Obsessed with Regressors

“I am not interested.”

Now, they were treated like ordinary people. Elliot turned to her and opened the door. Now Imelda was offended by his attitude of asking her to leave.

“If that’s the case, why did you ask me to come in?” she said tearfully.

“You’d better listen.”

‘I’d rather not.’ Elliot was about to say that. When he shuts his mouth, she understands it as a sign of affirmation.

“I heard that Lady Biscon was with you when someone attacked Viscount Aston.”

However? Elliot looked at Baroness Kernel without changing his expression. Imelda continued her words with some impatience.

“But it is strange. At that time, I saw the Count alone.”

However? This time, Elliot’s head tilted slightly to the side. Imelda’s face contorted at the attitude of asking what was wrong with that. In the case of Viscount Aston’s attack, Eugénie was cleared of charges because Elliot gave her an alibi. Imelda knew that the alibi was fabricated. But Elliot didn’t care about that. Those who had already attacked Viscount Aston were caught and put in prison. Probably by now, the guards are using torture in the name of interrogation to get a confession.

Elliot let him go, because it would cause him more pain than killing him himself. He did not enjoy torture to inflict pain. Because that didn’t make him feel any better, it only made her feel better. Of course, if there was even the slightest chance that the criminal would be released from prison, Elliot would not have handed him over to the constable.

“If it’s the culprit, he’s already caught.”

His ambiguous language offended Imelda, but she tried not to show it. She has to catch Elliot. to survive. To do so, she was able to blackmail a man as fearsome as these rumors.

“But that doesn’t change the fact that the Count lied for Lady Biscon.”

However? Again, the look on Elliot’s face reminded her of what it has to do with it. Could it be that he helped Lady Biscon just for fun? Such an ominous thought flashed through Imelda’s mind. But she made up her mind and spoke again.

“Lady Biscon has a fiance. Wouldn’t people think it was strange if they knew that the Count had even provided a fake alibi for her?”

Elliot didn’t even laugh at her clumsy threat. He looked at Baroness Kernel with a pitiful look. There were any number of excuses. You could say he was trying to help because she was from the Biscons, to whom he was indebted, or it could be because Elliot saw the real culprit. But even so, the reason he didn’t kick out Baroness Kernel right away is because it’s Eugenie’s reputation that she’s trying to shake in her hand. Elliott thought for a moment who knew Baroness Kernel’s home.  That would be the butler, that soon would be loyal to Count Burns.

“Be my lover.”

Then, from Baroness Kernel’s lips, a demand that surprised even Elliot flowed. He involuntarily raised one eyebrow at the unbelievable request, and in the pleasure of eliciting a response from Count Burns, Imelda took a step closer to him, she said.

“It’s not really about dating. If you pretend to be my lover for one year…”

When Elliot made a face to continue speaking, Imelda hesitated for a moment before she spoke.

“I won’t tell anyone about your relationship with Lady Biscon.”

It didn’t matter if she talked. The astute baroness knew that Count Burns was interested in Lady Biscon. However, since she didn’t know if the feelings were two-sided or one-sided, he was probably keeping his mouth shut. Elliot didn’t care about his own reputation. The only thing that matters to him was Eugenie. He slowly put his hand on his waist. He has no intention of making enemies unnecessarily. However, if it was Eugenie Viscon that the other person was holding in his hand and trying to shake, it was not an enemy that could be ignored.

“Baroness Kernel, as you say, I have a special interest in Lady Biscon.”

Words flowed from his mouth. It’s not that he had a special interest, but he did. Imelda thought so. She did her own research on Count Burns. One day, he suddenly appeared at the castle and was awarded a title for defending the country from the dragon. And to his surprise he didn’t show any interest in the socialite. So she was a little surprised when she heard that Count Burns had provided an alibi for Lady Biscon. And she even found out that most of the events he attended were attended by Lady Biscon.

He was interested in a woman with a fiance.

Imelda thought this was his greatest weakness. She knew what noble betrothal and marriage were like.

“What does it matter that I fake a relationship with you over there?”

“We can cover each other.”

“A blindfold?”

“If you announce that you are dating me, people will not doubt your relationship with Lady Biscon so…”

Even if Lady Biscon got married, Count Burns may continue his unhealthy relationship with her. He didn’t follow her words, but the implied meaning was enough to upset Elliot. He tilted his head crookedly. And he said it without hiding his contempt.

