“Mother, Father!”
On the day of the hearing, Letticia appeared in front of the main building with Lenard, who had decided to appear as a witness, and ran to see her parents with joy.
Seeing her parents, it seemed like all the pent-up frustration and troubles she had endured while confined in her room were about to explode.
“Letty, we’ve heard everything. It must have been tough all this time.”
“Don’t worry now. We’re here.”
“Ugh, Mom, I really didn’t do anything, but everyone keeps saying I harassed Lady Averil.”
When Camilla lovingly embraced her, Letticia expressed her grievances, a mix of calculation and sincerity.
Some students rushing to class noticed her and whispered in hushed voices.
“Look at that. How disgusting…”
“Playing the victim right after her parents arrive, not even funny.”
“Well, she allegedly slapped Lady Averil’s cheek and harassed her. Not surprising she’s shameless.”
“But is it true that Lady Sharon did that? She didn’t seem like such a bad person.”
“I heard that from the first day of admission, she seduced a senior in the Department of Public Administration and hurled harsh words at students in the Department of Liberal Arts. In the end, she can’t hide her true nature.”
After a few days, the rumor grew stronger and even added random words that came from no one knows where they came from, turning Letticia into the ultimate villainess.
She wanted to go after them right away and tear the mouth that spread that rumor to pieces, but Camilla shook her head and patted her on the shoulder.
“Ignore them, Letty. You don’t have to deal with every single one of those things.”
“Mother…!”
“When the truth about you is revealed, those people who mock you with their words like that, will start talking nonsense and say that they actually trusted you, as if it has never been done before. In reality, they won’t say a word to you directly but will whisper cowardly behind your back among themselves.”
The sharpness of Camilla’s words was effective regardless of the volume of her voice.
The students who were secretly listening while gossiping began to flinch and leave even though Camilla did not even look in that direction.
Upon seeing that, Leticia’s boiling anger calmed down a little.
‘Alright, let’s deal with those spreading these rumors, starting with Achilles’
There was no need to waste time on those who refused to listen. What awaited Letticia were not these petty individuals but rather, the trio of doting fools who wouldn’t mind bringing down an empire or two for Ariette’s sake.
***
In the principal’s office where the inquiry was set to take place, there were several professors, including the headmaster, Letticia’s homeroom teacher, and individuals associated with Duke Averil.
Precisely, it was the presumed Duke—a remarkably handsome, young man with an icy demeanor, who could hardly be believed to have three children—and Alexander and Achilles, whom Letticia had encountered on her first day.
“….are Lady Ariette Avril currently absent?”
When Patrick, scanning the opposite side with his eyes, asked, the Duke responded coolly.
“She’s resting in her dormitory. I have no intention of exposing my daughter to her assailant.”
As he spoke, the Duke cast a gaze full of vitality towards Letticia.
Faced with the threatening eyes she had never seen before, Letticia momentarily shrank but, fueled by a sense of injustice, stood tall and locked eyes with the Duke.
“……..”
“……..”
Letticia’s response caused a slight raise of the Duke’s eyebrow.
There was a hint of surprise at the unexpected reaction, but his demeanor didn’t shift to one of warmth.
Trying to ease the tension, the headmaster cautiously spoke up.
“Duke, I apologize, but it’s a principle that all parties involved must attend the inquiry. We cannot grant special privileges to Lady Ariette Averil.”
“My daughter was shocked to the point of swollen eyes from crying. How dare you drag such a child to a place like this?”
‘Then why the hell did I come to this place, you lunatic.’
At the absurd response, Letticia shot daggers with her eyes.
Camilla seemed equally incredulous, chuckling ironically as she retorted to the Duke.
“If we’re going to argue about it, my daughter was grabbed by the shoulders and threatened by a sturdy knight from the Knights Department, yet she’s bravely facing him here. What’s the purpose of this inquiry? What audacity to play the victim? While role reversals between victims and perpetrators occasionally happen, I never expected such a thing from the noble Duke.”
“I have no intention of denying what my son did. But what you said was only a superficial reason. You won’t pretend not to know what the essence of this incident is, right?”
Neither the Duke nor Camilla showed any sign of backing down.
In the original work, the gaze of the Duke, who was described as cold-blooded and as if not a single drop of blood would come out even if pricked with a needle, had a cruel gaze, but Camilla, who has reigned as the queen of society ever since her debut, was also formidable.
In the midst of their mutual tension, with the headmaster flustered, Patrick, who had been silently observing, spoke up quietly.
“This is about the punishment of duke Averil’s son action, who entered the liberal arts classroom, where male students were originally prohibited, and insulted and assaulted my daughter in front of the other students in the classroom. And because of that action, my daughter is suffering. It is also an opportunity to determine the truth of unfair rumors.”
“Unfair rumors you said, it seems you’re determined to claim that.”
“The formal arguments will begin after Lady Ariette Averil’s attendance.”
“As I mentioned before, my daughter will not attend.”
“Then we have no choice. I don’t want to make a big deal out of it, but we need to start preparing for a formal trial.”
Patrick’s words surprised everyone in the room except for Countess Sharon.
In noble society, formal trials are almost unheard of unless it involves serious matters. Especially when it comes to issues among children, such situations are even rarer.
