Please Save My Child

CHAPTER 030

“…Anyway, the Pentail family developed all magical tools.”

“Yes, there are some who think that because of their name, the Countess, they are inferior to the Duke, but they have received outstanding support compared to their short history. Magic Penn Tail’s name is not missing from the pages of history and modern history.”

“That’s why they were falsely accused.”

“Yes. The Pentail family appeared and rose rapidly in the empire, which was originally centered on two powers: the imperial family and the temple. Thanks to the magic tools they developed, the quality of life for commoners has improved, so they have no choice but to receive support.”

Reina listened to his explanation and became curious, so she asked Peter.

“But what is the reason why the master revealed that it was a false accusation?”

“I can’t tell you why.”

“Well, it’s not a bad reason. It’s okay.”

‘Isn’t it okay to say it as long as it isn’t for a bad reason?’

Putting Reina’s doubts aside, Peter smiled brightly and proceeded to the next class.

“Next time Martha comes, let’s measure Reina Borton’s magic power. Now let’s move on to the next part, what is a magic stone…”

There was a long way to learn ahead.

Bonita trotted down the empty hallway. Since she didn’t have Reina, she was with a maid called Sophia who would sometimes come to look after Bonita. However, Bonita, who found it difficult to get to know her, would rather go see her kite alone. After that, the knights who were practicing were very happy to see Bonita alone.

“It’s heavy…”

A few times when they encountered each other like that, the members of the knights gathered snacks for Bonita and gave them to Bonita when she came. As everyone gave her snacks, candies, and chocolate one by one, Bonita ended up with snacks in her arms again today.

“Ugh…”

The Duke’s residence was a very large mansion, and to the child, it all had the same doors and similar decorations. Because of this, Bonnie wandered around for a long time, unable to find a room where Reina could stay. So, it was natural that Damien ended up near her office, where she was working alone.

Bonita gathered up the fallen snacks in her arms and walked down the hallway. Every time Bonita went up the stairs or walked down the long hallway, candies and chocolates fell one by one.

Damian opened the door when he heard the sound of something falling, and then wiggled his eyebrows at the cute scene in front of the door.

“…What is this?”

In front of the office, there was a small piece of chocolate wrapped in polka dots. Damian picked it up and turned his head to the left.

“…I don’t know what’s going on…”

One candy, one cookie. Sweet snacks were scattered irregularly in the hallway. Damian turned his head in the opposite direction this time.

“…I understand roughly.”

A small, pink-haired kid. Several snacks were sticking out of the child’s small arms. These days, Reina was busy with her studies, and Estelle was sick and quarantined. It was decided that  a close maid to Reina would take care of Bonita, but according to the report from the knight leader, the child always appeared alone in the knights’ order. Damian, remembering the question the knight commander had asked, played with the chocolate in his hand.

“Do you know where the kids’ favorite snack shop these days is?”

It seems that all the knights in the training hall have prepared snacks for Bonita. After making an infallible guess, Damian estimated how much work was left for today.

‘Nothing urgent.’

Damian walked down the hallway to his left with wide strides and picked up fallen snacks. Damian picked it up and turned his head to his left. Damian turned his head to the other side this time.

“…I guess I understand roughly.”

He walked leisurely to the right. It wasn’t long before I saw the back of the child in front of him. He noticed that the child walked so cautiously that she did not appear to be moving forward.

“Bonita.”

“…!”

The child turned her head towards Damien with a squeak, holding a bunch of cookies in her arms.

“Du, Duke.”

“Why do you look like that?”

The child was startled and made an expression that said, “I got caught.” Bonita shouted urgently at Damien, who did not hide her puzzled expression.

“Hey, I didn’t steal this!”

“…?”

“Master, really… I didn’t steal it…”

He knew it. What was there to steal here in the first place? On and above all, looking at mother and daughter, Damian knew that Bonita had no kleptomania.

“It was given to me by the knights…”

However, as Damian’s silence continued, Bonita seemed to be scared and shed big tears from her big eyes.

“Why, why are you crying?”

No matter how hard Damian was, he couldn’t help but feel embarrassed when the child cried. Damien instinctively dropped to his knees and made eye contact with Bonita.

“I know. The knight commander asked me for a store for snacks to give you.”

“The reason I called you…”

Damian looked at the small chocolate and candy in his hand and the cookies in the bag.

“…Why did you call me?”

Damian looked at the cute snacks in his hands and carefully placed them in Bonita’s arms.

“I want to give you a gift too.”

When Damian said ‘gift’ Bonita jumped and widened her eyes. As her eye muscles moved, the accumulated tears fell, and the child’s expression showed anticipation.

“…A sword?”

“No, not that one.”

And when Damian denied that, she openly showed his disappointment. Looking at the relatively clear range of expressions, he wondered if this was the difference between Bonita and Raina.

“Well, you need a little more time to choose what’s right for you. It is better to have an accurate gift rather than a quick gift.”

“Okay…”

“And you need a teacher if you want to have a sword.”

“Yes.”

Damian looked at Bonita for a moment. The child did not hide her disappointed expression as she held the snack in her arms.

“…Would you like to walk by yourself? Or should I lift it for you?”

“Yes?”

“You look like you have a lot of baggage.”

Only then did Bonita realize that Damian had meant to go somewhere with her.

“Um, um.”

Then she looked back and forth between the cookies in her arms and Damian.

“I want to walk directly.”

“Okay.”

Damian looked at Bonnie who answered clearly, nodded his head, and took off the jacket he was wearing.

“Put the cookies here.”

“Yes!”

Bonita had no idea how much the clothes were worth and poured all the snacks she had in her arms onto her jacket. Damian stood up, holding his jacket, which had become the most expensive bag of snacks in the empire, tightly in her arms.

“Then go.”

Damian took a few steps ahead and suddenly turned his head to the side, or to be precise, downward. He saw a pink head waddling along, slowly following him. Damian quietly took a step back and held out his hand to Bonita.

“You can catch it.”

Bonita looked at Damien’s outstretched hand. The ring and small fingers were sticking out for easy grasping. When he saw Raina, it looked similar to the hand he held out for Bonita.

“…lol.”

Damian’s hand, which was much larger than eina’s, was held… or, to be exact, she held part of the hand and smiled brightly. It was a completely different hand from Reina’s. Unlike Reina’s hands, he had thick gloves. It was big and cold, but Bonita didn’t hate it.

‘He asked.’

Should she walk or should she hug him? It was just that good. Damian quite liked the presence of her and her kindness, as Bonita seemed to be similar to Reina, with the fact that Bonita knew she could walk on her own.

The two walked down the hallway at a slower pace than before, holding hands.
