‘Before meeting Ariette, Matthias considered intelligence as a key criterion for choosing a crown princess.’

Matthias became interested in Ariette because she was running a business.

Unlike other debutantes who dedicated their lives solely to marriage, Ariette was managing her business while also seeking a marriage partner. This made her a unique individual.

Considering this, Letticia definitely doesn’t stand a chance of fitting Matthias’ ideal type. She majored in liberal arts, was too lazy to study, had no significant insights into politics and economics, and although she invested in a business, she didn’t involve herself in its management, just reaping the benefits.

‘So, can I conclude that he won’t become obsessed with me?’

If Matthias was captivated by Ariette’s intelligence, he would be drawn to her even if he were engaged to Letticia. Unlike in the original story, she is now working as an administrator with a degree in public administration, but it is clear that she possesses more than just a basic level of intelligence.

‘But the danger in Matthias’ path isn’t just about obsession.’

Letticia had to be wary that Matthias might exile her from the capital, or worse, banish her from the country or the world, fearing that she might attract Ariette’s attention.

To avoid becoming either the victim of a possessive stalker or a true love martyr, Letticia chose her words carefully.

“… His Highness the Crown Prince is such a perfect person, I’m sure many debutantes have given their hearts to him. However, I never got to talk to His Highness during our minuet, so I can’t imagine he would have thought highly of me.”

“Don’t worry about that. My brother never talks while dancing. But didn’t you talk when he escorted you? It seemed like it.”

Letticia felt uneasy about whether she should tell Eustace, who had attended with them that day, what he had said.

Saying that Letticia became a diamond because she was Camilla’s daughter would require explaining the related background, which would mean discussing former Empress Emilia.

It was not a pleasant topic to bring up in front of royalty.

‘No matter how favorably they view me, it’s dangerous.’

In the end, Letticia decided to persuade them in another way.

If she appeared even slightly interested in forming a relationship with Matthias, the Empress Liliana might hear of it and the royal family might attempt to pair them together.

So, she had no choice but to blame Matthias and explain Letticia’s situation to avert the crisis.

“He did speak, but it was all formal. To be honest, I even thought it might be better to give up on the Crown Prince at that time.”

Technically, she gave up on him as a person, so it wasn’t a lie.

“As you know, our Sharon family must marry for love, not just for formality, and we must live together for a lifetime with the chosen partner. So, we must seriously consider our marriage and, if necessary, break up and find someone else.”

This wasn’t a lie either. Even if by a dramatic chance she ended up with Matthias, if she didn’t want to marry him, she planned to flee abroad to break up.

“So, I’d like to meet people who like me rather than those who don’t. It might not be impossible to make something out of nothing, but I don’t want to burden His Highness and act like other debutantes.”

She concluded by pretending to care about Matthias.

Letticia felt confident she had delivered her best possible speech.

Fortunately, Judith seemed touched and Eustace was nodding.

“Letticia… You’re so thoughtful! You’re really different from those who only push their feelings.”

“Indeed, forcing one’s feelings and then asking why they aren’t reciprocated is too one-sided. My brother might not be ready yet.”

Letticia smiled, thinking she had succeeded. But it wasn’t enough.

“So, it’s best to wait until my brother is ready.”

“What?”

She thought she had persuaded them, but she hadn’t.

“My brother thinks marriage is essential, so he’ll probably choose a spouse by the end of the year. When he does, Letticia can approach and propose a contract marriage.”

There was a true romance fanatic.

While Letticia felt dizzy from Judith’s talk of contract marriage, Eustace shook his head in disagreement.

“Even if you propose a contract marriage, feelings don’t just follow. It’s better to mediate and start as friends, hoping for further development.”

“What?”

“Matthias wouldn’t have a female friend! If he does, people will speculate she’ll become the Crown Princess, and he’d rather not have a friend than deal with that.”

“But suddenly saying ‘we’re in love’ wouldn’t be believable either. It might take months, and if he’s indifferent to Letticia and then suddenly makes her Crown Princess, people will suspect secret dating.”

“You can quell rumors by showing affection publicly, like renting out an entire boutique.”

Both had a rich imagination, fueled by their love of romance novels. Even Letticia, well-versed in romance clichés thanks to her knowledge from the original story and her past life, was astounded.

“Above all, if you go for a contract marriage, you should include a condition that Letticia will not love him. Someone like him, our brother, tends to be more interested in people who aren’t interested in them.”

“Oh, that might actually be better. Start that way and then later claim there was no contract while trying to hold on to her!”

“May I ask you one thing?”

During a brief pause in the conversation, Letticia quickly intervened to take control.

She couldn’t bear to hear any more of their matchmaking fantasies about her and Matthias.

“May I ask why you are so intent on pairing me with His Highness the Crown Prince?”

It made sense for Dayna to do so out of friendship and the desire to elevate the status of a rising noble family, benefiting both her family and herself.

However, she couldn’t understand why Eustace and Judith were doing this.

“There are other debutantes nicknamed diamonds by Lucinella, like Lady Eskis. Why are you so keen on pairing me with His Highness?”

Because it concerned her future, Letticia felt she had to ask, even if it seemed rude.

Understanding her urgency, the siblings calmed down and prepared to answer her question.

Eustace spoke first.

“Well, Letticia, as you know, unless we’re as lucky as our parents, love marriages are almost impossible for royals. Even though Judith and I talk about romance novels, we wouldn’t be allowed to marry completely out of political considerations.”

Suddenly faced with reality, Letticia tensed. Though love marriages were becoming more common among nobles, it was still too much to expect from royals due to their significant responsibilities. The siblings seemed aware of this too.

“That’s why the only chance we have to encounter love is through romance novels. But even if it’s not about our marriage, there are those of you who truly need to marry for love.”

Letticia could sense where Eustace was going with this.

‘So, you want to vicariously satisfy yourself through my marriage.’

Some friends were like that. Knowing they had to marry someone chosen by their families, they wanted to see Letticia marry for love and happiness.

“And if you became the Crown Princess, that would be even better. It’s every girl’s dream, isn’t it? A romance with a handsome prince! It’s in romance novels and even fairy tales!”

When Judith chimed in, Eustace nodded in agreement. This siblings who pursue romance—it would be truly beautiful if Letticia weren’t the main character in that story.

“In that case, how about Eustace marrying Lenny? It wouldn’t be a Crown Prince, but still a handsome prince, a love between childhood friends, which many people dream of. They’re only a year apart in age; it’s perfect!”

Letticia quickly offered up her younger sister, partly as revenge for exposing her embarrassing moments.

“…If I propose to Lenny in the future, I’ll consider it as Letticia’s approval.”

“Hmm… That’s not a bad idea, but it doesn’t have the same impact as the Crown Prince and a diamond.”

Eustace replied with a subtle expression, and Judith seemed not entirely opposed but not completely satisfied either.

It seemed her plan to offer her sister had failed.

GIRL! 😅🤣 Just because your little sister shared some (slightly) embarrassing childhood stories of yours with her close friends doesn’t mean you can offer her in marriage as revenge! Even if it’s with a good guy.
But now I’m wondering how Leona (?)/Lenny feels about Eustace 🤔 he didn’t seem disgusted, off put, shocked or completely against the idea of marrying her… 🧐😏 I do love a childhood friends to lovers story 🥰
