“We conducted an investigation along with substantial evidence provided with the accusation, and upon finding wrongdoing, we decided to publicize it and take action.”
“Where did the evidence come from? Is there a possibility of forgery?”
“Some of the evidence was generated early on and has been cross-verified to be factual. The accuser is separate from the individual who submitted the evidence, and both wished to remain anonymous, so I won’t disclose their identities here.”
While it was not revealed who made such accusations, students who had suffered because of Ralph praised Matthias’s decision and expressed gratitude to the anonymous accuser and evidence gatherer.
And that accuser, along with their sister, was listening to the progress so far from their parents.

“We’ve received apology letters and compensation from Baron Hillmarin and Viscount Kairon. It’s said that Hillmarin offered his estate, while Kairon offered both his estate and title.”
“Seems like Hillmarin had a bit more leeway.”
“More like defiance. He probably thinks having a title will somehow help him recover.”
After calmly analyzing their situation, Patrick informed them about further proceedings.
“And Ralph Barthset has decided to withdraw from the academy. With this, the position of the Prince’s Chief Advisor is now out of reach.”
“Did the Barthset Duke’s agree to this willingly?”
“With His Highness himself intervening, there wasn’t much that could be done. Besides, considering the magnitude of what our son had done…”
“His Highness intervened? Wait, what did you do, Big brother?”
Startled, Letticia looked at her brother. Lenard replied casually.
“When Princess Judith came to meet Lenny, His Highness asked her to deliver some documents. I wrote a petition along with personal letters and evidence, and thankfully, she acted on it.”
“Princess Judith?!”
Letticia exclaimed in disbelief. Of all people, why it must be Judith.
‘Judith, the only family Matthias genuinely cares about!’
In the original work, Matthias wasn’t particularly close to his family. He harbored uncomfortable feelings toward Emperor Philip due to maternal issues, felt awkwardness toward Empress Lilliana as she wasn’t his birth mother, and maintained a guarded attitude toward Prince Eustace as the second heir.
Consequently, Judith was the only person Matthias sincerely considered family and even hoped to introduce to Ariette and maintain a close relationship with.
Moreover, there were stories about him driving away a certain nobleman from the capital through Judith’s intervention.
“Why did you have to convey it through princess Judith? She’s only ten years old!”
“I apologized for having to resort to such means. I assured it won’t happen again in the future.”
“Still! You could have conveyed it through Her Majesty the Empress!”
“Do you really think Her Majesty the Empress and His Highness are so close that they exchange matters without any formality?”
Letticia sighed at Lenard’s remark. It was a question with no clear answer—whether it would be less awkward to go through the mother with complicated feelings or the cute younger sister.
“Letty, I understand what you’re worried about, but it’ll be okay.”
Patrick explained the situation to reassure Letticia.
“Given His Majesty personally intervened to investigate the matter and expose the corruption, I doubt he holds any fondness for that scoundrel’s son. He probably saw it as an opportunity and welcomed it.”
“Well… that could be true.”
Romance fantasy protagonists really despise incompetent and despicable characters. Ralph Barthset fits that description perfectly.
“So, what happened to that blasted scoundrel? Was he kicked out of his house?”
“…He’s going to be erased from the family registry. And the property that was originally intended to be inherited by the youngest son will be used to compensate the victims. His Highness suggested that part.”
Not only did he plummet from a nobleman’s son to a commoner overnight, but he also lost his inheritance. It’s somewhat bittersweet to see proper retribution, but it was only possible because of Matthias’s intervention.
“So, they want to give you a building owned by the Clermont Street estate as part of the compensation. What do you think?”
“Clermont Street?”
Clermont Street was the capital’s busiest thoroughfare, packed with all sorts of shops. It housed famous boutiques, jewelers, and department stores, including the flagship Sharon Jewelry store.
Offering a building there indicated the seriousness of the compensation from the aristocratic family.
“The location is quite decent even for Clermont. They’re in the midst of buying an old building for redevelopment. Once it’s completed, they’ll transfer ownership to you.”
“Being compensated for the insult and defamation and getting a building in Clermont as part of it… that’s quite a hefty price.”
“Of course. The fact that they targeted me jeopardizes the next 20 years of our Sharon Count’s reputation, so they should be prepared for that.”
When Letticia spoke in a petulant tone, Lenard responded seriously. Patrick sighed at their exchange and then reprimanded Lenard.
“Ren, in moments like this, stick to discussing what actually happened. Misunderstandings can easily arise.”
“Really? What’s the harm if big brother acts like that for a day or two?”
“Even so. It’s fine to pressure the other party directly, but it’s better not to mention material aspects in front of others. It might sound like we’re deliberately seeking compensation and provoking insults.”
“Yes, Father. I’ll keep that in mind.”
