Obsessed with Regressors

CHAPTER 22.3

“Well done.”

At some point, Claire said. After struggling, she grabbed her arm and straightened her posture. It still feels a bit awkward to stand in the water, but you can stand anyway. When she turned around, she realized that she had already crossed the pool and reached where Claire was. ‘Oh my god.’ She looked back at her and said.

“You succeeded?”

“Yes. It was a success.”

A smile appeared on Claire’s face. She swam across the pool. Not walking.

‘Oh my god.’

She got excited and looked back at the swimming pool. Then he looked back at Claire and said.

“I succeeded!”

“Yes.”

They held each other’s hands and happily jumped in the water. The feeling of the water, which had once felt uncomfortable, now felt quite pleasant. Walking was still a bit awkward though. She got out of the pool with Claire and changed her clothes. The time has come for people to come for a swim. As they sat down on their chairs, the staff brought out tea. To be precise, these were employees hired by Lauren. Although she paid her weekly wages, she left the overall job of hiring people and running the ship to Lauren. Of course, she did the reviewing, but Lauren does a great job at it. Contrary to initial expectations that their business would only suffer losses, they were seeing significant profits.

“Didn’t Baron Biscon tell you about me?”

After taking a sip of tea, Claire hesitated and asked me. That was the story. From the moment she met her today, she had the feeling that she wanted to tell me something. She looked back on her conversation with Oliver, which was useless to her, but half of what she said from her brother’s mouth was also useless. Oh, of course, she didn’t think the remaining half were useful words. The reason she said half of them were useless was because she didn’t hear the other half. Even if the words she didn’t hear are probably useless, her motto was not to give up on possibilities.

“Um, no. They didn’t say so.”

Did they fight again? That’s what she thought first, but for Claire’s honor, she didn’t say it. Strangely, Claire and Oliver did not get along well. To be precise, Claire hates Oliver. And that was pretty weird even by her standards. She had never met anyone in her life who didn’t like Oliver. She was not saying this because he’s her brother, but because Oliver was quite handsome.

‘Oh yeah. Correct. Oliver is very handsome. Julia did that. There aren’t many men in today’s society who are more handsome than Oliver.’

But Oliver was her brother and she didn’t think he’s that handsome. She knew he’s a bit handsome, but she thought it’s a bit of an exaggeration to say he’s the most handsome in society. Anyway, Oliver was popular because he was handsome and had a good personality. Not only women but also men like him. When he was attending the academy, he would bring his friends over every vacation. So usually, the reason people dislike Oliver is because they lost their hearts to him or because the girl they like likes Oliver. And Claire didn’t belong to either side.

“He never said that he was in trouble because of me?”

What? She widened her eyes at Claire’s question. Was he in trouble because of Claire? Claire saw her expression and sighed. She fiddled with her teacup and spoke as if she had made up her mind.

“I think Baron Biscon helped me.”

“Do you think it helped?”

Did he help you? What did he help her with? In response to her questions, Claire explained what happened. He allegedly tried to give her her food and when she looked like she was about to get caught, he pretended to threaten her. She understood why he said he felt like he helped. If it were me, I wouldn’t have done that. Because you may be hated by other knights. But it was also Oliver-like.

“It’s probably right that I helped you.”

She nodded and said. She heard something similar happened at the Academy. Even though nobles and commoners are mixed together, it is said that nobles hang out with nobles, and commoners hang out with commoners.

“There’s a friend of Oliver’s named Roman, and his brother dragged him to the rowing club.”

Oliver said he felt like he would do well if he made adjustments. He did really well, which helped him win a few matches. The problem was that all the students who joined the rowing club at the academy were nobles. Roman was said to have been struggling to fit in at the club and Oliver did not want to miss out on the resources that had helped his team win.

“I heard you cursed at other people back then too?”

“I don’t think so.”

She heard that he picked the guy who bothered Roman the most and made him fight with him. Her mother and she were shocked as to how he could use such ignorant methods, but Oliver shrugged his shoulders and said,

– You mean we get along?

It actually worked. Inexplicably, after his fight with Roman, the club accepted him. We had a really hard fight. It was so severe that the parents of the student who fought at the time complained to the school. But the protest was quickly abandoned and Oliver’s rowing club banded together. Roman is still active as a commoner in Oliver’s rowing club, which is reserved only for nobles. Oh, of course I heard he’s not the only commoner anymore.

“Then it’s true that he helped me.”

Claire said in disbelief. It seems like he couldn’t believe that Oliver helped him, rather than that he helped him. Well, if Claire hadn’t explained the situation in detail, she would have asked if he was mistaken.

“Well, I can help you.”

She shrugged her shoulders and said. She was like that too, but Oliver also has a bit of a side to him. It was like that when she dragged Roman to the rowing club. When she asked him why he took him to the club, he shrugged his shoulders and said,

– You thought you would do well? I think I’ll do well, but what more do I need?