“Co, Count, a formal trial, what in the world…”
When the headmaster asked with a trembling voice, Patrick calmly replied.
“If the Duke insists on not allowing his daughter to attend, we have no other recourse. It’s not only about my daughter’s honor but also concerns her future. In a formal trial, we can properly ascertain the truth.”
“Are you daring to suggest that I’d expose my daughter to her alleged assailant? How dare you!”
“The claim of her being the assailant is from the Duke’s side. Lady Averil herself has asserted my daughter’s innocence. Therefore, it’s only natural that we request the summons of this valuable witness.”
Despite the Duke raising his voice and slamming the table with his fist, Patrick remained unshaken.
Despite the enthusiasm of that light rofan-style doting father, today his unwavering demeanor seemed remarkably sturdy.
“The imperial trial, unlike an inquiry, requires mandatory attendance, and it will likely take at least a few months until a verdict is reached. During that period, your daughter have to live continuously entangled in this matter. I assume that is not what duke’s would desire.”
It was an ultimatum: and for Duke Averil, there was only one choice. There is no way he would want his precious Ariette to suffer any more than this.
After a few seconds of tense silence, the Duke eventually relented.
“…Allow Arie to attend.”
‘Wait, who does he think he is, making it sound like such a dignified permission?’
Attendance is a duty, not a right. It was absurd that he was acting as if he was giving permission to a subject who was making a fuss about not following their obligations.
However, it seemed that only the Count of Sharon family members thought that way, but the other staff seemed relieved at the permission that was finally granted.
As one of the assistants hurried to escort Ariette out, the headmaster sighed and cautiously addressed the Duke and the Count.
“Well, then, let’s begin by discussing the issue between Achilles Averil and Letticia Sharon. Achilles acknowledges grabbing and shaking count Sharon’s daughter’s shoulders, and also entering the liberal arts classroom. Disciplinary action will be taken for those actions.”
“Let’s move past that then. It’s more important to punish those who spread baseless rumors about my daughter.”
Camilla spoke firmly, prompting the Duke to raise his voice.
“Baseless rumors? My daughter was made to cry by your daughter’s harassment. Are you claiming that’s baseless gossip?”
“So, Duke, are you asserting that it did happen?”
“I received a report from the maids who were present with Arie and your daughter. She couldn’t hear their exact words because she told to the maids to stay away, but they said she said something pointing out Arie’s mistake. Not only that, but even mention my wife”
“Wait, what in the…”
The Duke’s words surprised Letticia, and she couldn’t help but find them almost fabricated.
“Moreover, according to Achilles, he received that report from the maids during lunchtime, and around the end of afternoon classes, he heard rumors circulating in the liberal arts department from a student in the same department. Hearing twice in one day that Sharon Lady harassed Arie, wouldn’t it be natural to believe it’s true?”
Alexander, though still polite, interjected with a slightly pointed tone. Gone was the mask-like smile Letticia noticed on the first day.
“A student from the same department as Akil heard that? Who is the student providing this testimony?”
“Jacqueline Harper, a student from the Knights Department. She heard the story while having a meal at the north cafeteria and passed it on to Achilles.”
“A Knights student in the north cafeteria? That area should be on the opposite side of the Knights building.”

Can’t this duke have just a little of dignity 🥶🥶🥶
Impossible. He doesn’t even have some basic manners and humanity. Dignity is too high an ask.
Thanks a lot for the chapters!
Anxiously waiting for what is going to happen in the next update, but with fingers crossed for this annoying trio of gaslighters to get their just deserves!
Okay this is the last chapter update for this week, see you on the next update guys! 💕🐌
Thank you so much for the update!
Thanks for reading this! 💕💕
Thank you for telling us 🥰🙏🏻 I’ll be awaiting for next week.
Hm 🤔🤔🧐🧐
I can’t wait to know what happens nextttt hahahaha
Thanks for the updates 💓
Will Arriette finally have the freakin floor please? How much longer will they behave so obsessively, to the point that they have exceeded “being protective” to being “obstructive and toxic” and how do they not see it.dumb family
its been a while, when is the next chapter coming out unless you dropped this?
Hellooo, it’s not droped it will be update in a few dayss
I’m anxiously awaiting for how this story will unfold. I wonder if in this trial they will actually go after the main culprits of the spread of gossips and if one of them will be that guy from the beginning who was antagonising Letticia and her future boyfriend… if so it would be nice to see our guy testifying against him or informing her brother of the gossip situation and therefore getting a chance to interact a little more with Letty. 🫣😏
I also think it’s unfair that those who spread rumours will be expelled from school, but the MAN who is studying CHILVARY/knighthood, who entered a building of mainly females and without authorisation, with complete disregard to rules, other students, his own sister and even teacher and, to top it all, who pushed a young girl much smaller than himself and defencelles IS NOT GETTING EXPELLED! 🤯😫🤬🤦🏻♀️
You will find out in the latest chapter update later, I apologize for not being able to upload the chapter as soon as possible, it took longer than I thought because I had to edit the raw korean text first so that the text would not be messy. I really appreciate your enthusiasm or curiosity every time you read this story, it also encourages me to upload more chapters in the future, thank you! 💕💕💕
