Married to a Man who Wants to Kill me

The Return of Demonio

Demonio once again pushed aside Sejin’s consciousness and took control of Lethenia’s body. His power, which he had been holding back until he recovered, had become even stronger. Demonio had begun absorbing some of Lethenia’s magical power.

He had been scrutinizing Sejin’s soul all this time. The real Lethenia’s soul, from which he was parasitic, was incredibly feeble.

To fully possess Lethenia’s body, Demonio needed to use Sejin. If he stayed like this, her consciousness could push him away at any time.

Though occasionally frustrated by the more challenging process of taking over a human body, Demonio found some amusement in this unprecedented pastime over the years.

One corner of Lethenia’s mouth, tainted by Demonio’s influence, subtly curled upward. Demonio slowly rose to his feet and looked around.

A stranger raised his hand as if to harm Lethenia again. However, the man froze and could no longer move.

Demonio stared intently at the man. A mysterious power emanated from his violet eyes, binding the man’s body. The man couldn’t even scream in his paralyzed state.

Under the oppressive force, the man’s jawbone began to turn unnaturally.

“Uh… uh….”

The man gagged on his own saliva as his jaw continued to turn. Only weak moans occasionally escaped his lips. The corner of Lethenia’s mouth turned up even more.

Then the man’s jawbone turned completely, and his face twisted grotesquely as his bones shattered. He fell to the ground with a thud.

Both groups, who had been pointing their swords at each other, stopped and looked at Lethenia in unison as they felt something strange.

Chaos erupted in an instant. With more power at his disposal, Demonio casually committed slaughter like a fish in water. Corpses piled up one by one around him.

Not a drop of blood was spilled, but they all died instantly. The scattered bodies depicted unimaginable cruelty, beyond what any human could do.

Some bodies had their necks completely turned backward, while others had their skulls crushed, scattering across the floor.

Lethenia’s eyes slowly grew black. And the black mark on her chest had risen to her throat. Stepping over the bodies, Demonio made his way to the captain in the navigation room.

“Turn the ship around.”

The captain, looking at the field of corpses behind the woman speaking those words, trembled.

Although going ashore would inevitably lead to a massacre, he had no choice but to heed the words of the woman with the face of a witch.

Demonio casually walked out, kicking aside the bodies.

Killing more humans on the ship consumed more magical power than he had anticipated. He needed a moment of rest.

As Demonio descended from the ship, he saw many people in front of him.

Just standing there would make them scream in fear. He chuckled wickedly, and his sinister laughter echoed through the air.

A young child passing by pointed at Lethenia, who had a bizarre pattern on her neck, and said to his mother,

“That sister’s neck looks weird!”

The scream of the woman, who turned her head at the child’s words, pierced the ears of several people like a dagger.

“Ahh!!”

Demonio found it amusing to see people panic and scramble just by looking at him without doing anything.

Lethenia’s vivid violet eyes had already lost their original color, becoming dim.

Witnessing a woman with the mark of a black mage smiling was enough to make people tremble as if they would collapse at any moment.

Soon, armored knights surrounded Demonio. They pointed their swords at him and shouted,

“Surrender peacefully!”

Demonio’s temper flared at the sight of what stood before him. A black mist rose from Lethenia’s body.

The knights hesitated, unable to approach recklessly. One of them bravely took a few steps closer to subdue Lethenia.

Demonio drew magical power and lifted the man high into the air before swiftly tearing his body into several pieces.

Blood sprayed on the ground from the man’s dismembered body, staining Lethenia’s pale skin.

Lethenia, surrounded by a black mist with blood-soaked attire, presented a horrific witch-like appearance to anyone who saw her.

Ian locked eyes with the black pupils staring at him inside the prison, then he lowered his gaze.

His gaze remained fixed on the black mark on her neck—a mark related to black magic.

Lethenia had been brought from the dock near the Riven Palace. Rosetin, or rather, Siana, had said to him.

<At first, I thought it was the real Rosetin’s soul that had moved into my body, but… when she looked at me, she didn’t seem to recognize me. It was as if she were not Rosetin, but something else.>

Siana, who was a party involved in the incident, didn’t know exactly what was inside Lethenia.