She guessed Oliver didn’t like the way the Knights treated Claire. Claire shook her head at her words. She said, lifting her teacup.

“That won’t be it. I think it probably reminded me of you, Eugenie.”

“Me?”

“I heard you had a short mouth when you were young, so you had trouble eating?”

Ah, she did. Everything was eating well now. To put it simply, she was a bit of a picky eater.

Did Oliver even say that? She smiled awkwardly out of embarrassment. Claire continued talking while fiddling with her teacup.

“They wrapped the ham in a handkerchief and gave it to me.”

“Oh my God, is it a handkerchief?”

She couldn’t survive, really. She held her forehead and moaned. That kind of thing should only be done with family members, you stupid brother.

“Sorry. Oliver still does that sometimes. When he was drunk, he would sometimes put snacks in a handkerchief and leave them in my room.”

It happens very occasionally. Only when the bar sells things like cookies or scones. Thanks to this, her mother and she found out that he came back completely drunk the next morning.

“You get along well?”

She chuckled at Claire’s question of disbelief. Then he raised the teacup and asked.

“Aren’t all brothers and sisters like that? We want to kill each other, but we can’t forgive others for killing us.”

She was the only one who could criticize Oliver. No matter how much he was a person who deserved to be criticized, he couldn’t tolerate being criticized by people other than his family.

Claire looked like she was thinking about something about her explanation. she didn’t know why you looked like that. She knew that sometimes siblings don’t get along well. Usually it’s because of wealth. Or maybe it’s because of marriage. He heard that there are cases where the older brother or older sister marries the person the younger brother likes, resulting in a falling out. But Oliver and they were brother and sister, and there was no way they would marry someone they both like. Our family doesn’t have enough wealth to fight.

“Why? I thought I had a bad relationship with Oliver?”

Claire opened her mouth to answer my question. At that time, he employee came up to me and spoke in a low voice.

“A guest has arrived.”

“Ask them to come up.”

“He just said he wanted to talk outside for a moment.”

“Are you a man?”

The employee shook his head. She held out the business card she had given me as if she had finally remembered it. Erica Rogoso. She excused herself for a moment from Claire and got up.

“Lady Biscon.”

Erica was standing at the entrance to the ship. She could come in. She greeted her and asked her out to other people who had come to her boat to take her swimming.

“Why don’t you come up?”

Many people look for boats even if they don’t swim. Last time, Lisa and Erica didn’t swim either and just drank tea. But Erica shook her head and said,

“I have to go soon. I have to take care of her sister.”

Oh, that’s right. She quickly asked about Baroness Kernell’s condition and Erica shook her head. There didn’t seem to be any improvement.

“You asked me before whether I had thought about how I would live after breaking off my engagement, right?”

It was like that. Her expression hardened at Erica’s words. Erica’s words soon followed.

“I also asked if I could handle the consequences.”

To put it a little harshly, it was like that. If there are no suitors after breaking off an engagement, we may have to enter a monastery. In the worst case scenario, you may have to marry a man worse than your current fiancé. It’s her life. It’s Erica’s life and Erica’s choices. There wasn’t even a single thing she could comment on. All she could do was support her choice.

“I can handle it.”

As Erica continued, she stared at her blankly for a moment. really? To be honest, she thought she would keep her engagement. She was told that Lord Turner had been insensitive, rude and selfish. After she left, Julia talked for a while about what she had heard. But still, she thought there was a good chance that Erica would marry Lord Turner. It’s sad to say this, but she heard that Miss Rogoso’s family was poor, Erica’s older sister Imelda was unconscious, and Imelda’s husband, Baron Canal, was infatuated with his new mistress. She thought Erica should take care of her own life first. But the direction she thought of Erica’s life and the life she thought of was a bit different.

“I’ve thought about it. Can I live with Jeffrey?”

Erica said and clasped her own hands. She continued, twisting her gloved hands.

“But, I can’t do it. He insulted me. He insulted my sister and insulted my family. Will she be able to stay sane while marrying someone like that?”

A deep sigh escaped her. So did she. Awning insulted her. He insulted her family. The fact that he loved someone of the same sex was not that important. No, it was important. But if he had been honest with her and respected her, she might not have broken off the engagement.

“Between living miserably as Mrs. Turner and living honorably to her sister and myself even though it is difficult, I will choose the latter.”

Sadly, and somewhat happily, Erica made the same choice I did. she asked, removing her own hand from her wringing and holding it out to me.

“You said you would support my choice, right?”

It was like that. She nodded at her and took her hand. Erica demanded from her with a stern expression.

“Please come with me when I break off my engagement with Jeffrey.”

She promised so. She was the Count’s daughter, Lady Biscon. The words she speaks should have a power stronger than her life.

She answered thoughtfully.

“All right.”