Despite Lenard nodding, Patrick still seemed uneasy. To change the mood, Camilla brought up a different topic.
“We received compensation from the Averil Duke as well. They sent the promised Elrey Freesia and an introduction for a direct deal with the Briar Marquess.”
“An introduction?”
“Yes. It’s to allow us to purchase Eflor tea leaves.”
With compensation beyond expectations, Letticia looked at the Duke differently. Offering an Elrey Freesia and Eflor purchase rights was a significant apology.
“They really managed to secure quite a lot. Now, everyone will know I’m the victim.”
“They’ll know it very well. Take a look at this.”
Taking the single-page newspaper offered by Camilla, Letticia was surprised to see it was the well-known social weekly, ‘Lady Lucinella.’
‘This is the newspaper where Ariette’s debut was covered in the original… Wait, what’s this?’
Moreover, the content was even more surprising.
“<Will Ruby’s Daughter Become a Diamond?>”
“Wow, what an amazing title. Let me see it too.”
Perplexed by the bizarre title, Letticia was at a loss, but Lenard, intrigued, took the newspaper and kindly read it aloud.
“It is a well-known fact that Lady Letticia Sharon, the daughter of the ‘Ruby’ Camilla Sharon, Countess of the social circles, has enrolled in the Liberal Arts Department. But how many people truly know about the unfair treatment she recently experienced?”
“There wasn’t enough gossip, huh? And why this is in a whole front page!”
“This incident is the biggest talk in the social circles right now. The victim is our Sharon Count, and the perpetrators are none other than Duke Averil and Duke Barthset. Not to mention that there were also two minor noble families involved.”
“Are they really putting the story of a someone in the liberal arts department who hasn’t even debuted on the front page? And they filled a whole page with just my story?”
“Exactly. Your club activities and your attitude in class at the Liberal Arts Department are all included. Even descriptions of your appearance?”
Reading the article, Lenard laughed as if he were going to die, occasionally commenting on the content.
“Impeccable etiquette and a fairy-like… Oh, this is really cringeworthy. Anyway, Lady Sharon, with her excellent equestrian skills and leadership, possesses the characteristic pink hair of the Sharon Count and skin as pearly as… and resembles her mother, the Countess, in beauty… Ha, what’s with praising a 13-year-old’s beauty like this?”
“Oh, big brother! Stop reading!”
Irritated, Letticia tried to snatch the newspaper from Lenard’s hands, but he quickly stood up and dodged, lifting his sister up slightly. Is he a brother or an enemy?
“Haha, but they’re quite friendly towards you, aren’t they? They looking forward to your promising future, haha!”
“Give it to me!”
“Because your future is like an anticipated diamond in the rough, You’re already facing scrutiny because of it. Haha.”
Laughing almost breathlessly as he went along, Lenard steadfastly summarized the contents of the article.
Feeling like she was going to suffocate from embarrassment, Letticia finally snatched the newspaper from Lenard’s hands and rolled it up, hitting her brother with it.
“I told you to stop reading! Why do you keep torturing me by reading it over and over again!”
“Haha, Mother, please just get me one more of these. It’ll be perfect for me when I’m bored.”
“Read it one more time, and I’ll burn it all!”
Letticia, frustrated with the single-page newspaper that didn’t do much damage when thrown, now clenched her fist. As the sibling rivalry heated up, Patrick sighed and addressed Camilla.
“Thanks to your groundwork, Letty’s reputation has been well restored. It’s even better than expected.”
“It seems like they’ve gone to the academy to gather information. Thanks to Letty’s good grades and active participation in club activities, the article turned out well.”
“Mother, did Lady Lucinella deliberately go around talking about me to people to get that article?”
Finally calming down after hitting her brother, Letticia asked. Camilla smiled as she replied.
“The best way to sway public opinion is through the media. And you shouldn’t just be a victim. Being a victim is one thing, but it’s much better to be seen as a victim who was restrained not because you were weak or lacking, but because you were too exceptional.”
“Ah, because I shouldn’t appear too easy to handle?”
Letticia admired her mother’s skill. To think she could salvage her daughter’s reputation, which was almost in tatters, like this. Indeed, celebrities ruling the social circles were in a league of their own.
“Exactly. And now that you’re known as the diamond, you’ll have a significant advantage among your peers. Especially since Lady Averil is also facing disciplinary action.”
Fortunately, a few days ago, Ariette applied for a transfer to the Department of Public Administration.
Of course, they might still run into each other in the dorms, but at least there won’t be any clashes within the department.
‘For a quick fix, please, let there be no trouble until graduation…’
Letticia prayed for a peaceful future, even to a deity she didn’t really believe in.
Fortunately, whether it was thanks to this prayer or not, until she graduated from the academy, Letticia had no involvement with Ariette or the duke Averil people’s whatsoever.
