Chapter 1
Prologue
There are days like that, aren’t there?
A day when you wake up early on your own, feeling refreshed, as if last night’s dreams have evaporated from memory, and you have this inexplicable sense that everything will go smoothly.
Today was that kind of day for me.
To top it off, I’d just received the news I had been waiting for, filling me with excitement…
“Please, divorce me, my lady.”
Boom!
My husband, Euclid, spoke in a pitiful tone, displaying his dazzling beauty once again today.
His golden eyelashes, as radiant as the sun, quivered, casting a melancholic and forlorn shadow over his perfectly composed features.
‘Wow, he can even pull off this wistful aura? His face is just endlessly captivating…’
No, that’s not the point here!
“What did you just say?”
I sharply questioned him, doubting my ears, and Euclid answered with an even shakier voice than before.
“I-I want a… d-divorce…”
“Ha!”
So I didn’t mishear him?
I couldn’t help but let out a laugh in disbelief.
But upon seeing Euclid’s shoulders tremble, I quickly masked my frown.
There are times when even I am startled by my own reflection in the mirror, so I can’t imagine what strain this face might put on Euclid’s delicate heart.
Or maybe he’d already concluded that he couldn’t bear living with such a harsh face and that’s why he asked for a divorce.
Could that really be the reason?
With a trembling hand, I reached out to the divorce papers Euclid had carefully placed on the desk.
His name was signed in a soft, elegant handwriting—my favorite part of his.
Wow, I still can’t believe it.
After denying reality for a while, I turned back to look at Euclid.
He had raised his head and was looking at me with a sorrowful expression. His moist eyes made me falter, softening my resolve.
“Are you being serious? For your information, I’m not the type who clings to ‘honesty’ as a virtue in all situations. I appreciate a ‘white lie’ here and there, so please consider that when you answer.”
Euclid hesitated at my words, but then nodded.
“…I am serious.”
What? The polite, respectful Euclid gave such an answer? Could he truly want a divorce this much?
I stared at him, mouth agape.
Unable to handle my intense gaze, Euclid bit down hard on his lower lip.
No, why are you biting those precious lips so harshly!
Worried that his lips might bleed, I found my concern absurd, even at a time like this.
But I couldn’t help it.
‘After all, Euclid is my ultimate favorite!’
For the longest time, I had felt grateful for the fortune of having my favorite person as my husband, and I did everything I could to make him happy. So Euclid’s words about wanting a divorce just wouldn’t sink in.
Yet here he was, along with those divorce papers—a harsh reality.
Fine, if it’s for the sake of my favorite person…
If what you want is a divorce from me…!
With a clenched fist, I opened my mouth.
“Nope, not happening. Go back.”
If nothing else, divorce is the one thing I absolutely refuse!
I stood up, grabbed the divorce papers, and ripped them to shreds right in front of Euclid’s face.
Perhaps shocked by my reckless action, Euclid’s eyes shook as wildly as the fluttering fragments of paper.
If it were any other day, I’d have been flustered by that look, but not now.
Unable to calm the storm within me, I raised a corner of my mouth and thought to myself:
‘Did he really think I got reincarnated into this world just to get divorced?!’

1. I Reincarnated as a Villainous Heiress in a Trashy Drama.
“Born with a fate to stumble upon fortune, no matter what.”
Since her grandmother was always interested in fortune-telling, she supposedly told her disappointed father, who had wanted a son, that he should not worry.
Whether her grandmother was concerned for her mother, who felt uncomfortable after finally having a child after ten years of marriage, or if she genuinely believed that I was destined for wealth, no one could be sure back then.
But it didn’t take long for her grandmother’s words to start sounding prophetic.
My father, who had worked at a small company, was unexpectedly scouted by a major corporation he had never even dreamed of working for, quickly rising to a high position and earning a large salary.
At that time, my father believed his success was entirely his own doing, so he declared, brimming with confidence, that he would quit his job and start his own business.
My mother, who had always been obedient to my father, resisted for the first time, leaving the house with me. But my father, undeterred, poured all his accumulated savings, even his retirement payout, into starting his business.
