LRVP Chapter 51

LRVP I Chapter 51

Chapter 51

“What?” “Share it with him?” Claude and I said it at the same time.

It wasn’t something like ice cream you could scoop with a spoon—it was a crepe, something you’d bite into. Sharing that? That’s just… Too much like something a couple would do!

Just imagining Claude and me, sitting side by side and taking turns biting into a crepe, made my face heat up instantly.

“Is something wrong?” Claude, clueless about my inner turmoil, tilted his head.

“No, never mind. Just give us two.”

“But didn’t you say you were full earlier?”

Claude looked at me, puzzled.

“It’s fine. I can leave some if I can’t finish it.”

“You’ll get punished for wasting food,” a firm voice rose up from below.

I looked down to find Amelia chewing her own crepe.

“If you leave food, you go to hell and have to eat everything you left behind.”

“Who told you that?”

“I read it in a book.”

What kind of books is this kid reading?

“Auntie, are you planning to leave your crepe?”

“Yeah.”

“But you told me not to waste food!”

Now Lucian joined the conversation.

“You told me not to, but you don’t follow your own rules?!”

“I’m not breaking the rule. I’m not eating a crepe at all.”

After calming Lucian down, I turned to Claude.

“Marquis, you can finish a whole crepe, right?”

He usually ate well, so I figured one crepe wouldn’t be a problem.

“No.”

“…”

“I only want half. Exactly half.”

His voice was firm, like he wasn’t willing to compromise.

“It would be perfect if you helped me finish it,” He said with a smile.

“Come on, just get one and share it. What’s the big deal between a married couple?”

“A m-married couple?! We’re not like that!” I flailed my arms in panic.

“Marquis, say something!”

I looked to Claude for support, but instead…

“Am I disgusting…?”

He stood there, looking hurt.

“Disgusting? What are you talking about?”

“You don’t want to eat it because my mouth touched it, right?”

“No, it’s not that. I just…”

It was because his mouth had touched it… But saying that would only confirm it.

“So I am disgusting, after all…”

“No! Not at all!” Panicking, I waved my hands and quickly turned to the shopkeeper.

“One crepe, please! Chocolate flavor!”

“Right away!” The shopkeeper grinned like he’d been waiting for this.

Soon, a crepe topped with chocolate and nuts arrived.

“You first.”

“Oh, okay.”

If I hesitated again, Claude might really start crying.

I quickly took a bite. The soft dough mixed with the sweet chocolate and crunchy almonds—it melted in my mouth. Yes. This is the taste.

“Is it good?”

“Ah.”

Claude was smiling at me. That’s when I realized I’d been too absorbed in the taste.

I pulled my head back quickly.

“It’s just a crepe. They all taste the same.”

“You seemed to enjoy that one more than usual.”

He laughed softly and pointed to under my lips.

“You’ve got something there.”

“R-really?”

I started wiping my mouth with my hand.

“Is it gone?”

“No, a bit lower.”

“How about now?”

“A little to the right.”

“Now?”

Claude shook his head. With no mirror, I had no idea where the cream was.

“Is there a mirror somewhere?”

As I looked around, flustered—

“Not there.”

Claude reached out and gently touched under my lower lip.

“Here.”

His rough fingers brushed over my skin.

“It was right here.” He said, showing me the whipped cream on his thumb.

“T-thank you.”

My face flushed. That part of my lip burned like it had been touched by fire.

I quickly pulled out a handkerchief and wiped his hand.

The thought that what had been on my lips was now on his hand made me unbearably embarrassed.

“Tastes good,” Claude said casually as he took a bite—right from the spot I had bitten.

“Want another bite?”

“N-no! I’m full. You can finish it.”

“Too bad. It’s really good.”

“I-I’ll eat less next time so I can try more.”

I didn’t even know what I was saying anymore. I just needed to say something—anything—to hide how embarrassed I felt.

I really should stop thinking about Claude that way. Once I started noticing him, I couldn’t stop. My heart kept racing, and my face wouldn’t stop heating up.

“Kids, did you finish your crepes?”

I turned my attention to the three little rascals to distract myself.

But no reply came.

“Hey?”

I looked around—but they were gone.

“Oh no…”

That’s when it hit me.

I’d been so focused on Claude, I completely lost track of the kids.

“Lia, are you sure this is okay? Lucella said not to wander off alone.”

“That’s why we’re not alone. We’re together, and we’re even holding hands like she told us to.”

“Well, yeah, but…”

Edwin’s voice trailed off. Something didn’t feel right, but Amelia made a good point—as always.

“Actually, this is the perfect time for us to disappear.”

There was definitely something going on between Lucella and Claude. It was sweet and soft—just like that crepe.

We should give them some alone time.

Holding hands, matching steps, sharing food… Next step: sharing meals every day like a real couple.

“Hehehe.”

“Lia, your laugh is scary…”

Realizing he couldn’t stop Amelia, Edwin turned to a new target.

“I think we should go back now. Right, Lucian?”

“Whoa! Look at all those magic stones!”

But expecting anything from Lucian was a mistake. He was just thrilled to be running around freely without anyone stopping him.

“Are we really allowed to explore on our own?”

“Don’t worry.”

Amelia squeezed Edwin’s hand. His cheeks flushed pink.

“…Okay.”

He gave in and let Amelia lead him.

“Whoa, what’s that?”

“Cotton candy. It’s a treat made from spun sugar.”

“And that?”

“That’s just a waffle, I think.”

It didn’t take long before Edwin was just as distracted as Lucian.

“Let’s go over there!” Lucian pointed to a fork in the road.

To the left were fancy boutiques. To the right were less flashy but more interesting shops.

Lucian, of course, chose the right.

“Why? I wanted to go left.”

“We always go there. I want to see something new.”

“Fine. Whatever you want.”

Amelia nodded. She had memorized the way back, so she wasn’t worried.

“This place is totally different.”

“Look, they’re selling magical items!”

Despite being mature for her age, Amelia was still just a seven-year-old. The mysterious goods easily caught her attention.

“Wow! This shop sells things from monsters!”

Lucian had been obsessed with monster fairy tales lately.

“Lucian, do you even know what ‘byproducts’ means?”

“Of course not!” Lucian shouted proudly and ran off to the monster shop.

“He’s hopeless.”

“Lia, Lucian! Wait for me!”

Amelia and Edwin, their eyes wide with curiosity, followed right behind.
