Obsessed with Regressors

CHAPTER 16.3

Ex-fiancé, right. She heard that Lady Devon also requested an end to the engagement.

“There are a lot of broken engagements.”

The words that were all in her head but could not be said came out of Julia’s mouth. Oh my. She gave Julia a shake of her head, who shrugged her shoulders, catching the look in her mother’s eyes. Then she whispered to Elliot and her.

“It seems the Count is not happy that she broke off the engagement.”

Of course. She took a sip of tea and then paused. Oh my god. It was cold.

“Here.”

At that time, Elliot called the servant. He took the teacup from her hand and held it out to the servant.

“Bring warm tea back to Lady Biscon. To the Countess, too.”

He must have noticed that she paused. He didn’t have to do that. Oh, of course you have to do that to your mother. Her mother frowned as she felt the teacup was cold and then she held it out to the servant. See, she hated it.

“Sorry. I hadn’t even thought about it.”

Fortunately, her mother seemed to be relieved by Elliot’s apology. He turned his head to her again after hearing her mother say it was okay.

‘Oh, we were talking. I whispered to him so that her mother wouldn’t hear.’

“Would anyone welcome their child breaking off an engagement?”

“Even if it’s someone like Lord Rencid?”

“It’s not that my mother doesn’t like the fact that I broke off the engagement with Awning, it’s that she hates the breakup itself.”

If possible, she probably wanted to break off the engagement quietly. Because she did that too. Elliot nodded his head at her explanation, then took the teacup from the servant and handed it to her. This time it’s warm tea. Although it was summer, it was a bit cool in the morning. She sipped her warm tea and thought it was a good thing I brought a shawl. It seems to be a little cool in the evening.

“Let’s depart!”

As soon as the referee shouted, the flag went up. Shouts of “Waaaa” followed, and the men on the long, narrow boat began rowing in unison.

“It’s fast.”

Julia, who was standing on the boat watching the game, said with admiration. She knew. She watched the boat sailing through the water. It looks like Oliver’s hard practice has paid off. The men sitting side by side rowing looked similar, as if they were one body.

“I was hoarse from screaming like that.”

Her mother looked at Oliver shouting out commands and said she was worried. Oliver was sitting in the opposite direction from the other players, looking in the direction the ship was moving. That means we don’t see Oliver’s face.

“Oliver doesn’t row.”

As Julia said, not only was Oliver sitting in the opposite direction from the other players, but he wasn’t even rowing. I think he said he was the boss. Is it because he is the captain?

“It’s because it’s a Cox.”

At that time, Elliot spoke. Cox? When she looked up, he slightly tilted his head and explained.

“To put it simply, he is the head of the court.”

Oliver also said he was the captain. She looked at her brother again. She thought he was always lounging around at home or hanging out at the club, but it seems he had a talent for rowing.

“Oliver! Cheer up!”

“Baron Biscon, fighting!”

There were occasional shouts of support for Oliver not only from us but also from all over the place. Of course, there were also voices cheering for other players. However, among those who supported Oliver, there were quite a few women. Among them, there were people she didn’t know well.

“Her.”

She looked at the back of Oliver’s head again. This is kind of surprising. She knew there were women who like her older brother. But at best, she thought they were young girls who didn’t know Oliver very well. However, the number of women cheering for Oliver there was quite large and their ages varied.

“Why?”

Lauren asked after seeing her expression.

“I feel like I’m discovering a new world.”

“A new world?”

The problem was that it was a world she didn’t really want to know about. She said, puffing out my cheeks.

“Oliver is quite popular with women?”

“Quite?”

Julia asked with an expression that asked what she meant, and she said, pointing to the people watching on the riverside and the people watching on the boat.

“Everyone out there is cheering for Oliver.”

“No. What I meant was that Oliver wasn’t quite popular.”

“Isn’t it quite popular?”

“It’s very popular.”

Oh my god. She was dumbfounded and said it without realizing it.

“What is going on in the world?”

“Eugenie!”

