“Ugh.”
The room was full of stench. Wasn’t there a real body? She held her nose and walked over to the bed in the middle of the room. Of course, the stench got worse the closer she got to the bed.
“Oh.”
She almost called Oliver’s name. It was Oliver who was lying in bed. One side of his face was a little swollen and gaunt, but it was definitely Oliver. She was startled and clung to Oliver to see that he was still breathing.
“He, the owner, was a guest, but he suddenly collapsed.”
It’s a lie. She cupped Oliver’s cheek in her hand and then realized that his body stank and told the butler.
“I need a fire.”
Fortunately, the butler complied with her request and brought her a lamp. Oliver’s face in the light was even more terrifying. Not only was it swollen, but the bruise had turned purple.
‘Oh my god.’
When she looked up, the butler stammered.
“Well, I bumped into something when I fell…”
“I think he got hit, not fell.”
When you fall, you usually try to protect your head with your hands. The fact that his face was bruised like this means he was hit by someone.
At her point, the butler kept his mouth shut as if he had nothing to say, then spoke again.
“You just need to find out why he doesn’t wake up.”
Find out? This meant that they didn’t know why Oliver collapsed. That also meant that he didn’t have any major wounds that could cause him to fall.
She lifted the lamp and looked over Oliver’s body. There was some blood on the top, but it appeared to be a nosebleed. Other than that, there was no blood to be seen. Although it was wet.
What’s the problem? The moment she thought that, she made eye contact with Oliver, who narrowed his eyes.
‘Uh.’
She opened her mouth in surprise and quickly turned her head to the butler. And she spoke calmly.
“Bring hot water and a clean cloth.”
“How much water…”
“Bring me a bucket.”
She thought he was going to ask how hot it should be, but she guessed that was enough. When the butler left, she quickly lifted the lamp and looked at Oliver’s face.
“Oliver, are you awake?”
“Eugenie?”
Oliver seemed to have finally recognized her, turned his body around, and fell down.
“Oliver!”
Was it broken somewhere? She was startled and grabbed her brother, but he spoke in a weak voice.
“Oh, it’s okay, it’s okay.”
“I heard you suddenly collapsed and couldn’t get up?”
“It was done on purpose.”
“Grunt,” said Oliver, adjusting his posture and trying to sit up. She asked, supporting him.
“You said you did it on purpose?”
“Uh oh. Then they’ll think I’m dead.”
‘You mean you pretended to be dead?’
When she frowned, Oliver smiled and said,
“If they thought I was dead, I thought they would throw it away somewhere.”
“I’m glad Lord Psylocke has at least a conscience.”
He almost died because of him. There is no way a person who was imprisoned until death could tell honestly. It could have been thrown into a river or mountain.
“How did you get here? You didn’t come alone, right?”
“With Elliot.”
“Only Count Burns? Are you two here alone?”
In the first place, she didn’t come to save Oliver. She was just checking to see if he was here. She explained that she happened to hear a strange story at a dance she went to with Elliot. And that she came to check if Oliver was really here.
“Then where is Count Burns?”
“Oh.”
She forgot about him when she met Oliver. She took the lamp and went to the window. Then, after opening the window, she placed the lamp on the window frame. This was the signal. She decided to put a lamp on the window sill of Oliver’s room when she found him. She leaned out the window and checked to see if Elliot had found it. But he was nowhere to be seen. Had he found it yet?
“How did you get in here?”
Oliver asked, trying to get out of bed. He tried to get up, so it didn’t seem like he was hurt. Was she just feeling listless?
She said, quickly approaching him.
“They said they were looking for a doctor, so I pretended to be one.”
“You?”
Oliver looked in disbelief. He looked at her and asked.
“Was there a female doctor?”
She did not know either. She shrugged her shoulders and said.
“Even if it doesn’t exist, shouldn’t the people in this house just know about it?”
No fool would say in front of a female doctor that there were no female doctors.
Oliver opened his mouth as if he was dumbfounded by my words, then flinched and tried to get up again.
“If we’re going to run away, I think we should do it now. The butler might come back.”
