Marry Me, Teacher

MMT Chapter 00

Prologue

“I wish I could be Kang Tae-joo for just one day,” someone muttered enviously.

“Me too. How does it feel to get richer just by breathing?”

All the men seated in the private VIP room turned their gazes toward the head seat. Their eyes were filled with longing and envy.

“Do you think you could handle it if you were him?”

Tae Joo chuckled mockingly, resting one arm on the back of the sofa as he finished his drink. His arrogance didn’t offend anyone; it was a fact of life they all accepted.

Kang Tae-joo was the direct grandson of the chairman of AK Group, one of the top three conglomerates in the country. The inheritance he was rumored to receive was a staggering 5 trillion won. Yet, instead of contributing to the family business or showing up at the company, he lived as a carefree playboy at the top of the social hierarchy.

“Not just wealth—women flock to him too,” someone joked, trying to lighten the air thick with tension.

The room filled with laughter and chatter as they tried to make a connection with Tae Joo, who rarely attended gatherings like this. His sudden return to Korea was seen as a golden opportunity.

“Did you hear the rumors? Wasn’t it a Victory Asia model last time?”

“I heard it was a lawyer,” someone else chimed in.

Nobody knew the truth, but everyone added to the conversation, trying to impress.

“Maybe he’s dating all of them?”

“Wow, Tae Joo’s got some stamina, huh?”

Crude jokes flew back and forth, but Tae joo remained indifferent. He simply refilled his glass and drained it in silence.

Easy life, they say. If only they knew how messy and frustrating his life was right now.

[Tae joo, get married.]

That was the bombshell his grandfather had dropped a few months ago.

Who could have imagined? Kang Tae joo, of all people, almost got roped into marriage—with a girl barely out of her teens, just 20 years old.

If not for that, he wouldn’t even be here, drowning himself in alcohol.

Just as he reached for another drink, the door to the room creaked open.

“Who’s got such terrible taste?” Someone snickered as they walked in, looking around at the group.

“What are you talking about?”

“There’s a girl standing outside like a bodyguard. In a school uniform, no less.”

“…A school uniform?”

Tae joo froze mid-pour. His thick eyebrows furrowed slightly. An image of a familiar innocent face flashed through his mind as his gaze drifted to his watch.

No way. She couldn’t have followed him all the way here.

“Wait, I remember now. That’s Yoon Seol! The former child actress. How did I not recognize her?”

The moment Park Chulmin, the entertainment mogul, mentioned her name loudly, the veins on the back of Tae joo’s hand became prominent.

“Wow, she’s stunning in person. Even better than on screen. Should we invite her in?”

Clang. The sound of glass slamming down echoed sharply, and everyone froze as Tae joo stormed out of the room, his cold demeanor leaving them speechless.

“Ah, you’re out early,” a soft yet firm voice greeted him as Tae joo slammed the door shut.

He turned slowly, his dark eyes locking onto the source of the voice.

There she was—Yoon Seol, dressed neatly in a school uniform. Her delicate features were framed by a few loose strands of hair, her long, silky locks untouched by dye or perm. Her bare face was flawless, her features perfectly balanced.

The bow on her uniform seemed oversized on her petite figure. Her pale, slender legs peeked out from beneath the knee-length skirt, almost glowing white.

Tae joo could picture the lecherous stares she must have drawn from the men inside. He briefly considered going back to gouge out someone’s eyes but instead pressed his fingers to his temples.

“What are you doing here, wandering around like you own the place? You’re just a kid.”

Her clear brown eyes looked up at him steadily.

“Am I bothering you?”

“What do you think?”

“Well, you didn’t answer my calls. I had to come find you.”

“How did you even know I was here?”

“…No comment,” she replied, a hint of mischief in her voice.

Tae joo sighed, rubbing his forehead. Calm down. Find your inner peace.

“Good little kids should be at home by now, getting ready for bed. Go home.”

“I’m not a kid. I’m an adult. I turned 20 a month and eight days ago.”

“Oh, wow. Congratulations, Miss Grown-Up. Must feel amazing to be so old.”

Her calm expression didn’t waver, and she even leaned closer, sniffing lightly.

“You’ve been drinking a lot, haven’t you? It’s bad for your health.”

She sounded like a nagging wife, even scrunching her nose in disapproval.

“Go home. I’m not in the mood to deal with you right now.”

“I’ll leave when you do,” she said firmly, glancing at the closed door before meeting his eyes again.

Unbelievable. She had no idea she was the reason he was stuck here in the first place.

“How long do you plan on following me around?”

“Until you agree to marry me.”

“Don’t you have anything better to do?”

“Nothing’s more important than marrying you.”

Tae joo groaned, looking up at the ceiling before taking a step closer to her.

“So, you’re really set on this… marrying me?”

“Yes.”

Her small face nodded with unwavering determination.

Before she knew it, her back hit the wall, and Tae joo loomed over her, his shadow engulfing her petite figure.

“Ah…” She let out a soft gasp, finally realizing her position. She bit her lip nervously like a cornered mouse trying to maintain composure.

Tae joo brought his arm up, resting it against the wall above her head.

“Yoon Seol.”

“Yes?”

“Who am I?”

“…My teacher?”

“Not that. My name.”

“Kang… Tae joo.”

“Right. You know what kind of person I am, don’t you?”

Her brown eyes wavered, clearly recalling the rumors—about his womanizing, his drinking, and his wild, reckless lifestyle.

“Exactly,” he said with a smirk.

“So why on earth would I, someone like that, marry someone like you?”

“Because…” she hesitated, biting her lip harder before finally speaking.

“Because I’m… your first for everything.”

Her bold words caught him off guard, her eyes shining with resolve.

“This uniform—I only wore it because of you. So, you should be the one to take it off.”

Tae joo’s throat bobbed as he swallowed hard. Take it off?

“I just graduated today. Consider it my graduation gift. What do you say?”

He let out a hollow laugh, staring at her like she was a puzzle he couldn’t solve.

Yoon Seol—this audacious little storm that had turned his carefree life upside down.

If anyone found out that Kang Tae joo, the infamous playboy, was being led around in circles by a fresh-faced 20-year-old, they’d never believe it.

And yet, this ridiculous game of cat and mouse had started about a month ago.