At first, he was confused, too. Except for the insane things she had been doing lately, Lethenia didn’t seem like a crazy person, much different from the past.

Rather than acting as a wicked witch, she was just an ordinary person. In fact, she had done good deeds for the Xenosians, supporting them and empowering them against the oppression of nobles.

This made him wonder if Rosetin’s soul was actually inside Lethenia’s body.

So he accepted Lethenia’s proposal to escape far away from Asha.

However, for some reason, Lethenia began exhibiting strange behavior again, and it was worse than before.

Many Imperial citizens witnessed the tragedy caused by Lethenia, where more than one life was lost in her hands.

Looking at the demonic mark on her neck and her dark eyes, he could no longer deny it. Demonio had possessed Lethenia. All the bizarre actions of Lethenia that were incomprehensible until then were undoubtedly the work of Demonio.

Lethenia’s eyes had already transformed into the murderous gaze of a black mage. He questioned Lethenia with a dry tone. “Who are you?”

“You already know, Ian.”

Demonio’s sinister laughter echoed in the prison like a piercing noise.

But his hollow eyes, devoid of laughter, were fixed on Ian’s heart. Ian felt a momentary chill from that gaze.

He held the sacred stone in his inner chest pocket. It was the strange stone that knights brought to him, found on the ship where the tragedy occurred.

While ordinary people might not know what it was, Ian knew it was a tool to ward off black magic.

Now that he thought about it, Claflin seemed to have known in advance that Lethenia would be possessed by Demonio and took this measure.

Ian concealed his confusion and spoke with a calm face.

“You’ve done some crazy things on that ship.”

“Did it only surprise you that much?”

Ian’s brow wrinkled momentarily. Demonio’s words sounded like there would be more slaughter to come.

“Why are you willingly imprisoned here like this?”

After ruthlessly killing dozens of people, Lethenia willingly allowed herself to be brought to the capital. Surely there must be another reason. Instead of answering, Demonio responded with a meaningful smile.

The moment Ian saw that expression, he felt an uncomfortably chilling sensation. Suddenly, Lethenia lost consciousness and collapsed to the ground.

After a very short time, Lethenia opened her eyes again and slowly pulled herself up.

“……Ian?”

Lethenia looked around, confused. Ian’s cold expression reached her.

Demonio had retreated, and she had returned to her former self. However, Ian now harbors suspicions. Could even this appearance be an illusion crafted by Demonio?

As such thoughts crossed his mind, the desire to face Lethenia vanished. As he turned away, Lethenia urgently called out,

“Wait! Whatever happened, you have to understand. Please listen to me….”

Ian paused momentarily at Lethenia’s pitiful voice. It sounded as if the real Lethenia was holding onto him.

He looked back again. Her eyes were back to their violet color, and they sparkled with an overwhelming amount of emotion.

But she wasn’t Siana. Therefore, he no longer had a reason to protect her or pour out his affection. Drawing closer to Lethenia, he spoke softly.

“At first, I thought you were just having a change of heart because you resented me.”

“…….”

“But I’ve always had doubts. You were acting like a different person, not the Lethenia I knew.”

A slight tremor was visible in Lethenia’s face under Ian’s chilly gaze. In the past, such a sight might have tormented him with guilt, but now he could accept it indifferently. Continuing with an indifferent expression, he said,

“In fact, it’s only natural that you’d feel that way.”

“Why are you suddenly so…….”

“Because…..what . you’re not Lethenia.”

Confusion and astonishment alternated on Lethenia’s face.

“I-Ian.”

Ignoring her words, Ian turned away. Although her voice desperately called out to him, he moved on as if he hadn’t heard anything.

Leaving her alone in the cold prison, he disappeared.

    I highkey hate Ian 😭🙏

This guy has like zero conscious or remorse for his actions?? It’s not like Sejin asked to be there or be possessed by a demon, yet he still has to be an asshole. I hoped the realization about Siana would make him more mindful, but he’s still the exact same. I know he’s not ML, but seriously his entitled attitude is the most frustrating I’ve read in a while.
