Her only solace is Hashim, a scholar of law. While enduring by learning the Kamar language from him, Anais finally gets an opportunity when Karim becomes the Padisha.
Having found a law stating that foreigners cannot exist in the Padisha’s harem, Anais manages to open a trial after great difficulty. The trial proceeds in an unpredictable direction.