“He won’t come that soon. I told him to bring hot water.”
It took time to boil and bring water at night. Oliver seemed to have finally realized why she had asked the butler to bring hot water.
She spoke again to Oliver, who was impressed.
“And I have no intention of running away.”
“You’re not running away?”
How could she run away with Oliver? Considering the size of this house, at least three servants were needed. This meant that if you include the butler and Lord Psylocke, there were at least five men. Even Lord Psylocke was a knight. What’s worse was that it’s doubtful Oliver would have the strength to walk properly. It’s difficult for her to support Oliver, let alone carry him or hold him.
Oliver was twice her size.
She said, using her hand to push Oliver to lie down as he struggled to get up again.
“Claire decided to bring Lord Esscale and the doctor. When Elliot checks where we are…”
She was going to inform Claire and Sir Escalee of their location. Then she could get out of here with Oliver without any damage.
“Her.”
When Oliver heard her plan, he was impressed. The door burst open without knocking. Has the butler arrived? Oliver quickly laid back down and I tried to ask if he had brought hot water.
“Uh?”
But it wasn’t the butler. The man who opened the door looked at me and Oliver and made an impression as if he recognized her. And he pointed his finger at her and said:
“Lady Biscon?”
‘Oh, shit.’
* * *
“It’s here!”
Claire shouted when she saw the brightly lit mansion. The coachman, who was not sure if he could find the address properly because it was night, also stopped the carriage when he saw the brightly lit mansion.
“Oliver is here?”
Sir Escalee, who quickly got out of the carriage, helped Claire get off and asked. It is said that Eugenie said she might be trapped in Lord Psylocke’s house. He said he would go first and check the condition of the house, but in fact the house was brightly lit.
Claire looked for Eugenie near the house, but she was nowhere to be seen. She was nowhere to be seen as well as Elliot.
“What’s going on?”
Next to the confused Claire, Loin was also looking at the mansion, wondering what was going on.
“Didn’t you say that Count Burns and Lady Biscon went together?”
“Yes.”
The two went together. So there wouldn’t be much risk. Because she knew Count Burns’ skills. But at that moment, the front door of the mansion opened. Claire and Loin, who were momentarily nervous, realized that the person who opened the door was Elliot and ran over.
“Count Burns!”
“What about Eugenie?”
Elliot also found the two people. he asked, supporting Oliver.
“Did you bring a doctor?”
Eugenie asked to bring a doctor too, just in case. Only then did Loin run to call the doctor who remained in the carriage.
“Lady Biscon, what about Eugenie?”
Claire asked without even looking at Oliver, who was being supported by Elliot. He said as he looked around the mansion, supporting Oliver with one of his arms.
“He’ll be out soon.”
You’re coming out soon? Weren’t we together? The moment Claire was about to grab Oliver by the collar, a man’s screams were heard from inside the house.
“Shit!”
Soon, a man rolled out through the open front door. what? Unlike Claire, who was nervous, Elliot was relaxed. He handed Oliver over to Lord Escalee, who had brought the doctor, and slowly walked towards the entrance.
“Eugenie!”
Claire also ran to the front door, following Elliot. Then, she saw Eugenie walking out from inside, holding her cane and frowning.
“Gwae, are you okay?”
Although her hair was a little disheveled, Eugenie looked fine. She adjusted her grip on her staff as if she were holding her sword and shouted between Elliot and Claire.
“Are you okay?”
Who was he talking to? Claire looked back and found Lord Psylocke sitting down. It seemed that the person who rolled out just now was Lord Psylocke.
“His arm is probably broken.”
Eugenie’s worried voice came out again. What was this sound? When Claire, embarrassed, turned her head to Eugenie again, Elliot was approaching her and holding her cane.
“You know this is a sword.”
Elliot said and twisted the handle of her wand. Then a thin sword came out from inside. This was the cane that he showed to Eugenie before.
Of course, Eugenie knew that it was a sword. But she didn’t want to wear a sword. She said, shaking her head.
“If you attack with a sword, the opponent will be seriously injured.”
