Obsessed with Regressors

CHAPTER 15.11

Oliver did that. Sir Marlin would come to apologize. The problem was that that was a few days ago. Since she didn’t hear from them right away, she thought her brother was bluffing, but she guessed it was because she was beaten so hard. She was a bit sorry. She offered him a seat. She didn’t know if she could drink tea even if it was served. Her lips burst like that.

“I came to ask you a favor.”

Huh? Her eyes widened at Sir Marlin’s sudden words. If he was asking her to hit Oliver, She couldn’t grant it. She usually wanted to hit her older brother, but she couldn’t hit him just because he acted for her. When she didn’t say anything, Sir Marlin hesitated for a moment and then spoke.

“Could you please talk to Miss Esma?”

“What are you talking about?”

She was not that close to Miss Esma. They knew each other and said hello, but they haven’t really talked to each other. She didn’t know what Sir Marlin was talking about. Why did Miss Esma appear here? He said to her who was confused.

“I made a mistake last time and Miss Esma said she would break off the engagement. If you would go to her and tell her that I have offered her apology and that Lady Viscon has accepted her apology…”

“Lord Marlin.”

I know what you mean. Not wanting to hear any more, I quickly cut him off. So, the reason she came to apologize to me was because Miss Esma said she was breaking off the engagement, so she came in a hurry to put out the fire. It’s not because she thought it’s wrong to make a crude joke about her. It was so absurd that she laughed. She looked again at the traces of him being hit by Oliver. Now she could see that his bruises had turned purple. Oliver would have said he would come to apologize to her the day he hit Sir Marlin. Sir Marlin had no intention of doing so. This meant that he did not move even after being hit by his brother.

“I don’t know why you’re asking me to do that.”

She said, lifting the teacup the maid brought her. As I thought, Lord Marlin was having trouble drinking tea because his lips were sore. He tried to frown but then said with a pained expression.

“Isn’t that what Lady Biscon said to Miss Esma? So she said she was going to break off her engagement.”

“Thank you for thinking that my opinion has that much power.”

To think that one word from her would ruin one of the most important things: marriage. she had no idea that Sir Marlin thought so highly of her. Of course she was being sarcastic. If he really thought highly of her, he wouldn’t have dared to tell such a vulgar rumor about her. She took a sip of tea and continued speaking.

“I didn’t say anything to Miss Esma. Because of something like that, I can’t say this or that to other people’s marriage talks.”

Lord Marlin’s face distorted. No, it’s already distorted, so there’s no need to distort it further. But he looked frustrated. Then he spoke to her again.

“But still, Lady Biscon can persuade her, right?”

“Why me?”

She didn’t even know Ms. Esma very well. All she knew about her was, wait. Was she Sir Esma’s daughter? The leader of the White Lion Knights. When it comes to the family of a knight commander, etiquette is very important. When she looks at Julia, she doubts she will, but she’ll get a lot better when she turns 20.

“Well, I can apologize.”

She frowned lightly as she thought of Miss Esma at Sir Marlin’s words. She understood why Miss Esma was trying to break off her engagement to Lord Marlin.

“Lord Marlin. You clearly misunderstand something.”

Miss Esma decided to break off the engagement with Lord Marlin based on her own judgment. She couldn’t believe he thought she could convince her of that.

She said, tilting her head.

“Why is your apology so great that I should be rude to Miss Esma?”

“Rude?”

“She decided for herself that she would not marry a man like you. Just like I do to Awning. I want to respect that.”

Sir Marlin’s mouth dropped open. It seems like something happened. She stopped in the middle because it hurt. But he quickly asked in disbelief.

“Is it okay to ruin someone else’s life like this?”

He had been saying strange things since a while ago. She couldn’t understand what Sir Marlin was saying, so she tilted his head and asked:

“Did I mess it up?”

“If you would just tell Miss Esma…”

“If you do it?”

How could he say that Miss Esma listens to her? She spoke quickly to stop Sir Marlin from making an excuse.

“I want anyone who comes into my house to have at least some level of intelligence. I think that’s the same for the Esma family.”

“What is that…”

Didn’t he understand? She spoke again for Sir Marlin.

“It takes a minimum of intelligence to distinguish between what to say and what not to say.”

“That was a mistake!”

Well, she guessed so. She nodded and said.

“If I made a mistake like you said, I should have at least had the intelligence to apologize before I got beaten up by the victim’s brother.”

Sir Marlin’s mouth dropped open. for a moment. I asked, feeling suspicious when I saw his surprised expression.

“You mean you said such mean things to someone and didn’t feel the need to apologize? In that case, it seems natural for the Esma family to break off the engagement.”

