“I also had quite a headache. The Gand Duke surrounded you like a jewel, so he hardly had time to contact you.”
“Because of residual magic?”
“That’s right. The princess is such a big customer that she doesn’t mind sending someone who isn’t a wizard. Among wizards, there are very few people who can fool the archduke, so it was a given procedure for me to step in from the beginning.”
In conclusion, the story was that the only way for Jesus to contact her was to infiltrate her in the form of a boy. Vivian lowered her voice. She had to be careful because she didn’t know when the maids she sent on errands would return.
“Have you found the way to destroy the magic circle?”
“An unexpected difficulty arose. It seems like it will take longer than expected to decipher the formula.”
“Is black magic that tricky? I thought a wizard of your level wouldn’t have a big problem.”
“It’s true that black magic is tricky, but it’s not a problem for me. However, the unexpected difficulty I mentioned earlier…”
Jesus’ voice became even lower.
“Demon Astaroth.”
His eyes shine brightly like a reptile. He felt a strong determination not to miss Vivian’s reaction even for a moment. But she didn’t even blink. Although it was surprising that that name came out so unexpectedly, just a few days ago, she had crossed the line between life and death with the black lion, which was no different from the second coming of the devil. Unlike people who still fear the name of Astaroth, in Vivian’s mind the image had been diluted to a quite cute level.
Jesus, who saw her like that, whistled at her as if admiring her.
“The magic circle engraved on you is definitely related to that. It would be nice if we could trace the engraved path. Anything that comes to mind?”
“Well. Not really…”
Vivian recalled the reverse illusion she saw in Aslan in his black lion state. Her pentagram resembled its upside-down appearance. The next thing she thought of was the imprint on the heart of the original heroine.
In the original work, it was described as the only means of subjugating Aslan, who was in a magical state, and as a contract that would lead to life and death with him.
‘But I have never had physical relations with Aslan. The imprint would not be able to be established.’
She glanced at Jesus, who was sitting across from her.
‘Someone mortgaged your life. It’s terrible black magic. If this magic circle is activated, your heart will explode and you will die.’
‘The magic circle is suppressing the princess’ lung disease. This thing called black magic has a stronger desire to monopolize than you might think. I don’t really like it when my sacrifice dies from causes other than myself.’
But he couldn’t help but think about what if.
This was because the explanation she heard on the first day she met Jesus was very similar to the ‘imprint’ of the original. If the condition for activating the magic circle is Aslan’s death, and the reason why the condition of the lung disease has not worsened in the past two or three months is because of imprinting. Most of the things she had ever wondered about were explained. Also, the truth must not be revealed.
‘The moment the person he has imprinted on betrays him, the contract will be broken and Aslan’s heart will burst and he will die. No one should know that Aslan was imprinted on me.’
She couldn’t trust him so much that she put up an iron defense. If he found out the truth, she really didn’t know what would happen.
Vivian shook her head, pretending not to have thought of anything.
“I don’t even know when the magic circle was created. Is it really you who went to the trouble of coming here just to ask the truth?”
That couldn’t have been possible. Vivian suspected that Jesus was hiding something. Once he did, he had to dig out of it. Jesus in the original had a strong sense of pride. In response to Vivian’s question, which was clearly a provocation, as expected, he twisted the corner of his mouth as if not to be taken lightly.
“I found out why the dark magic on you was incomplete. The answer was the princess’s blood.”
“My blood?”
“Because the princess is a pureblood Eleonora, the black magic was not activated properly.”
Vivian’s mother was her immediate cousin Eleonora, and her father was her collateral cousin Eleonora, who was her eighth cousin. Jesus explained that since both of her parents were of Eleonora blood, Vivian had the blood closest to the first Eleonora.
“This confirms that the demon Astaroth did something to Eleonora. Since the two black magics cannot overlap, the one that was applied later became incomplete.”
This was a situation that even Vivian had not expected. This was because it was an explanation that did not appear in the original work. She didn’t know what happened. She wondered why this damned imprint was engraved on her. Still, one thing has become clear.
‘If Aslan dies, I die too!’
The lifespan of the imprinted object follows that of the imprinter. Originally, she had planned to stay by Aslan’s side for a while to obtain a cure for lung disease, but it was no longer an issue at that level. This was because Aslan in the original lost the decisive battle with the crown prince.
“Oh my goodness, when will the destruction law be completed? You’re not saying it’ll take a few years, right?”
