Obsessed with Regressors

CHAPTER 30.2

Even on his first visit, he not only acted as if he knew Biscon House well, but also as if he had known Eugenie for a very long time.

As he sat down, he also noticed that Eugenie was taking her shoes off under her dress. Vix naturally hid his impression of Eugenie, recalling Count Burns putting on her shoes after she had taken them off. And he shook her head and said:

“No. That’s not it.”

That’s not something you can find out by researching. In particular, only a few people in this house know that Lady Eugenie has a habit of taking off her shoes. Unless Count Burns has some kind of strange ability, this would be impossible. However, there is no need to scare the Countess by telling her that her Count Burns is suspicious.

Anyway, it is true that Count Burns is extremely devoted to Lady Eugenie. Since Count Burns came into this house, there has been no shortage of peaches in the kitchen. This is because Count Burns always sends the highest quality peaches. He even said there was no need to tell Lady Eugenie that. Of course he did tell the Countess of Biscon.

“Okay.”

When the Countess said she could stop, Vix nodded and turned around. And he thought it was strange too. Just in case, he told the servants that if Eugenie’s suitors asked them what she liked, they could tell them. That way, her suitors will also bombard her with gifts.

This is a common occurrence in noble families. Instead, he asked only who asked and what he answered. This is because if you leave a gift without saying anything, you need to check who left it. But no one said that Count Burns had asked.

So, here again a question arises.

How on earth did Count Burns know that Lady Eugenie liked peach tarts?

* * *

“It’s okay.”

Miss Vera Harmon, who was visiting the concert held at the Biscon Mansion for the first time, looked around the halls of the Biscon Mansion next to Lauren and spoke in a low voice.

The Countess of Biscon wondered how she would give the concert. This is because these social gatherings of nobles ultimately end up showing off her wealth. Although Biscon Street has a long history, it is poor.

The Biscon Manor was a little big for the three of us to live in and felt a bit old, but it was well maintained. The hall was clean, and the tapestries and paintings that decorated the walls were not expensive, but they matched the season well.

Vera stopped for a moment when she saw the fruit that decorated the exact center of the hall. Interestingly enough, she decorated it with fruit rather than flowers. That’s interesting.

It is usually decorated with expensive flowers. It is not a common sight, but it is decorated with very expensive flowers that are out of season. She thought it was good sense to see that she had an overflowing bowl of seasonal fruit. It was a good thing she came. Her mother, Mrs. Harmon, heard somewhere that there was a concert on Biscon and she insisted that she go. However, to these events, only close people are invited.

The Harmon family is not particularly close to the Biscon family. Lady Biscone had attended the last ball, but that was only because Mrs. Harmon had sent a letter requesting her long and cordial visit. There was no way she would invite Mrs. Harmon and Miss Harmon.

Fortunately, Vera was attending her academy, and she was also acquainted with Lauren, the academy’s top beauty. She was also close with Lauren’s friend, Ida.

“Thank you for inviting me, Miss Liz.”

She begged me to come, so all I did was ask Lady Biscon and invite her. In response to Vera’s greeting, Lauren shrugged her shoulders and said,

“It was not I who invited you, but Lady Biscon.”

At that time, Eugenie appeared just in time. As she came down from the last floor, she spotted Lauren and approached her, who greeted her with a big smile.

“Lauren, welcome.”

“Eugenie, thank you for inviting me.”

“What are you talking about? You are a friend, so of course I should invite you.”

Lauren’s face brightened at Eugenie’s words. She felt a little proud that she was Eugenie’s friend. Beside her, Vera was staring at her Eugenie. This person is Eugenie Biscon.

Before she came here she did some research on Eugenie Biscon. She is a countess’s daughter who did not attend the academy. These days, most nobles attend academies. In that case, Lady Biscon, who did not necessarily attend the academy but was educated by a private tutor, would be a bit of a stubborn person. But recently she broke off her engagement because her fiance had cheated on her. Everyone is hush-hush, but such provocative rumors tend to spread quickly among teenage girls like Lauren and Vera. She broke off the engagement because her fiancé liked a man. Vera asked without realizing it.

“Did she really break off the engagement because her fiancé liked a man?”

“Miss Harmon!”

Only then did Eugenie realize that the girl standing next to Lauren was Vera Harmon, the daughter of Lord and Lady Harmon.