Even if she were Miss Esma, she would have broken off the engagement. It’s terrible that she had to marry an idiot who couldn’t tell what to say and what to say. Again Sir Marlin opened his mouth as if to say something. But then, he said the butler spoke through the open door.

“Miss, a guest has arrived.”

It’s Lauren. She deliberately asked you to come at this time. It was polite for the first guest to leave when other guests arrived. Unless she catched it. She turned to Sir Marlin and spoke kindly.

“I’m sorry I can’t help you.”

Sir Marlin seemed like he wanted to say something more, but he gave up when the butler came in. She told him to return carefully and left the living room. After that, Sir Marlin didn’t come to see me anymore. She heard he was a bit of a nuisance to Miss Esma. That’s not surprising. Because the earnings were like that too. Surprisingly, Awning became quiet from the day after meeting me. Not only him, but his mother too. She thought she could hear people spreading bad rumors about her, but then she completely calmed down.

“I guess Oliver was scared.” said her mother, who was reading the newspaper in the living room. She thought of Oliver, who skipped breakfast and went to rowing practice, and shook his head.

She was told that Oliver had challenged Awning to a duel. She says he was told that he should be put to death because he had tarnished her brother’s honor. Since when did you ask for such manners?

“You’re not going to chase him and have a duel, are you?”

Her mother looked at her in surprise at her question. Dueling was illegal but her mother said it was not because she was illegal, but because she was worried that Oliver would get hurt during the duel. Oh, of course she was worried too. Oliver’s swordsmanship skills aren’t that great. But that doesn’t mean that the earnings are great.

“No way. I believe he is not that irresponsible.”

When her mother said this, she was about to ask her if she had seen Lord Marlin’s face. She heard that although his face was a mess, his body had few injuries. The bone was slightly cracked. When she asked Oliver why he messed up his face like that, he shrugged his shoulders and said,

-You can hide it somewhere else. You have to set an example.

It probably means that this is an example of what happens if you mess with your younger sibling. The effect of that example was so great that all unpleasant rumors about me and Cunt Burns disappeared.

“Eugenie! Eugenie!”

At that time, Julia’s voice was heard from the front door. After that, the butler continued to nag me not to run in the hallway, so it seemed like Julia had barged in. Her mother and she looked into each other’s eyes. Although Julia was a bit lively, she’s not the kind of person who comes running screaming into someone else’s house. Just as they were getting up from their seats to ask what was going on, Julia ran into the living room and said,

“Awning said there was a fight!”

What? The first thing that came to mind was that Oliver ended up having a duel with Awning. She asked Julia with her white face if it was the same for her mother.

“What about Oliver? Is he hurt?”

“Oliver?”

Julia looked as if she didn’t know what she meant by her mother’s question. She then looked back at her and she asked.

“Oliver had a fight with Awning?”

She guessed Oliver didn’t duel with Awning? She asked Julia, taking one look at her mother.

“Who was Awning fighting with?”

“With his friends. I heard there was an uproar because of that?”

Friend? She looked at her mother once again. That friend couldn’t be Oliver, right?

“Who is his friend?”

“Why, the person who always walks around with an awning. What was your name, Mal, Mal…”

“Marcel Hudson?”

She just threw it out there just in case, but Julia’s eyes widened. She shouted, pointing her finger at me.

“Oh, that person!”

Marcel and Awning fought? She gaped in confusion and her mother asked curiously.

“What do you think is so great about fighting with your friend?”

“They said he was hurt.”

“Huh?”

Was he hurt? He got hurt in a fight?

If you fight, of course you would get hurt, right? She thought about Oliver. When Oliver got into a fight with his friend, at least one part of his face would get bruised. And if Oliver’s face was bruised, the other person’s face was broken somewhere. Of course, it was surprising that Awning fought to the point of hurting his opponent. Considering his recent actions, it didn’t seem that impossible.

“I guess there was a fuss when the doctor came.”

It seemed serious. Suddenly, she thought, what did that have to do with her? She broke off her engagement with Awning. They were now husband and wife, and judging by Viscountess Rencid’s actions, the relationship between our house and Viscountess Rencid has been shattered. When she looked at her mother, she noticed that her mother had also realized this and was sitting on the sofa again. She asked Julia as she sat back down on the sofa where she had been sitting.

“But where did you hear this story?”

This was a story that hasn’t even appeared in the newspapers yet. Even her mother, who spreads rumors, couldn’t hear it. Julia grinned at her question. Then she sat down across from her mother and said,

“The maid there knows my friend.”
