Obsessed with Regressors

CHAPTER 15.8

She bit her lip. She almost reflexively ran into the living room. But the reason she couldn’t do that was because Elliot was still holding her hand. She forgot. She tugged at her hand to let go of Elliot’s. But at that moment, she heard her mother’s voice.

“Sonia, my daughter pretended not to notice that Awning was roaming the streets in ways that were unspeakable to her. If the people of the Rensid family were using a black hat, they wouldn’t have even dared to come to this house.”

She was surprised by her mother’s words and her mouth dropped open. What more should they be surprised about? Did her mother know what streets Awning roamed? Or was she speaking so harshly to Viscountess Rensid to provoke her? At that time, Elliot suddenly hugged her. And whispered into her ear.

“Please forgive my rudeness.”

What? In the blink of an eye, Elliot picked her up and went into another room. What? What did he do?

“This…”

She was about to get angry and ask what this was, when he put his finger to his mouth again. And she checked the hallway through the slightly open door. Only then did she hear the sound of shoes approaching this way. Wow, she was almost in big trouble. Through the crack in the door, she saw Viscountess Rensid passing through the hallway. She must have been angry to leave without being seen off by the butler.

She watched her leave, her breath still, in case her Viscountess turned around and found them. Then something felt strange, so she looked up and saw Elliot looking down at her.

“Huh?”

He was looking down at her and smiling. She felt a little strange. Elliot often looks at her with this expression. It’s an expression she had never seen on Awning or anyone she knew. The next moment, she realized she was leaning against his chest.

“Oh my god!”

As she stepped back in surprise, she realized another thing. She even climbed on top of his feet. To be exact, it was on the shoes Elliot was wearing.

“My shoes!”

As she was going to secretly listen to the conversation between her mother and Viscountess Rensid, she took off her shoes and walked. She was holding the shoes in her hand, but she didn’t know where they went. Elliot approached her while she was confused. Before she could say anything, he picked her up again and sat her down on a nearby chair. And lifting up his finger he said:

“Stay there.”

She didn’t know what to point out first. Should she tell people not to move people around like this, or should she tell them not to tell her to do this or that? But before she could point it out, Elliot turned around and walked out of her room. That guy? She was dumbfounded, so she gaped at his mouth and looked at the door he left through. Then he turned his head and looked down at the floor. Where did she put her shoes? It was clearly being held in the hallway. Suddenly, I remembered that he was carrying me into the restaurant. It was clear that he was startled and dropped it. Just as I was getting up to look for it, Elliot came into the restaurant with my shoes. Elliot saw her standing up from her chair and she raised an eyebrow. She didn’t like that expression. It was a very handsome expression, but she didn’t really like it in this situation.

“Eugenie.”

Elliot came in front of her and got down on one knee. She quickly declined because he held her foot as if he was going to put her shoes on.

“I can at least put my shoes on on my own.”

“I know.”

She never thought she could say no to rejection. She had no choice but to sit down on the chair and start glaring at Elliot who was putting her shoes on. It must have stung quite a bit, but he didn’t care.

‘Please do me a favor and I hope no one comes in here right now.’

“Is there anything uncomfortable?”

Elliot asked after putting on the shoes. He speaks like a servant. She tried to tell him it was okay, but his expression was so serious that she shook his foot lightly. To begin with, I’ve been wearing those shoes before. There was a more important issue than that. She started to get up but stopped when she saw Elliot still kneeling in front of me. And to warn him, he said:

“Elliot, thank you for helping me, but I don’t want you to carry me around like a piece of luggage again.”

