One Day, I Found the Emperor's Niece

CHAPTER 005: The origin of the birth of villains

Calix grew up being abused by his father. No one approached Calix for fear of his inability to control his magic, so he was always alone. He usually lived locked up in his room, but on days when his father was in a bad mood, he was sometimes detained in a dungeon like a criminal. Then one day, while watching Second Prince Alec playing in the garden through the window, Calix escaped the room to avoid the eyes of his father.

‘Brother!’

Alec welcomed his older brother, whom he had not seen in nearly a year, and they ran around freely. However, just as Alec was about to fall, Calix instinctively released his magic power to protect him, and Alec lay down suffering from trauma due to the magic resistance. The father became furious and mercilessly slapped his first son on the face.

Match-!

His small body fell and fell down the stairs, but no one helped him up.

‘I told you not to come out of the bedroom! You’re not an idiot, why don’t you understand? Didn’t you say that you are a being that will harm everything around you and should be quarantined!’

Calix was then detained in the dungeon while his father nursed Alec. He endured loneliness in a dark prison, hugging his legs. Calix’s past, which is briefly described in the original work, was a section that even made me cry out of sadness as I read it. Therefore, it was natural that he, who had never received love, was poor at expressing it, and it was also natural that he became emotionally disabled due to emotional deficiency. Maybe he destroyed the Kingdom of Tedan because he didn’t know how to mourn his brother’s death.

He came out of the flashback and sighed. But even so, this is not the case. Although he understood that he received an abnormal education and developed an abnormal view of education, he was very cruel to the child. On the contrary, shouldn’t he warmly embrace her so that she didn’t go through the same thing? He approached Rubelin.

“I would have told you to stop.”

He couldn’t take a few steps when a ghastly growling voice stopped him. He pursed his lips and thought. Should he say it or not? The hesitation was fleeting. He had to say this even if it meant getting hit in the neck for answering. In the past and even now, people hesitated to even utter remonstrances due to its mighty power.

“Your majesty. It’s not a matter of living or dying, or getting hurt or not getting hurt.”

Carlix scrunched up his face. His face looked like he didn’t understand what he was saying.

“What’s the problem? I wish he hadn’t died.”

“The heart.”

I turned to face Calix.

“Sometimes you get hurt in places you can’t see, Your Majesty.”

This was a fact that his father, the late Emperor, did not tell him even though he hurt his heart fifteen times. Carlix widened his eyes and stared at him in bewilderment.

How long has it been? He lowered his thin eyelashes, casting a shadow over his face.

“You sound exactly like Alec.”

A faint and distant voice was heard. I crossed the crowd of people standing nearby and approached Rubelin.

“Princess, are you okay?”

I bent my tingly leg and brought her to eye level with Rubelin, and her red eyes showed a bright smile. After a while, she burst into tears and wrapped her arms around my neck and held me in her arms. I patted her on the back.

“It’s okay, princess. Do not cry.”

Suddenly, gasps come from all over the place! A sound of heavy breathing was heard. A man admired while adjusting his glasses.

“Wow, the princess succeeded in controlling her superpowers…”

A man approached where we were, his eyes shining with curiosity.

“How can this-”

“Mevern.”

With a stern voice, the man called Mevern hurriedly turned to Calix. He opened his mouth in cold sweat at the questioning look in his eyes.

“I-I don’t know either, Your Majesty. It was obviously impossible until yesterday…”

As Mevern lowered his voice and muttered, Ken took a step ahead.

“Let me explain, Your Majesty.”

* * *

I looked around lazily. This is Rubelin’s room. In other words, it is the bedroom of the person with the highest status in the empire after the emperor. Is it really okay for a child’s room to be this extravagant? I looked around at the high ceiling and the furniture that filled the room. A canopy bed that can accommodate up to three people, mahogany furniture, a smooth sofa, and even a rocking chair covered in animal skin. Strangely, and uncharacteristically for a child, there were no dolls or cute toys. Ah, maybe it’s because the emperor’s magic power is needed. It was said that a magical power protection spell was cast throughout the imperial palace. Otherwise, it would have collapsed with just one move from Rubelin.

“But why don’t you come like this?”

Ken and the Emperor disappeared after saying, ‘Your Majesty, let me tell you,’ and had no intention of appearing like the Hamhung Emperor. Before the emperor disappeared, he looked at me intently and said this.

‘Lock him up.’

I heard that locking up means locking yourself in a room. If I had known that was the case, I wouldn’t have resisted.

‘Si, I don’t like it! ‘I didn’t do anything wrong!’

Just like that, I was dragged into Rubelin’s bedroom by the instructor and servant who held both of my arms. Confinement (Not a prison, but a room). I felt sorry for the emperor and princess who had been educated in this abnormal way and were accustomed to being locked in their rooms. And this world and my future, which will soon be destroyed by their hands. I was lost in deep thought. The empire will be exterminated shortly after the princess becomes an adult. So what happens to my life? What about the villagers? What about the people of the empire? I washed my face dry with both hands. Should I tell the emperor the truth? This is a novel, and Rubelin will soon kill you and destroy the world, so please try to restore your relationship. I shook my head. No, what if the emperor kills Rubelin? As she struggled to find an answer, Rubelin suddenly thrust her face into her field of vision.

