Albert Averil, the Duke of Averil.

He was a cold man that anyone could not be expected to be the person who ruled Elrey, which was said to be the most prosperous and warmest place in the empire.

In his youth, he was more popular than the crown prince in the capital’s social circles due to his sculptural appearance and with one of the best backgrounds in the empire, but the fact that no one could approach him due to his iron wall became a legend among the noble ladies of the empire.

After the duchess, who was the only one who freely exchanged affection with the duke, died, he was left alone and frozen as cold as winter, and the sunlight that melted him again was his youngest daughter, Ariette.

When his beloved daughter Ariette said that she would go to the capital academy instead of the eastern part, the duke spent a huge amount of money to purchase as many as three video communication spheres, a newly developed magic tool for communication at the Magic Tower.

Of course, one was sent to Ariette, and the Duke had one too, and he send the last one to Achilles, just in case theres some emergency.

Since it was invented not long ago, purchasing a video communication device cost the price of a nobleman’s villa, but it was not a waste of money to ensure the safety of his beloved youngest daughter and to endure the pain of not being able to see her face.

It seems something like that didn’t matter at all even if the Phileas Academy was only an hour away from the ducal residence in the capital. For the Averil duke, spending money on Ariette is as natural as breathing.

But now, the duke was looking into the communication port with the same cold face he usually gave to other people, not the indulgent expression he used to make to his daughter.

The reason being that the person speaking on the other end was not Ariette but his second son, Achilles.

“…Tell me once again. What happened?”

– So, Arie cried! Because of that Shyaon, the daughter of the damn Count!

At his son’s words, the Duke abruptly snapped the pen he was holding.

A sudden call on the communication device, and whatever he feared most had become a reality.

The one who tormented the angel who resembled his deceased wife so much, finally ending the bitterly cold winter for this Duke, was none other than the daughter of that Count.

For the Duke, it was an act more unforgivable than betrayal.

When Ariette mentioned going to the capital, it was precisely what he worried about and feared the most. He was well aware of how hypocritical and treacherous the women of the capital’s social circles could be.

‘So, that’s why I didn’t want to send her.’

His wife was severely ostracized in the capital’s social circles before marrying him because she was the daughter of a baronet rather than a nobleman.

Upon the announcement of their engagement, she became the target of ridicule and disdain, enduring mockery and contempt until her engagement with him was announced.

Because he didn’t like that, he held their wedding in the East, and kicked out all parents and family members who despised her from the estate. They planned to leave the capital and live quietly in their domain. But she died.

Meanwhile, Ariette mentioned that she wanted to go to the capital. As it was, it would have been impossible to send his beloved daughter to a place where those who had tormented his family so terribly were laughing loudly.

However, the Duke had no choice but to send her.

It was also because of an incident during his foolish years when he neglected his daughter, and Ariette became fearful of being alone with a governess.

Therefore, to educate his daughter, who wanted to acquire proper etiquette as the Duke’s beloved, he had no choice but to resort to the academy in the capital. If he couldn’t hire a governess, the academy in the capital was the best choice in terms of the quality of education.

Just in case, to preemptively suppress the influence of other nobles, and for Ariette’s convenience, he built a new building and sent maids along. He wanted to demonstrate how much he cherished Ariette.

However, there were always those who were foolish and unable to understand the situation.

“Achilles, what on earth have you been doing?”

Alexander, the eldest son, who had been listening to the communication nearby, wiped away the mask-like smile and revealed his usual cold expression.

For him, who prided himself on supporting his father’s love for Ariette, anyone who tormented his sister was nothing more than trash undeserving of existence.

“Why did such a thing happen when you were supposed to protect Arie? You were all talk about protecting her, yet you were just all bark and no bite.”

– It’s not like that! When that woman was invited to Arie’s room yesterday, it seems she said something severe. Marsha reported it!

Marsha served as Ariette’s personal maid, and her loyalty to Ariette was almost as significant as the Duke’s three children.

Even the three children couldn’t treat her lightly, as she had been caring for Ariette since the time she was neglected by her family.

Trusting Marsha’s report, Alexander could rely on its accuracy.

“She said something severe after being invited? What did she say?”

– Arie said she was going to make the tea, so she didn’t hear it properly because she made Masha step away, but I think she said something while pointing out etiquette. Plus, I heard that she talk a little bit about mother.

The Duke’s anger exploded at his words. How dare she utter Violet’s name.

“Say that vile woman’s name again. Who said that?”

– Sha, something like that, a woman with deep pink hair! Why? We rode the elevator together on our first day of school!

“…. Lady Sharon, huh. I warned her just in case something like this happened, were she too foolish to understand.”

Alexander’s recollection made the Duke’s expression more fierce.

