Obsessed with Regressors

CHAPTER 29.1

Oliver Biscon was not seriously injured. He was just a little weak because he hadn’t eaten anything for three days. Of course, his face was bruised and his nose was broken. But that was only minor damage compared to what Oliver had gone through. He got into an argument with Lord Psylocke, who came to apologize, and an angry Lord Psylocke struck him. Oliver fell backwards and fainted.

He got angry and struck him, but Sir Psylocke, who had no intention of killing him, was greatly embarrassed and took Oliver to his house. He also didn’t have any plans.

“He said he didn’t mean to hide the body or anything.”

Claire spoke calmly in front of Eugenie. The Countess of Biscon, who had been listening to her, said that she could not hear it, and that she had gone up to this floor.

Eugenie was about to ask Oliver why he had taken him to his house unless he thought he was dead. In fact, Lord Psylocke tried to save Oliver. Because he went to the doctor. Of course, the problem was that it was three days later and I went to see the loud-mouthed doctor very quietly.

“So what do they want?”

Instead, Eugenie asked something else. Claire was now conveying the position of the White Lion Knights and the Psylocke family to the Biscon family. Not that she wanted to either. The Psylocke family’s request was cut right away. She said she had no intention of conveying the perpetrator’s perspective. The problem was a request from Sir Esma, the leader of the White Lion Knights. He found out that Claire was close to Lady Biscon, so he made an earnest request to Claire.

‘Please mediate between the White Lion Knights and the Biscon family.’

Of course, Claire refused that too. She also said she would quit the Order if he continued to request arbitration.

“I don’t know that either.”

At Claire’s words, Eugenie looked like she was wondering what she meant. Since she came to convey the other side’s position, I thought she would also convey the other side’s demands? Claire saw Eugenie’s expression and distorted his face. She didn’t deliver because she wanted to too. However, she had no choice because Sir Esma requested me earnestly. He said that since she had accepted him into her order, shouldn’t she repay her in this way?

She said she would “only relay her side of the story.

”This…”

What should she say? Was she feeling dirty? However, when Claire remembered that she was in front of Lady Biscon, she chose her words and spoke.

“Because I don’t feel like it either.”

It was up to the Biscon family, who heard Claire’s statement, to decide whether to listen to their request. Claire thought that was enough. Listening to the perpetrator’s point of view. How generous. Eugenie sighed a little when she saw Claire’s face saying her head was hurting. She said she had a headache too, but she’s not as troubled as Claire. Anyway, there was a victim going to Biscon. The Psylocke family and the White Lion Knights will try to sort things out somehow, but Eugenie and her mother have no intention of letting go. At the very least, they wanted Lord Psylocke expelled from the Order and an official apology. Of course, Lord Escalee promised that both of these would be fulfilled unconditionally.

Sir Esma must have received a favor from Marquis Psylocke.

“Thank you.”

Eugenie said, gesturing for Claire to sit down. She told me to sit down earlier, but she said it wasn’t a good story so she said she would stand.

As Claire sat down across from her, Eugenie lifted her teacup and said,

“I heard you refused Sir Escalee’s invitation.”

Like Claire, who received a favor from Sir Esma, Eugenie also received a favor from Sir Escalee. Claire quickly realized what Eugenie was trying to say.

“Yes.”

“Can I ask why she said no?”

As Eugenie asked about it, she remembered that Elliot was sitting next to her, and she quickly explained it to him.

“Lord Escalee recommended Claire transfer to the Black Wolf Knights.”

“Aha.”

She had already noticed, but she pretended that Elliot had only noticed it then. And she raised her teacup with an expression of interest. Of course, he didn’t care whether Lord Lannon joins the Black Wolf Knights or the White Lion Knights. No, he didn’t care if she isn’t a knight at all.

But he was not Eugenie. He said that if Eugenie was interested in something, Elliot would also be interested in. Even if she just pretended she cared.

“Do you want me to go to the Black Wolf?”

Claire asked as Eugenie’s gaze returned to her. It is against the law to answer a question with a question. That’s what Eugenie would have said if her partner had been Oliver. But Claire was not Oliver. Eugenie didn’t know why Claire was asking that, so she said.

“Lord Escalee has asked me to persuade you one more time.”

“Are you going to convince me?”

Eugenie shook her head in response to Claire’s question. She was Claire’s life and her choices. Of course, she was more honored as a black wolf than as a white lion. And the salary was a bit higher.

“I thought it was a better position and I was wondering why you turned it down. Sir Escalee was also curious.”

Claire made her impression upon Eugenie’s words. Why did you refuse? Because she felt like she was betraying herself.