Her mother quickly scolded her, but Julia and Lauren had already started laughing. She couldn’t believe it. How could Oliver be so popular with the girls?

“Because Baron Biscon is handsome.”

Even Lauren said that, leaving her speechless. Julia has also said that before. She also said that she was blessed. The problem was that that handsome man was her older brother, who she grew up with.

“It looks like you don’t believe me when I say that Baron Biscon is handsome.”

When she sat down at a loss for words, Elliot sat next to her and asked. She believed that Oliver was handsome. He had seen friends who had crushes on Oliver a few times in his life. She didn’t know he would be this popular. She spoke in a voice weary from the fatigue of discovering a new world.

“I saw Oliver crying because he was scared to go to the bathroom.”

Elliot’s eyebrows rose.

“When?”

“Probably when I was five years old.”

And this time, Elliot caught her laughing too. So, do you think Oliver cried because he was scared to go to the bathroom at this age? She realized what he had misunderstood and spoke harshly.

“When you were seven, you probably cried because you were scared to go to the bathroom?”

“I didn’t.”

“You’re not afraid to go to the bathroom after the sun goes down?”

“No.”

That couldn’t be possible. She looked at him with an expression telling me not to lie, and Elliot also started looking at me.

‘Damn, you look good.’

She looked at Elliot’s thick eyebrows, his chiseled nose, and his chiseled jawline, and she sighed. The same feelings she had for Elliot, the women in society have for Oliver. Ugh, she just thought.

“Count.”

At that time, Elliot’s servant approached them. He took one look at her, apologized for disturbing her, and then turned to Elliot.

“She was asking if she could check the ship.”

“However?”

Elliot asked coldly. She looked so different that Eugenie wondered if she was the same person who was smiling and talking with her just moments ago. The servant spoke as if he was used to his attitude.

“She said she is the Countess of Devon. Should I refuse?”

“Wait a minute.”

At the risk of being rude, she intervened in the conversation between Elliot and the servant.

“You said the Countess of Devon wanted to look at the ship? Why?”

The servant looked at Elliot as if asking his permission. And when Elliot nodded, he told her.

“She wants to check if anyone came in.”

They were the only people on this boat. Her and her mother, Julia and Lauren. They could  probably exclude Elliot, the boat owner. She looked at Elliot, not knowing what was going on. Then he said expressionlessly.

“This is someone I never invited.”

“Elliot.”

She quickly called him. The reason was so strange that they wanted to check if anyone had come in. The Countess would know that if she wanted to go on board, it would be better to make the excuse that she wanted to say hello to us.

“I’m sorry for interrupting.”

She quickly apologized. This was Elliot’s ship and the servant was also Elliot’s servant. It would be rude for her to intervene. But someone she knew came out and she couldn’t help but intervene.

“No.”

Elliot said. He turned to her and spoke sweetly.

“You can intervene as much as you want, whenever you want.”

The words were as kind as the tone of voice. She was about to say thank you, but stopped when she saw the servant’s face. He had an expression on his face as if he had smelled a very bad smell.

“But.”

Then, Elliot opened his mouth again. He turned his head to the servant and continued his speech.

“No one else.”

“Wait.”

There were clearly unavoidable circumstances for the Countess of Devon to come here and ask for his favor. She said, putting her hand on Elliot’s arm to bring his attention to her.

“I know her. Can’t you help me?”

Elliot’s eyes turned to her hand on his arm. Oh, was it unpleasant? When she tried to take her hand away, he covered hers with his hand. And he looked at her and asked:

“What do I get if I help the Countess?”

What did he get? Elliot wouldn’t suffer any loss by letting her look at his boat. But before she could say that, Elliot spoke as if he had read her thoughts.

“Isn’t that robbing me of time to talk alone with you?”

Oh I love him. He’s so opportunistic and sly, but fully respects her every opinion. I really love how he pretends in front of her to evoke caring responses from her. In reality this would be so bad. But in fiction? Hell yeah boy, get your ACT on!