“Hmm, I don’t know.”
This person’s eyes were about to turn away from the urgency, but Jesus was so happy that he played with his chin and rolled his eyes. She couldn’t do it because it’s too obnoxious. This was the moment when Vivian decided to share the conversation with his fist.
Heavy footsteps sounded outside the hallway. Aslan was approaching.
‘Oh no, you have to wake up quickly…!’
Vivian suddenly looked across. Jesus, who had been sitting leisurely just a moment ago, was now blinking his eyes while holding a tape measure and a notebook. He must have known in advance that he was approaching through Aslan’s magic.
‘I said I made a provocation earlier… The back end is also long. Damn wizard!’
Vivian glared at him and stood up quickly. Jesus laughed lowly and wrapped his arms around her waist. A thin tape measure passes over her slip. At the same time, the door suddenly opened.
“Vivian, how are you feeling?”
Aslan, who was entering the bedroom as usual, stopped. Although it was still broad daylight, he stared at Vivian’s figure in a thin slip as if he was fascinated, and then he shifted his gaze to the man who was standing closely next to her.
She had heard that Dylan had an assistant in her wardrobe, but Aslan, who of course assumed she was a woman, had a fierce look in her eyes.
“You were coughing, I heard it.”
He approached Vivian and gently touched Vivian’s cheek. At the same time, the gaze on Jesus narrowed.
“Why are you standing so hard without resting?”
“I need detailed measurements for the dress I ordered. It’s just over.”
Vivian glanced up at Aslan. His eyes were still fixed on Jesus.
‘Why do you look at him like that? You said you handled your demonic energy without being detected. Did you notice anything?’
The damn wizard was still smiling, whether he knew what was going on or not. She pushed Jesus away, looking around as if she were looking for her robe to drape over her shoulders.
“Great job. Say hello to Madame Scarlett and you can go.”
“I’ll see you again.”
It would be an answer not as a dressmaker’s assistant, but as the archmage Jesus. Vivian nodded her head softly, and a large jacket was placed on her shoulders. Aslan took off her outer clothes and hugged her casually from behind.
“How old are you?”
“Sixteen, Your Highness.”
“Your name is…”
“This is Miguel.”
Aslan’s voice was as indifferent as it was when dealing with her subordinates. But in that case, there was no way she would have caught someone trying to leave and asked such a meaningless question. Her nervousness made her feel tight inside. Fortunately for her, she was able to answer without hesitation, as if Jesus had prepared it in advance.
“Are there not enough people in the dressing room? I can’t believe they sent a man like you to measure a lady’s measurements.”
“There are many assistants who learn from Madame Scarlett, but I am only in charge of high-ranking ladies like you.”
“Why…”
“Because ladies like beautiful and cute boys like me. It’s our dressmaker’s trade secret.”
She thought he was just throwing this out there casually, but as she listened to it, it actually made a lot of sense.
‘That’s right, if possible, it’s better to be the handsome and charming type.’
Vivian nodded her head without realizing it, and thick tendons sprouted on the back of Aslan’s hand as he saw it.
“Ah, I see.”
“If you don’t have any more questions, I’ll just leave.”
Vivian lowered her arms and flapped her palms so Aslan could not see. She quickly tried to turn it off. Luckily for her, Jesus smiled brightly at her as if he understood what she meant, then bowed and stepped back.
‘Good luck, princess.’
He muttered quietly with his mouth before closing the door.
‘What nonsense.’
Of course, the miracle of Vivian noticing the hidden meaning did not occur. Feeling relieved to be free from Aslan’s suspicions, he let out a deep sigh and sat down on the sofa.
“I guess you’re sad that Miguel is leaving.”
The gold inside that held Vivian was as sweet as honey, and the hand that wrapped around her shoulder was as soft as down. Yet, for some reason, Vivian felt a chill that she did not know why.
‘Hmm, is it because I left the window open?’
Then she remembered that she had asked the maid if she could open her window to ventilate her. Vivian forgot Aslan’s question and walked up to her balcony. She stretched out her hand to the window handle a little above her height, and through her glass window she saw Jesus leaving the mansion. He must have sensed her gaze and turned around, smiling brightly in her direction and waving his hand.
‘Why are you acting so friendly all of a sudden?’
She stopped moving and tilted her head, but a hand stretched out from behind her and grabbed the window instead.
“He even personally saw me off on the way.”
