under normal circumstances, it would have been dangerous, but it was carried out in safe conditions using Aurors. Bonita also asked me to do it.”
“Even if a child asks, an adult must say that it is not dangerous when judged!”
“…”
“Are you going to do everything the child asks you to do?! No matter how great the master is, he might make a mistake at least once!”
“I’m sorry about that.”
Damian had nothing more to say. Reina didn’t like what she heard, and Bonita’s guardian was Reina in the first place. Above all, he had never seen Reina this angry before. Because in front of Damian, she always looked as if she was on the verge of crying or about to cry, or just had a friendly face. In fact, it made no sense for Reina, a commoner and maid, to scold Damian, a Duke of an empire. Nevertheless, Damien bowed his head and accepted Reina’s anger. Strangely, compared to Reina, he had an infinitely huge body, but at this moment he seemed as small as a mouse.
“Uh, Mom?”
Reina hugged Bonita tightly.
‘Really, what should I do if something big happens?’
For Reina, Bonita was her only family. She loved her regardless of whether she was the real Reina or not, and she was the child who proved her existence. What if Bonita dies from her own mistake? If that was the case, it seemed like she would never be able to forgive herself. Bonita was the life that Reina left behind from before, and from that day on, she was her daughter, a precious child that she had to take charge of and raise. Even though she knew there was no way Damian could make a mistake, she was really scared just in case.
‘Really… what if something big happens…’
Bonita muttered softly towards Reina, who was not looking at her chazer who had been trapped in her arms.
“Mom… are you angry?”
Even when she was a picky eater, even when she accidentally scribbled somewhere other than the paper, even when she secretly went to see the training ground last time and she was kidnapped, Reina never got angry. This was the first time she had seen Bonita speak so bitterly with her hard face, and she became restless.
“Reina Borton.”
“…yes.”
“First, put the child down and talk to her. It’s suffocating.”
Damien looked at Bonita as her face turned pale. Of course she knew that the reason the child’s face turned white was because of fear.
“Oh, Bo, Bonie, are you suffocated? Sorry. Mom was surprised…”
“Ugh, it’s okay.”
“I’ll drop you off.”
But she didn’t intend to make things uncomfortable between them by saying that.
‘For some reason, those two keep watching each other.’
Reina had previously told Damian that she thought he and Estelle had a crush on each other. Nevertheless, in Damian’s opinion, it was more like Reina and Bonita who had a crush on each other. Bonita got down from Reina’s arms, but she couldn’t even grab the hem of Reina’s clothes and just tangled her hands in the air.
“Bonita, I need to talk to Reina Borton, can you go back to your room?”
“…”
Bonnie had tried to get to that room but had lost her way. Judging by the atmosphere, she knew it was right for her to stay away, but she wasn’t confident that she wouldn’t lose her way on the ride. Noticing the child’s hesitation, the two adults simultaneously looked at her body and adjusted it to her height.
Reina said.
“Don’t you want to go to your room alone?”
“Ugh.”
Bonita shook her head. Damian asked.
“Have you not memorized all the directions yet?”
In response to Damien’s question, Bonita remained silent for a moment and then nodded her head. Reina and Damien made eye contact for a moment and concluded.
“Bonnie, then mom will take you to your room.”
“I’ll go with you too. It’s more efficient that way.”
“Is that okay?”
“Of course.”
“Mom, aren’t you angry?”
“I wasn’t angry.”
Only then did she see that Bonita’s expression became as clear as a flower in bloom.