As they said, the White Lion Knights were in an uproar. Lord Psylocke was one of the most influential knights of the Order of the White Lion. This is because he is the nephew of the Marquis Psylocke, a wealthy knight, and his skills are not bad. He had many knights following him. However, it was suspected that Sir Psylocke attempted to murder Baron Biscon. There are also knights who follow Lord Psylocke involved.

Sir Esma did not ask Claire to mediate for nothing. If done well, the Order of the White Lion may have to test its knights’ attitudes. In other words, all knights of the White Lion Knights may have their whereabouts investigated. Thanks to this, the knights of the White Lion Knights were in an uproar and were worried that there might be trouble in their actions. In this situation, transferring to Black Wolf felt like a betrayal.

“You can’t call that a betrayal.”

Claire shook her head at Eugenie’s words. It’s betrayal. At least it seemed to her.

“And the reason Lord Escalee recommended me to transfer was because I helped save Baron Biscon.”

Was it? Eugenie frowned. She didn’t know exactly why Lord Escalee asked Claire to become the Black Wolf.

“Then I would be betraying the Knights by receiving preferential treatment. I don’t want to do that.”

Following Claire’s words, Eugenie tried to ask what she meant. She didn’t know why that’s a privilege. But everything was clear to Claire. Sir Escalee eliminated her, having already proven her skills once. The reason she was trying to summon him this time is because she helped save someone from the Biscon family who was close to Lord Escalee. This was a privilege. And using that privilege to leave the White Lion Knights and join the Black Wolf Knights was a betrayal.

“I understand that you have a sense of belonging to the White Lion Order.”

At that time, Eugenie spoke. A sense of belonging? Claire looked at her, startled by her words. A sense of belonging? Did she have a sense of belonging to the Order?

Eugenie also noticed Claire’s surprised expression. she asked, frowning her eyebrows.

“Why are you so surprised?”

“Well, I didn’t know I had a sense of belonging.”

“Of course you have it.”

Eugenie said in confusion when Claire said she didn’t know. Claire served as a knight of the White Lion Order for several months. He said he didn’t get along very well with the knights, but there was no way he wouldn’t feel a sense of belonging after spending time there.

‘I see.’

Claire nodded her head at Eugenie’s words. And she spoke quietly.

“I will get rid of it.”

“No…”

She was not saying to eliminate the sense of belonging. Eugenie looked back at Elliot as a sign for help, but he pretended not to notice and was drinking his tea. It didn’t help in times like this. Eugenie let out a sigh and turned her head to Claire again and spoke.

“I’m not saying it’s bad. It’s good to have a sense of belonging.”

“I don’t need that.”

The Knights were merely a means to effectively protect Lady Biscon from a closer location. So if she had any sense of belonging, it should be only with Lady Biscon. Claire understood Sir Escalee who eliminated her. For the Black Wolf Knights, who were supposed to protect the king, to be loyal only to Lady Biscon was not only bad, but dangerous.

“It’s okay. The Order of the White Lion is enough for me.”

In that case, it would be better to just be in the White Lion Order. Claire decided that way. Eugenie sighed involuntarily, feeling like she had somehow made a new decision. It felt like it was a bit of a waste, but it couldn’t be helped. If that’s Claire’s decision.

“I’ll get some stationery in a moment.”

She guessed she would have to write to Sir Escalee to say it didn’t work out. He’s probably waiting for Eugenie to persuade Claire.

There was silence in the drawing room as Eugenie left to get her stationery. The two people, who did not like each other very much, sipped their tea in silence and waited for Eugenie to return. At that time, Claire spoke first.

“How did you know?”

What? Elliot asked without words, just with his expression. Claire recalled the shocking scene she saw at Lord Psylocke’s mansion a few days ago. Lady Biscon was holding a staff. And he told Lord Psylocke he probably broke his arm. In fact, it was said that Lord Psylocke broke his arm. He suffered significant bruising to his entire body as well. That’s all Lady Biscon’s doing.

Even though Sir Psylocke is not the most powerful member of the White Lion Knights, he had the ability to protect someone. This meant that he was not skilled enough to be beaten by an ordinary person holding a cane. In response to Claire’s question, Elliot looked at her for a moment and said, “Hmm.” Probably not many people know. Eugenie’s swordsmanship skills are amazing.

“Why did you decide to become a knight?”

Claire’s face distorted at the sudden question. Lord Escalee asked the same question. It was to protect Lady Biscon. But before Claire could answer, Elliot asked again.

“There must have been someone who suggested that you become a knight.”