“Sharon you said? Is that a count’s family who’s Camilla Wade get married? ”

“Yes. Famous for the marriage of the century, they run a jewelry business. As a notable fact, they have a connection with the Empress-”

“Enough. I know what kind of family they are.”

Interrupting Alexander’s explanation with a gesture, the Duke couldn’t contain his anger and slammed the desk.

Camilla Wade, not a pleasant person.

“Camilla Wade, no, is it now Camilla Sharon.”

“Is there a problem?”

Alexander frowned and asked. It was rare for his usually composed father to express such annoyance, excluding Ariette.

“She’s a cunning woman in the social circles. If she moves, public opinion in the capital will sway against us, which is already disadvantageous for us.”

– Why does that matter? The important thing is that Arie cried!

As Achilles shouted through the communication, Alexander gave a sarcastic remark as if he found it pathetic.

“Do you even understand how important public opinion is? If mishandled, it could be distorted to make it look like they did nothing wrong, and Arie cried alone. How will you make them pay for causing Arie to cry? Are you going to go there and threaten or even resort to violence?”

– Ah… I did grab and shake her shoulders a bit.

“You should have said that from the beginning, you idiot!”

Alexander shouted at his brother’s belated confession.

“Tell me exactly what happened from the beginning.”

– Oh, okay. So, that-

Achilles explained the situation before and after in some detail.

When he reached the part about infiltrating the Liberal Arts building and confronting Letticia, Alexander was overwhelmed by his brother’s recklessness.

“I’ve suspected your brain might be inside your head for a while, but I never thought you’d be this much of an idiot.”

– What? What did I do?

“Not only did you brazenly enter the Liberal Arts building, but you also grabbed the shoulder of a Liberal Arts student and shook her? You’ve handed them all the justification they need. Thanks to you, the perpetrator who tormented Arie now has an opportunity to demand an apology.”

– I didn’t shake her that hard! Moreover, that woman hit my arm with a thick hardcover book! Do you know how much it hurt?

“That doesn’t matter. They’ll claim it was self-defense, and in fact it is. A liberal arts student was grabbed by the shoulder by a student from the knights department. So, would she just stay still? Even if they said they kicked you in your vitals, you wouldn’t have anything to say. ”

– Uh, I know. I messed up, but I can never forgive her for making Arie cry!

“Enough, both of you.”

The Duke, as if expressing his weariness with his two sons’ bickering, spoke in a cold tone and asked the silent duo.

“So, a hearing is scheduled?”

– Yes. For now, it’s established that I’m the perpetrator and that woman is the victim.

“Good. Now that the stage is set, all you have to do is counterattack.”

The Duke, with a chilling smile, tapped his desk with his fingers and asked harshly.

At those words, the butler, who had retreated to a corner of the room, sensed the fate of the girl who was the victim. If it ends up for her being driven out of the capital, it will be at least moderate way for her.

“If Camilla Sharon knows about this, she will tighten the control from Arie’s mouth. What we need to deal with is not just a Liberal Arts student but the queen of society. No, perhaps this incident itself could be a trick by that woman.”

“Did they try to kick Arie out of the liberal arts department? Among her current classmates is the daughter of Count Wallace, the leader of the knights. There are at most two diamond seats for a Lady, so he may have wanted to eliminate at least one competitor.”

The Duke nodded in agreement with Alexander’s speculation.

“If she wanted to pass on the position of the queen of society to her daughter, she would have had to start manipulating public opinion from now on. Even so, how dare her, for try to mess with Arie in such a shallow way.”

“The Countess is still a countess, but the Count Sharon family itself is also a difficult opponent. Considering their relationship with the Empress, the imperial family will side with the Count Sharon family unless something serious happens.”

“Probably. So, the most important thing is to prevent the Imperial Family from siding with them. But for now…”

While the current Imperial Family is the most powerful in history, the Averil Ducal Family is one of the most prestigious aristocratic families in the Empire.

Even if the opposing family is one favored by the Empress, there are plenty of ways to prevent Imperial interference.

“While pruning, we must remove the rotten roots as well.”

There shouldn’t be any obstacles on Ariette’s path.

Whether it’s a rock, a small twig, a weed that hasn’t been pulled out yet, or anything else.

For real! It’s ridiculous! Unbelievable 😵‍💫 I pity Ariette and her deceased mother… I mean, sure, having a loving and overly zealous husband and father IS INDEED better than having an abusive or absent one, but it’s still too much! They literally cause them more troubles and inconveniences than any good! 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

And the whole time, they never thought to speak to Arriette on what actually happened? This is so frustratingly dumb. This has the same concept as with “I will divorce the FL’s siscon brother”. And boy, do I want to pull all pubic hair from these obsessed family

  7. Dollbaby says:
