Obsessed with Regressors

CHAPTER 23.3

“I want to break off the engagement.”

She wished she had said it more confidently. Ms. Rogoso’s unstable voice made her think so, but she didn’t say anything. Lord Turner, who was sitting across from her, looked more shocked by the content of Erica’s words than by her tone of voice.

“Calm down, Erica.”

After barely getting over his shock, Lord Turner dismissed Miss Rogoso’s words as nonsense. Then he looked back at me and said:

“Were you incited by this woman? Do you know what kind of trend breaking off engagements is?”

“Careful what you say, Lord Turner.”

She said firmly. She understood why Miss Rogoso asked her to stay with her. She said, thinking it was a good idea to choose her house as the meeting place.

“This is Biscon Mansion. Politeness is not optional.”

She didn’t know if it’s your damn house. She barely suppressed her desire to say that. Sir Turner looked speechless at her accusation. And he quickly blushed with shame and anger.

“Lady Biscon is right.”

Miss Rogoso barely opened her mouth. She was holding her teacup tightly, but spoke firmly, as if imitating her.

“I wish you would be polite.”

“So, you’re breaking off the engagement because I didn’t follow the manners?”

“No.”

Miss Rogoso seemed to have gained more courage from Lord Turner’s softened attitude. She said as she put down the teacup.

“Because you insulted me. I told my sister that she should be self-employed.”

Although her final words were a little shaky, Ms. Logoso succeeded in finishing her sentence. Lord Turner looked like she couldn’t believe what she was saying and then she looked at her. He looked like he was asking if it was you who ordered it, but she pretended not to know. If you want to ask something, you have to say it out loud.

“Please break off the engagement.”

Sir Turner seemed to have regained her composure after Ms. Rogoso’s next words. He chuckled and leaned against the back of the sofa and asked.

“Nope?”

Hmm.

It was a moment when I once again understood why Ms. Rogoso had asked me to stay with her. Lord Turner doesn’t seem to listen to anyone at all. At least he didn’t seem to be listening to Miss Rogoso.

“If you don’t do it…”

“What if you don’t do it? What are you going to do?” asked Lord Turner, imitating Miss Rogoso’s tone. She cleared her throat and he took one look at her and adjusted his posture.

“I have no choice but to publicly demand a breakup of the engagement.”

She wished she had said it more confidently. The second time it occurred to her, she didn’t say anything. Because Lord Turner looked like he was laughing at Miss Rogoso’s words.

“Publicly? Are you breaking off the engagement because I’m rude? under! Where should you try it?”

“Lord Turner.”

She didn’t know why you ignore Ms. Rogoso so much. No, she actually knew. She sighed. Because she was not noble. She and she only have a sister. Lord Turner was told that she had the potential to become a nobleman. Because his relative, Viscount Turner, has no children. She was told that when he died, Lord Turner would receive the viscountcy. The situation would have been better if Baroness Kernell had not been unconscious. But she was unconscious, and the only thing that allowed Miss Logoso to remain in aristocratic society was her marriage to Lord Turner, who would likely receive her viscountcy.

‘Oh, I’m a little angry.’

Her anger boiled over. It occurred to her that if Baroness Kernell had been sane, she would have immediately broken off her engagement to Lord Turner. Or at least Lord Turner wouldn’t have behaved like this if Baroness Kernell had been sane.

“I said I wasn’t breaking off the engagement because I was rude.”

Fortunately, Ms. Rogoso spoke calmly. She looked at me once, then turned back to Lord Turner. Then she swallowed her saliva once and continued her words.

“I’m breaking off the engagement because you insulted me and my sister. If you publicly call for an end to the engagement, you have no choice but to let people know what you said.”

Lord Turner’s face froze for a moment, then returned to normal. He said, lifting his chin.

“What? That your sister said she was self-employed? Do you think everyone thinks that way?”

She could see Miss Rogoso’s shoulders slumping. He’s right. Many people will think that way. She said, leaning forward.

“That’s right. But saying that to Miss Rogoso is different from whispering behind her back.”

People would criticize Miss Rogoso if she revealed Lord Turner’s actions. And as was the case in her case, tarnishing the family’s honor was a more valid reason for breaking off an engagement than cheating. Lord Turner paused again at her point.