Predictably, things didn’t go well for my father, who had never run a business before and had only worked for companies.
In the end, deeply in debt to relatives and acquaintances, my father came running back, seeking my mother. Or more accurately, me.
“Dear, your father has neglected you for too long. Things will be different now. I’ll even take you on that vacation I kept putting off because I was busy. I’ll make a fortune and treat you like a princess.”
“Oh, so you mean you neglected me? I didn’t even notice; I was too comfortable.”
“I-I did, didn’t I?”
My father, who had always been authoritative, put his pride aside and apologized earnestly.
And, astonishingly, the moment I returned home, my father’s failing business started to thrive as if by magic. No, it went beyond thriving.
Within a month, he paid off all his debts, and thanks to one stroke of luck after another, his business gained a solid reputation as a mid-sized company almost overnight.
Then, the relatives who had once ignored him began to subtly cling to him. Positions were created in my father’s company for my aunts, uncles, and cousins, and since the business was doing well, family relations were at an all-time high—until my parents passed away suddenly.
“How could young Eun-ju manage all that inheritance on her own?”
“Yes, given her age, the family should manage the estate….”
“Why are you stepping in when I’m her aunt? Everyone knows I was closest to her father! Naturally, I should be her guardian!”
My father’s inheritance, which had once held the family together, now drove a wedge between them.
“Oh my, I never expected everyone to care about me so much. But Aunt, were you really that close to my father? Anyway, my grandmother is still sharp, so there’s no need for anyone else to act as my guardian.”
Though every relative wanted to be my guardian and control my parents’ life insurance and inheritance, my grandmother firmly held her position as my guardian.
After I became an adult and my grandmother passed away, I was completely on my own and began managing my finances directly. And soon, I realized something.
“I… I really do have an insane amount of luck when it comes to money.”
I had incredible luck when it came to finances.
The stores where I worked part-time were always bustling with customers, and even the lottery tickets I bought on a whim brought in big winnings.
I began to wonder how far this luck could go, so I boldly founded an investment company.
The results were nothing short of astonishing.
Every business plan I chose, every venture I invested in, brought in massive returns.
Making money was far more enjoyable than I had imagined, and it suited me perfectly.
But.
‘I need to make more. This isn’t nearly enough.’
Was this my father’s business obsession surfacing, or simply human greed at work?
Ever since I started making money, my mind had been filled with the constant thought that it wasn’t enough.
Though it puzzled me, I became so deeply engrossed in making money that I could not escape it.
Then one day, as I had all but given up on love in real life due to mistrust of people trying to use me for my money, I found myself with an unexpected new hobby.
“Euclid… you’re my future.”
I stumbled upon a romance fantasy novel, The Saintess’s Dangerous Choice, while looking to invest in content creation and ended up utterly obsessed.
The problem was that my favorite character wasn’t even the male lead, nor the secondary male lead, but a supporting character!
“Oh, such a barely-there presence…”
I read and re-read his limited scenes so many times that I practically had them memorized.
With nothing but money at my disposal, I had only one option left.
“The author’s pen name is ‘Money-hungry’? Well, that’s a name I like.”
Laughing to myself, I sent the author a brief email.
I said they were free to publish it publicly, and I would pay them as much as they wanted per chapter to write a side story or a new tale with Euclid Ruddion as the main character.
Then, just moments later—
“What? Already?”
Not even a minute had passed since they’d read my message, and I received a reply.
‘Surely they’re not declining, right?’
No way.
“They’re probably asking how much I’m willing to pay.”
After all, in this world, money can make anything happen, and if it doesn’t, that just means there isn’t enough money involved.
Anticipating a positive response, I quickly moved my mouse to open the message.
But before I could even read the contents—
“Huh…?”
A bright light enveloped my vision, and I felt my strength begin to drain.
Thud! As my body and head hit the floor, a thunderous sound reverberated in my ears.
And when I opened my eyes again…
“Is this… for real?”
I had become Evgenia Basilian, the villainous cousin of the female protagonist and an obsessive admirer of one of the male leads, the crown prince, in The Saintess’s Dangerous Choice.