She did, of course, but Lauren asked her permission. She said her friend from the Academy really wants to come, so she wonders if she can come with her. It was Eugenie who said she didn’t care. She looked straight at Vera and smiled.

“I’m Eugenie Biscon, second daughter of the Biscon family.”

Vera was taken aback and said, ‘And you?’ without realizing it.

“B-this is Vera Harmon.”

“Nice to meet you, Miss Harmon.”

Eugenie said so and held out her right hand. It’s different from my first impression of her looking quiet and docile. Vera held Eugenie’s right hand in hers and looked at her blankly.

And she said it without realizing it.

“S-sorry.”

“It’s okay. You might be curious.”

Eugenie took Vera’s hand once, but then she let go and took half a step back. And she spoke her words in a kind tone.

“But I’m sure you understand that I’m not obligated to answer everyone’s questions.”

The tone was so kind that the content entered Vera’s mind very slowly. She opened her mouth and looked at Eugenie who was going to say hello to someone else.

“Lady Biscon.”

Ted Ryan smiled and greeted Eugenie. This isn’t the first time I’ve been invited to a Biscon Street concert. Because she is Oliver’s friend. But this invitation was a little more meaningful. Because I was invited as Eugenie’s suitor.

“James said he couldn’t attend because he was busy with work. He asked me to convey his apology.”

“Okay.”

Eugenie said with a smile. Sir Heinz had not been visiting her since before, when he declined her invitation to a concert. It’s not that rare. Her suitors quietly cut off when they feel they have no chance or when another attractive woman appears. After all, not only Lord Heinz, but also Lord Ryan and Count Burns were all courting Eugenie. Fortunately, Eugenie knew why Lord Heinz had cooled her mind. She must have heard rumors that she defeated Lord Psylocke and saved Oliver.

“Lady Biscon.”

Elliot then came over and greeted her. He naturally took Eugenie’s left hand and kissed the back of her hand.

“Thank you for the invitation.”

“I don’t know if I’m embarrassing her by showing my embarrassing skills for no reason.”

Elliot grinned at Eugenie’s humble words. He knows Eugenie’s skills. Of course, Ted standing next to him would know. Because he’s Oliver’s friend.

“That can’t be right.”

He spoke sweetly and leaned toward Eugenie, still holding her hand. And he spoke softly.

“I like you in any way you are.”

Anything is fine. If it’s something you know, it will be lovely, and if it’s something you haven’t seen before, it will be new. It must be lovely just like that.

Eugenie narrowed her eyes at Elliot’s words and then sighed. Just how far did she show him in his dream?

“You know?”

“What do you mean?”

When Elliot let go of his pretense, Eugenie frowned and let go of his hand. And she burst out laughing as he quickly held up her palms in surrender. These concerts usually invite only close friends. Naturally, the people invited every year tend to be similar. However, this year, we invited more people than last year because we had become friends with many people this year. Among them, there are some who have been invited to a nobleman’s concert for the first time.

Eugenie found that burdensome. I think everyone is looking forward to this nobleman’s concert. It was because I felt like she wouldn’t be able to live up to those expectations. But most of the new invitees are dreamers. If Elliot knew what she was good at, everyone else would too.

Eugenie’s tension eased for a moment.

“Do you know how to play any instruments?”

Elliot smiled at Eugenie’s question. He knew a little bit.

“A little piano.”

Ted looked more surprised than Eugenie at his answer. You know how to play an instrument? This means that they were not ordinary commoners. But Elliot quickly added:

“I learned it at the academy.”

“Ah.”

I know what you mean. One of the classes students can choose from at the academy is music class. In that case, Elliott’s words “a little” may mean that he really knows how to play the keyboard.

“Eugenie.”

At that time, Maria, who had finished getting ready on the stairs on this floor, approached Eugenie. She thanked Ted and Elliot for attending and then spoke to Eugenie.

“Shouldn’t we get ready soon?”

Because it is a family concert, people from the Biscon family perform. Eugenie’s face hardened as she told him to get ready to play. She nodded her head, excused herself from the two, and entered her music room.

“Oh, what about Oliver? Can you play?”

Ted asked Countess Biscon, who was following Eugenie’s footsteps. He came to visit Oliver in hospital two days ago. The look on Oliver’s face back then was quite amazing.