“I’m serious? Are you going to ruin your life just because I told your damn sister that she was self-employed?” he asked, turning to Miss Rogoso.

Huh. She sighed again. And she tried to tell Lord Turner to shut up. But first, Miss Rogoso spoke.

“Okay! Because she’s my damn sister! I can swear! But damn you, you can’t swear!”

Huh?

She found Miss Logo staring at Lord Turner with a bright red face and his eyes widened. She was completely excited and her body was shaking. But she was still glaring at Lord Turner.

“Damn it?”

Fortunately, it seemed that Lord Turner was more shocked than I was. As he looked back at him in confusion, Miss Rogoso shouted again.

“Yes, you damn bastard! Why are you insulting my sister?”

“This…”

Lord Turner jumped up from his seat. haha. I was so dumbfounded that she laughed and said.

“Sit down.”

“What?”

“Go or sit down.”

Funny enough, Lord Turner began to hesitate. He hesitated whether to sit or just go, but then straightened his posture. And he said, adjusting his clothes as if he was about to leave.

“You must be ashamed, Lady Biscon. Do you think you can ruin the life of such an innocent woman just because you are Lady Biscon?”

‘Huh. I don’t know why you keep thinking I did something. I didn’t do anything.’

She asked because she couldn’t understand.

“Why couldn’t you protect what I could have ruined?”

Lord Turner looked like he didn’t understand what she was talking about. Right? Was he saying she ruined Miss Rogoso’s life? Then why couldn’t she and her closest friend, Lord Turner, who was her fiancé, protect Miss Logoso’s life? Unfortunately, Lord Turner did not understand her point until the end. But he seems to have realized that her point was a point.

He clicked his tongue and said.

“How can you be so proud? Because your life will be like his.”

“Thank you for the compliment.”

She said, getting up from my seat. And this time, seeing Sir Turner not understanding, he sighed. And she gave an additional explanation for him.

“Even if I’m not married, I’m Lady Biscon. Miss Rogoso is Baroness Kernell’s younger sister.”

Only then did Sir Turner seem to understand what she meant. Miss Rogoso was famous for being the younger sister of Baroness Kernell. But when she marries Lord Turner she would become Mrs. Turner. The difference between the Baroness’s brother and Mrs. Turner was great.

“I am the one who will become Viscount Turner!”

“Oh, we’ll have to wait and see.”

After saying that, she opened the drawing room door and called the servant. She wished someone would see Lord Turner off. Simply put, it meant watch to see if he gets out of this house. Lord Turner’s face was red with an emotion that could be anger or shock. But when the butler and servant appeared, he obediently left.

“Oh my god.”

The two men, Miss Rogoso, sighed. Since she was still shaking her body, she asked a servant to bring her a snack.

“Are you okay?”

The servant brought peach tart. She asked Sir Turner to erase all traces of him, then sat down in the chair where he had been sitting. Fortunately, Ms. Rogoso seemed to have calmed down. She took a sip of her tea and then sighed. And as she suggested, she put her fork to the peach tart and said,

“Yes. I’m fine. I was just surprised because I didn’t know if I could say that.”

“You were good.”

To be honest, she was surprised. She added with a chuckle.

“That damn Lord Turner was very surprised.”

Miss Rogoso’s eyes widened and then curved into a smile. And soon he started giggling. She was glad you laughed. She watched Ms. Rogoso laugh and then quietly asked:

“What are you going to do now?”

Now that Lord Turner has broken off her engagement, she must find another suitor if she wants to get married. But summer is already over. Of course, the social season lasts until fall, and even in fall, people interact in a variety of ways. They went hunting, go to concerts, and see art. She also did things like plays. But you end up doing that with people you became friends with over the summer. So even if you have no intention of getting married, you should diligently meet people during the summer. That way, there will be someone to hang out with in the fall. Now that Miss Rogoso has broken off her engagement to Lord Turner, he may have to distance himself from people he shares in common with. This means that the number of people to hang out with in the fall is drastically reduced.

“If it’s okay, would you like to come with me?”

She asked cautiously. The rumor that Elliot was courting me must have piqued people’s interest, so she received quite a few invitations. Her mother and she refuse to invite anyone we don’t already know, but we thought it would be a good idea to accept a few invitations for Ms. Logoso.