It’s not a good feeling to have her body moved regardless of her opinion. Of course, she understood that was much easier for Elliot. It would have been quicker to pick me up and carry me than to explain it to me in a short amount of time and then go with me to the restaurant. She sighed and tried to say that she understood it was because she was in a hurry. But Elliot was smiling. Very wide. There was a large dog at home. It’s a gardener’s dog and he loved her very much. Probably because she convinced her mother to let me garden. My mother didn’t like it very much because it was black and almost as big as me. I played with Mick and shared her treats when the gardener was busy. So there were times when she looked forward to returning home after the social season. When Mick saw her carriage, he ran up to greet her. And now he welcomes me with the same expression as Elliot.

“Why?”

The problem was that Elliot was not Mick. Oh, and of course it’s not a dog. It may be similar in that it is black and large. And Mick only makes this look when he sees me again after not seeing me for a long time. She asked Elliot, not knowing why he was making such an expression, and the next moment he quickly backed away. In her experience, Mick lunges at me with this look on his face and licks her face profusely. I’m sure Elliot doesn’t do the same.

“No.”

Luckily, Elliot didn’t lunge at her and lick her. He stood up and looked down at her with a cheerful expression on his face.

“Because I like it.”

Wasn’t it really Mick? She gave him a suspicious look. If Mick was transformed into a human, she didn’t think he would be this young. The next moment, Elliot erased his smile and spoke again.

“Sorry. I don’t want you standing on the cold floor.”

She did not know what to say. Her eyes reflexively turned to Elliot’s shoes. Come to think of it, she was on top of his feet when she entered the restaurant.

“Oh.”

Uh, really, what could she say? She was staring at Elliot with her mouth wide open at something she had never even thought of. Then Elliot knelt in front of her again and said.

“From next time, I will be careful not to make you feel like a burden.”

“Uh, that’s right.”

“And we will have tea next time.”

‘Oh my god, the car!’

She was startled and grabbed Elliot’s shoulder. Sorry. Since he brought her here, she had to treat him to tea. But when she heard that Viscountess Rensid had come to visit, she completely forgot about it. Elliot smiled when he saw her embarrassed appearance. He put his hand on her hand and said, holding her shoulder.

“Alternatively, it’s okay if you come to see my house and have a meal.”

“Oh my god, I’m sorry.”

“See you next time.”

She should do that. She saw Elliot off with the butler. Fortunately, her mother didn’t seem to know that she had come home with Elliot.

“Vix, please prepare a carriage. And I want you to keep it a secret from my mother that I came in.”

As soon as Elliot left, she asked the butler for a favor. He asked, focusing on her first request.

“Where are you going?”

“I have a place to visit briefly.”

The butler’s face darkened. She added quickly to reassure him.

“I’ll take Shirley with me.”

Since she recently returned with an arm injury, her mother and Vix were opposed to her going out into the city alone. Those who bring a companion are only minors or those in need of assistance. However, to put her mother and Vix at ease, it would be better to bring a companion. Just as she thought, he nodded and soon Anne came out, ready.

“Where are you going?”

“Coffee house. You can go with Shirley.”

Anne has been through so much lately that she seems reluctant to go out with me. That’s why she said she would go with Shirley. She asked Shirley if she was busy and Anne shook her head and said,

“It’s my job to take care of her.”

“A lot of bad things happened when you went out with me.”

So she felt a bit sorry for taking Ann with her. Anne shook her head at my guilty words. And she spoke firmly.

“I will follow you wherever you go. And she will never, ever run away alone again.”

Only then did she remember that when she had been kidnapped with Anne before, she had let her escape alone. Both then and now, she thought she did a good job back then. Anne was a collateral victim and she wouldn’t have gone through that if she hadn’t been by her side. She thought that even if she were to go back to that time again, she would make Anne run away first, but she didn’t say anything.

“Hello, Awning.”

When she arrived at the coffee house, she walked to where Awning usually sits and said hello to him. Awning was startled by her appearance, but she paid no attention and told the employee who followed her.

“I’ll be out soon.”

In the first place, he wasn’t chasing her to take her order. Coffee houses were exclusively for men. So, he probably never thought that he would be able to see her here.

“Are you crazy?”
