Obsessed with Regressors

CHAPTER 18.5

Eugenie continued, unfolding the blanket Elliot had folded.

“I am Lady Biscon. So I hope not to be very troublesome.”

“I don’t care what kind of lady you are, Eugenie.”

Elliot took Eugenie’s unfolded blanket from her and began to fold it again. Oh really. He said to her as she let out an annoyed sigh.

“I like you because you are you.”

That’s a foul. Eugenie glared at Elliot, who put down her folded blanket in front of her again and motioned for her to sit down.

“And I’m stronger than you.”

Elliot grinned as he said that. Unlike her blunt attitude a moment ago, Elliot’s face instantly turned mischievous. Eugenie was mesmerized by his face and sat down on the blanket without even realizing it.

Ugh. It passed. Eugenie sighed and said,

“The one you fell in love with was probably the noble Lady Biscon from your dream.”

“Oh, no.”

Elliot denied Eugenie’s words by taking the bottle out of the picnic basket. He grinned at her as he uncorked her. Then he deftly took out the glass and poured a drink as he spoke.

“It’s you I like, Eugenie. Not Miss biscon, not Lady Biscon, not noble Lady Biscon, just Eugenie.”

It was a cold confession, but Eugenie’s face suddenly heated up. It’s something she had never heard before. She started to gape, not knowing what to say. Meanwhile, Elliot poured the drink and handed the glass into Eugenie’s hand. She thought it was tea, but it was lemonade.

“About Awning…”

Eugenie took the glass and opened her mouth. It’s not a very welcoming name. Elliot frowned at her, but when she looked at Eugenie, she returned to her expressionless face as if she had never done that before.

“You already knew, right? He had a male lover.”

For a split second, Elliot stared at Eugenie. The news of Sir Rencid’s death was not a big deal at first. It was after the existence of the man with Sir Rensid became known that people in the social circles started talking loudly about it.

“If anyone dies with a prostitute sitting next to him in a carriage, there will be a lot of rumors.”

That meant he knew. Eugenie took a sip of lemonade. She had been curious for a while. The reason why Elliot was so rude to Awning. At first, she thought he was just hitting on Elliot because he was sensitive to him. But even more than her counterpart being sensitive, Elliot’s attitude was rude.

“Okay then.”

What question are you trying to ask? She said causing Elliot’s one eyebrow to raise. Eugenie was fiddling with her teacup when she glanced up at him and asked cautiously:

“Was the reason you disliked Awning because of his tendencies?”

Elliot paused for a moment at the question she hadn’t even thought of. He looked at Eugenie blankly, then unconsciously frowned at her and tilted her head. Did she hear correctly? In response to that response, Eugenie quickly added:

“Oliver really disliked you. I’ve been curious about this for a while. Why did you hate Awning so much?”

Oliver was very disgusted. Of course, he was more angry at the fact that he had deceived the Biscon family than at Awning’s tendencies. Seeing her brother like that, Eugenie thought that maybe Elliot’s disdain for Awning was because of his tendencies.

“No.”

Elliot spoke neatly as he straightened up the shoes Eugenie had taken off. His dislike of earnings had nothing to do with his inclinations. Among his subordinates, there are several people who like the same sex as Aening. But he made it clear he wasn’t really interested. He had no interest in who was doing what. Unless it’s a crime. Oh, of course she was not interested in crime either. The reason he restricted himself to no crime was simple. He and his company should not be involved in crime. That way he won’t harm Eugenie when he’s by her side.

“Then why did you hate him so much?”

Seeing Eugenie’s curious expression, Elliot felt a little helpless and leaned back against her.

“Are you seriously asking?”

If you’re not asking sincerely, what is? A question mark appeared on Eugenie’s face. “Huh,” Elliot let out a moan and straightened his back. And he leaned towards Eugenie and whispered, as if he were telling something very secret.

“Because he was your fiancé.”

“Gasp,” Eugenie’s mouth fell open. The obvious fact hit her hard on the back of the head. For a while, Eugenie was shocked by something she didn’t know, and she just stared at Elliot’s face in a daze. Her face was so cute that Elliot grinned without realizing it. I had no idea she really didn’t know. He said, slightly pulling away from her in Eugenie’s honor.

“We will act more proactively in the future.”

“Oh, no, no…”

Eugenie waved her hand in her embarrassment. It doesn’t have to be that way. Elliot, seeing her embarrassed, finally burst out laughing.

‘It’s so cute I’m dying.’

Eugenie, seeing Elliot smiling, realized that he had made fun of her and wrinkled her nose. She did not like it. He didn’t listen, but he was laughing so boyishly that she didn’t feel like getting angry.

“You’re being mischievous, Count Burns.”