“Damn, are you cold?”

Rubelin looked at my pale face and blinked. No, it can’t be cold. I’m just scared of what will happen to me.

“Hand!”

Rubelin held out her hand as if asking to be held. I hesitated, then grabbed Lubelin’s hand as it wiggled in the air. After confirming twice that superpowers did not work on me, my hesitation disappeared a little. Rubelin smiled brightly, as if she was happy that I was holding her hand, unlike in her carriage.

“Damn it!”

She hallucinated flowers and stars floating around her face.

“Ugh, it’s dazzling.”

She covered her vision with her hand to avoid going blind.

“Oh my god, my god, look at this!”

“Now, wait a minute, princess!”

Suddenly Rubelin grabbed my hand and led me somewhere. She tried to hold on to her feet to keep from following, but instead her upper body went forward as if she was being thrown. Rubelin didn’t even feel my slight resistance and jumped up and down in her place. As a result, her arms were shaking violently up and down, making her feel as if her earth was shaking.

“Damn it! wait!”

Rubelin suddenly let go of my hand and quickly ran to her bedside table and opened her first drawer. She opened the drawer, put her hands on her tiptoes, and rummaged through it, and soon her eyes widened. It was a face that had discovered something.

“We are here!”

What Rubelin lifted up was none other than a yellow envelope. What is that? She tilted her head and moved closer.

“What is this, princess?”

“Get your ass off!”

Rubelin handed me a yellow envelope with her fern-like hands. When I took the envelope from her letter, she was jumping up and down in her seat excitedly and bursting into laughter. Flowers bloomed around her face.

“Ugh.”

My heart hurts. She moaned at her loveliness and then she corrected her posture.

“Hurry!”

At Rubelin’s urging, I opened the envelope, and inside was a yellow letter with a geometric gold border around the edge. Ten items were written on the letterhead in crooked, bad handwriting. Could this possibly have been written by Rubelin? I can’t believe I’m already learning how to write. I was surprised when I read the first line.

“Mom… Sing me a lullaby?”

“Huh!”

Rubelin nodded her head vigorously, bouncing up and down her back.

“Again, again!”

She looked a second time at Rubelin’s urging.

“Going on a picnic with Mom?”

“huh! Let’s go!”

Rubelin came to me and fell into my arms. Only then did she know. Oh, it’s a list of wishes related to mom. Feeling sorry for Lu Belin, she bit her lip and lowered her gaze. I’m not her mother so I can’t listen. This is just a dream. Rubelin was both pitiful and lovely at the same time, so I stroked her head. Rubelin nuzzled her head like a puppy with her happy face.

“Wish!”

“Huh?”

“Rubelin’s wish will come true! It’s the best!”

Did your wish come true? I stared at Rubelin in surprise and then looked at her letter. The last line there said, ‘Mom stroking her head.’ Rubelin raised her hands above her head and waved them, grinning widely. I am not Rubelin’s biological mother, so can I let her be happy? After hesitating for a moment, I spoke.

“Princess, I am not your mother-”

“Also! Anma is the best!”

Anma…? Wait, did Rubelin just say Anma? Because she was a mother. As for Anma…

“Oh, devil?”

With an expression of disbelief, I looked back at the servants stationed around the door and at Maeberne, whom I had seen in the office. They nodded at her as if they understood what I understood correctly. I don’t know what this world is like, but shouldn’t something like Santa, an elf, an angel, or something come out of a child’s mouth instead of a devil? No, even when I think about the kid in the hospital room next to me who sang every day that he wanted to be an angel, it was the same. Should I check again?

“Princess, do you like devils?”

“Huh!”

Rubelin nodded her head several times with a blushing face.

“Why, why do you really like the devil…”

I felt a little gaunt and worried. If I hadn’t realized before the end that Rubelin was a villain despite her lovely appearance, now I realized that her bones were chilling. Oh, the world is really going to end and I will die too.

“Sigh…!”

A sudden surge of sadness made her bury her face in her hands and swallow her cries. There is quite a bit of time left until Rubelin grows up, so let her live hard until then… She quickly resolved the misunderstanding, left the palace, paid off her debt, tried shark egg dishes, and went on a trip… Thinking about the debt makes me cry again.

“Are you crying?”

I opened my eyes and looked through the gap between my fingers.

I saw Belin. Rubelin lowered her eyes pitifully and her face looked like she was going to cry at any moment. If I told him to cry, he would start crying along with me. I lifted my hands and smiled.

“No, I won’t cry.”

At that moment, someone knocked on the bedroom door and an unfamiliar servant came in.

“Princess, Lucina. Your Majesty is calling.”

I swallowed my saliva and clenched my fists. I love Rubelin, but she can’t stay here forever.