“So you’re saying you’re going to cover it up while I’m having an affair?”

Yes. Imelda opened her mouth, but she couldn’t answer. Her eyes reddened, but Elliott stood still with a look of displeasure.

“To put it simply, yes.”

Elliott suppressed his anger at Imelda’s answer. Eugenie was not such a person. She’d rather give up her reputation and break off the engagement, she wasn’t the type to commit such immoral acts. He was angry that Baroness Kernel, in her own aristocratic society, didn’t know that, and he was angry that most people, not just Baroness Kernel, didn’t know.

“Baroness. You’d better thank Lady Biscon. She said ignorance is not wrong.”

Of course, Elliot didn’t think so. She was ignorant and wrong. But he thought everything about Eugenie was right, and if she was, then that’s it.

“And I would rather kill the person I love than kill the person I love.”

Elliot’s words widened Imelda’s eyes. She turned blue and withdrew as if running away. And she said hostilely.

“You are the same person.”

Imelda said so and quickly left. Elliot caught her and went out into the hallway to warn her not to gossip about Eugenie. But he hold out it since the butler, who was standing in front of the drawing room, was waiting.

“Lady Eugenie Biscon wants to visit.”

Elliot’s nerves went back to Eugenie when asked what to do. He said quickly.

“Lady Biscon is welcomed anytime. Doug!”

Whenever? Did it literally mean that late hours didn’t matter? The butler was about to ask that, but he shrugged his shoulders in surprise at the master’s voice looking for Doug. Doug and the others who had heard Elliot’s call from upstairs came out to ask what was going on. Elliot put on a look on his face asking the butler what he was doing instead of telling the Biscon’s servant their miss could come in.

“Check out the woman who just got out of here.”

Elliot said to Doug as the butler left to tell the servant from Biscon mansion that she was always welcome to visit. Her name was Imelda Kernel. Everything from their place in society to what Baron Kernel was like.

“Are you familiar with the baron Kernel?”

An hour later, when he gave permission to the Biscons’ servant to visit, Eugenie visited. Elliot greeted her personally and said he would show her around the house before taking her to her living room, as he walked down the hallway alone. It was a question to soften the atmosphere, but Eugenie’s reaction was strange. Elliot stopped her and looked into her face.

“Does the family have problems?”

There were so many problems. However, Eugenie was hesitant about how to explain it to Elliott. He was an upstart aristocrat, and it was embarrassing to tell him about the evils of aristocratic society. But someday he would find out. Eugenie opened her mouth, thinking that she wasn’t the mouth of luxury, and that it might be better for her to explain herself.

“Right now Baron Kernel is a bit of a bad rumor. What to say? He is very interested in the opposite sex.”

He knew what she was talking about. Elliot understood Eugenie’s words at once. He smiled and started walking again.

“He is having an affair.”

Eugenie sighed involuntarily. And he frowned and said.

“It’s a little embarrassing, but it’s not that rare among nobles to have a mistress.”

It’s not even to the extent that having a fixed mistress was considered cheating. Eugenie added quickly.

“I don’t agree.”

“Looks like Baron Kernel doesn’t have a unique lover.”

Yes. Eugenie knew about tens of thousands. But she didn’t talk about that part. She’s already said enough bad things about Baron Kernel. She didn’t want to add anything.

“Then what about Baroness Kernel?”

At Eliot’s question, Eugenie let out a sigh. With a sigh of regret, Elliot’s eyebrows raised. If she continues to feel sorry for Baroness Kernel, she thought to tell you what the Baroness was talking about today.

“I don’t agree with her actions, but I understand.”

“The baroness?”

“Recently, she got a lover.”

Okay? In Elliott’s mind, he recalled Baroness Kernel, who had come to him earlier and asked to be her fake lover. He asked Eugenie.

“You understand that?”

“I don’t agree.”

A look of disbelief came over Elliot’s face. Eugenie looked up at him, smiled, and lightly tapped the arm on which her hand was resting, with the other hand.

“I do not agree with having a mistress or lover, but I understand that the baroness has been patient enough.”

It means that she had a lover in rebellion against her husband’s cheating. Elliot nodded at Eugenie’s words. And as they reached the end of the hallway, he stopped and said.

“Actually, the baroness came to visit earlier and asked me to be her lover.”
