No Need For Regrets

NNFR Chapter 92

Chapter 92

It was early morning, yet the Rosenvester mansion was bustling.

“Is this really… the right thing?”

“….”

“Are you sure it’s okay?”

In response to Sereniel’s consecutive worries, Kina made a face as if she couldn’t stop her.

“Madam, I’m sorry, but I know that your cooking skills are not… well, not very good.”

“Uh-huh…”

“But I’ve been watching over you from start to finish, right? So it’ll be okay. Don’t worry too much.”

…I never dreamed that making soup could be so difficult.

Of course, even without me, Kina would make very delicious and nutritious food. But I wanted to do this myself especially after coming back from a difficult war and recovering Lexion.

“That’s right. Don’t worry, Miss.”

Vain, who was quietly listening to the conversation between the two, cautiously interjected.

“And besides, even if it tastes bad for once, what does it matter to the Duke? He’ll eat even if it’s made with muddy water if you made it.”

“That’s true.”

Kina nodded her head.

“Anyway, go see the Duke quickly. He will be waiting for you, not because he’s hungry, but because he misses you.”

“Yeah. Thanks for your help, Kina.”

“Oh, no need to thank me.”

Leaving Kina clapping her hands behind, Sereniel picked up the tray of cooled soup, water, and medicine. Then she started walking towards the bedroom.

…Lexion no longer used the second-floor bedroom. Since he returned from the war, the Rosenvester mansion’s bedroom had regained its original owner.

The two fell asleep together in one bed. Of course, there wasn’t much to do these past few days other than taking care of the injured Lexion.

Anyway, it was a good change.

“Duke, I’m coming in.”

As she cautiously opened the door, Lexion, who seemed to be waiting by sitting on the bed, was visible.

“Did you wait long?”

“Yeah.”

With bandages wrapped around his abdomen, Lexion looked at Sereniel and answered.

“Sorry. I tried to do it quickly, but my skills are just a mess.”

“It’s not about the meal, but about you. I felt like I was burning up just being away from you for a moment.”

“I think I misunderstood you all this time, Duke.”

“Why?”

Why didn’t she like to hear good things? Lexion asked with a slightly worried expression, and Sereniel, with slightly blushing cheeks, replied.

“I didn’t expect you to say such nice things so openly.”

“….”

“Instead, I thought you were the opposite.”

“Isn’t that right?”

Lexion said with a puzzled expression.

“I’m not the type to say nice things. What I say to you is always sincere.”

“….”

“Is that a problem?”

To be honest, this was even more surprising.

But it wasn’t a problem. Sereniel smiled slightly.

“No, it’s fine. You did that when you knew I wouldn’t say nice things.”

Sereniel muttered softly and started feeding Lexion soup busily.

Even though she wanted to see him fidget a little more, Sereniel was busy by herself.

“I’ve cooled it down, but still, just in case.”

As Sereniel fed him soup, Lexion looked like a baby somehow, and Sereniel suppressed her laughter alone.

…Of course, if Vain, Kina, or Johan heard this, they would have said that there was no such thing as an equivalent baby bird in the world, but well, that wasn’t so important.

“Now I’ll change your bandages.”

Reluctantly finishing feeding Lexion the soup, Sereniel busily set down the tray.

With new bandages and medicine placed on the bed, Sereniel began to unwind the bandages wrapped around Lexion’s torso.

“Hopefully, this will be enough.”

…On the day Lexion returned.

Those were the words Johan said when he came to visit him.

“While not a trivial injury, it’s not so severe as to be fatal, and the Duke, he always carries the phrase ‘hopefully, this will be enough.'”

Of course, Johan’s words were accurate. The doctor said the same. Though he had been stabbed in the side, luckily he hadn’t suffered any internal organ damage, and his robust health would ensure a quick recovery.

But that was their opinion, not Sereniel’s.

Sereniel’s face twisted painfully as she examined the wound. While it had been gradually healing over the past few days, it seemed that scarring was inevitable.

“I have many scars on my body.”

As if understanding her feelings, Lexion gently brushed his lips against hers.

“Some scars I remember how I got, others I don’t. But there’s one thing for sure.”

“….”

“These scars mean the most out of all the scars on my body.”

Reaching out, Lexion wiped away a tear from Sereniel’s cheek.

“I got these scars to protect you. To me, they’re not just simple scars, they’re like medals.”

“….”

“And also… though it will never happen, if we were to ever fight like any other ordinary couple… when you see these scars, wouldn’t you forgive me a little sooner?”

“….Pardon?”

“Of course, it’s just talk. While you may scold me at times, we’ll never fight like that.”

Lexion murmured softly.

“No, in fact, there’s never anything to scold you for. To me, you’re the law. So….”

“Do you know? Duke, you tend to be quite firm in peculiar ways.”

Smiling at his cute demeanor, Sereniel said.

“We could try everything, just like us.”

As Sereniel cleared away the bandages stained with pus, applied the medicine to the wound, and tenderly wrapped a new bandage around it, she said.

“We could fight, scold each other, get mad at each other… We’ll do everything together, just the two of us.”

“….”

“I’m already looking forward to it and I’ll work just as hard.”

For a moment, Lexion looked at Sereniel silently, then burst into laughter, releasing her lips.

“Are you saying you’ll fight hard with me, Sereniel?”

“Yes. We should always do our best! Whatever it is. Especially if it’s related to you, Duke.”

“You’re quite something.”

Is there anyone more terrifying than Sereniel, no matter which battlefield you go to?

“You’re not mocking me, are you?”

“Me, mocking you? How dare you even suggest that. Not unless I’m insane.”

“But you are. You seem to be.”

“No.”

Lexion laughed brightly, hugging Sereniel tightly, and Sereniel smiled happily in his embrace.

…And it was at that moment.

“Madam, Duke!”

Somehow, Kina appeared with a look of intense anger.

“…Kina?”

It was extremely rare for Kina to make such an expression. Something had clearly happened. Sereniel was about to ask what was wrong when Kina exclaimed.

“No, well… that damn bastard showed up!”

“That damn bastard?”

“Calian Helcar, he says!”