When Elliot, who had been laughing for a while, began to chuckle, Eugenie sipped her lemonade and pouted. He has shown affection for Eugenie from the beginning. But she had no idea that Elliot was jealous of Awning, because she had a fiancé and she never thought he liked her.

“Then in your dreams the noble Lady Biscon was not married?”

Elliot, who was drinking her drink, stopped at Eugenie’s question. He asked, looking at her while holding her teacup.

“Are you sure you want to know?”

Of course. Eugenie was about to nod her head but then stopped. Lord Lannon said that the noble Lady Biscon had never married. She even said there were rumors that she hated men. But Eugenie couldn’t believe it. She never married? Although she has never dreamed of marrying someone, she is a young lady from a noble family. She grew up learning that she should marry a nobleman, start her own family, and rule over that family. She said she wasn’t married at all. She even said she hated men.

“You are right. It’s better not to know.”

Maybe Elliot’s dream and Sir Lannon’s dream are a little different. She felt slightly repulsed when it occurred to her that several people’s dreams might be exactly the same. Elliot grinned at Eugenie, who decided that it was better not to know. His Highness Viscon was like that too. Of course, unlike Lady Biscon, she was rarely better off not knowing.

“It was natural for me to be scolded for touching His Majesty’s body. I’m not angry because it’s natural.”

The story returned to the dream in which he saved the noble Lady Biscon. Eugenie wondered what that meant for a moment, but then he understood and bit his lip. It occurred to her that, if the noble Lady Biscon of her dreams had really been her, she would not have given her a life sentence for touching her body. Count Burns saved the king. He deservedly received the award along with a thank you note. The fact that she didn’t do that means there was something more important to do.

“I don’t think it was a punishment for you.”

After saying that, Eugenie quickly added:

“Oh, of course you were punished. I mean I didn’t warn you.”

She didn’t know what he was talking about. Elliot took off his jacket and placed it on Eugenie’s shoulders as the wind picked up a little. Thanks to this, she now had the shawl wrapped around her jacket, covering it with Elliot’s jacket as well. If she caught a cold, he wouldn’t even let her get out of bed. Eugenie wrinkled the bridge of her nose as she thought so. However, Elliot’s scent on her jacket was quite nice, which made her feel better.

“The king. A king must have dignity. To the point where I don’t even dare to think about touching it.”

Only then could she survive. Anyone can try to dispose of a king who is easy on anyone.

It was important to give the perception that he was someone who cannot be touched. That way, he could stop even if he tried to assassinate him. There are many people whose lives were saved in a split second. Eugenie appeared in Elliot and Claire’s dreams and she thought that was why she scolded Elliot so harshly.

“Like a stake for an elephant?”

Eugenie’s forehead wrinkled at Elliot’s words. What is it? Elliot, seeing her expression, explained simply.

“It is said that if an animal called an elephant is tied to a stake when it is young, it can run away when it becomes an adult, but it cannot escape because of its childhood memories.”

Even with his explanation, Eugenie’s distorted expression did not seem to ease. Don’t you know what an elephant is? Elliot opened her mouth again.

“An elephant is an animal with a long nose…”

“I know what an elephant is.”

She looked in the book. Her strange expression wasn’t because she didn’t know what kind of animal an elephant was or because Elliot’s explanation was surprising. Of course, she didn’t know elephants did that.

Eugenie sighed and said,

“It sounds really terrible.”

She didn’t sound that terrible. Elliot thought so, but she quickly apologized.

“The analogy is wrong. Sorry.”

“No. There was nothing wrong with your analogy. Just…”

Just? She said causing Elliot’s one eyebrow to raise. Eugenie looked down at her teacup and said.

“I was using you. This is the person who helped me. I had nothing to say even if I was called a witch.”

“Eugenie.”

Elliot’s face hardened. He put down the glass, walked over to Eugenie’s side, and knelt down on her knees. That wasn’t exploitation. It wasn’t like he helped. Count Burns was the sword and shield of the noble Lady Biscon. He was proud of that fact. Saving her was just the natural thing to do. So she wasn’t helping. But Eugenie didn’t know that. Elliot spoke cautiously.

“That’s not why you were called a witch.”

Witch Biscon. Many people called her that. A witch. Of course, this was partly because she punished those who committed sins mercilessly. However, there was another reason why she was called Witch Biscon.

“Because miracles happened around you.”

Eugenie, who had been sullen, raised her head at Elliot’s words. A miracle? She didn’t understand so she asked.

“It’s a miracle, but why am I a witch?”

If she works a miracle, wasn’t she usually a saint? Elliot grinned and said to Eugenie, who looked confused.

“Because they’re afraid of you.”
