I'm Trying to End This Possession

* * *

Allice’s POV

“Thank you, Allice.”

I secretly hid Huan in a carriage and smuggled him into the mansion. There was only one reason for this.

Right, I can’t just send Uncle Huan away like this.

For reconciliation. For the family.

Yes. Surely, Dad will regret having thrown Uncle out once his anger subsides.

So, I have to prevent that from happening. It’s something only I can do.

The task of calming family discord. A task only a kind and strong person can do.

I’m the only one who can do this in this house.  Thinking this, I felt a surge of strength, even forgetting the failure of the moonlight flower project.

And that’s not all. Huan, my uncle, was said to be the mastermind behind the crash of the moonlight flower prices! All I had to do was bring Huan back and present him before everyone. Then, all his misdeeds would be exposed. The arrows of blame would all point to him.

That thought tore at my heart, but it was the path to true justice.

“Trust me, Uncle.”

I gripped Uncle Huan’s thick hand tightly, and my eyes sparkled. “Just wait in my room for a bit. I’ll bring Dad or Mom soon.”

“Yes, that would be nice, Allice.” Uncle Huan said with a grateful face. “I’ll wait here quietly.”

Huan’s POV

Of course, Huan did not wait quietly. As soon as Allice left, he immediately slipped out of the room.

Carl will throw me out again. No, he might even kill me. He said he would kill me if he saw me again. He definitely said that.

I knew very well what Carl was like when he was a soldier. Carl had been cruel and merciless during his military days. He was infamous for pursuing fleeing enemies and bringing back their heads. Some even spread vicious rumors that he enjoyed killing. In short, Carl was a man who could kill his own brother-in-law!

No, this Huan can’t end here!

There was still a way out.

The love potion. If I could somehow make Danae ingest it, all my failures would be reset. No, what reset? I would reach the pinnacle of my life. Treasures I had never touched before would pour down on me.

Yes. This is actually good. I, Huan, am meant for great things. I’m not meant to serve under my brother-in-law.  With that in mind, I risked everything and headed to Danae’s bedroom. But.

“Do you know?”

A servant’s voice echoed in the hallway! I quickly hid behind a pillar.

“I heard Miss Allice sold moonlight flowers to her friends.”

What?

“Yeah, I heard too. She sold them to her friends who attended her tea party in exchange for money?”

Luckily, the voices gradually faded away. They hadn’t noticed me.

What did I just hear?

My lips curled behind the pillar. Allice, this foolish girl. Secretly selling Moonlight Flowers? After doing such a thing, she dares to mock me? What would happen if this fact became known? I briefly considered punishing Allice but then abandoned the thought.

No. Getting Danae is more important.

I tiptoed heel first, towards her bedroom. Miraculously, I didn’t bump into anyone on the way.

Luck is on my side!

I quietly opened the door to Danae’s bedroom. Danae was standing at the window, gazing outside.

Perfect!

I drooled over her elegant back.

She’s mine now!

“Don’t scream.”

I pounced on her from behind, gripping her slender neck, and whispered. “If you scream, I’ll shoot you.” The hard gun was pressed against her lower back.

She trembled slightly. That sent a thrill through me. I should have done this earlier.

She’s just a woman. A woman who can be subdued by force. And it took me long enough to come here!

“You should’ve not ignored my love, Danae.”

I fumbled in my pocket, intending to take out the love potion.

“Playing with a man’s heart led to this. You shouldn’t have mocked my love!”

Damn, where’s the bottle! The small bottle of potion was not easy to find.

“Love? What love?” Danae retorted. “You’re after my wealth, and you dare to dress it up as love.”

“Shut your mouth! How dare a woman talk back to her heavenly husband like this!” I angrily pressed the gun barrel harder against her back. I thought she would be scared by now.

“Heavenly husband… You dream big.”

Laughing? I stopped searching for the bottle and looked down at Danae’s head. Did she just laugh?

“You.”

Is this girl mocking me?

“You think I can’t shoot you?”

Then Danae looked up at me with a sly smile. “Yes.”

She narrowed her eyes into a smile. “You’re a coward, aren’t you?”

“What?”

“Do you have the guts to shoot? Are you confident about handling the aftermath?”

My cheek twitches. I was being ignored. By a much younger girl. Completely disregarded by a girl young enough to be my niece. Just like the countless families, women, and people who had ignored me!

“You!”

Suddenly, I felt something snap in my head.

“This damned b*tch, how dare you ignore me!”

Blinded by rage, I roughly grabbed Danae’s hair with one hand.

“I can kill you! Even without a gun, I can kill a frail woman like you!”

I gripped her hair even tighter as if to demonstrate my strength. Danae winced in pain. This gave me a perverse sense of pleasure.

Yes. How about that. I’m strong. I can easily overpower a mere woman like you!

But.

“You’re the worst.”

The next moment, her voice was full of mockery.

“It seems that all you can flaunt is your strength. And that too against a weaker woman.”

“What did you say?”

“Your proud face is quite a sight, Huan Rolland.”

Danae looked straight at me and laughed. “If I were you, I’d be so embarrassed I’d shoot myself in the head.”

This woman!

I completely lost it. I yanked her hair mercilessly and pressed the cold barrel of the gun hard against her temple. Should I just shoot her right now!

It was at that moment of impulse. Bang! A gunshot echoed from somewhere far away.

I froze momentarily. What was that sound?

Uaaaaaah!”

The realization came a moment too late. Drip, drip. Blood spurting from my shoulder made me aware. I had been shot!

Aah!”

Then, bang! Another faint gunshot, precisely hitting the same spot.

Aaaah!”

Two bullets drilled into the exact spot. The pain was like bones burning in fire. I slumped down in terrible pain.

H-hic, huff.”

It hurts. It hurts. It’s so painful. It feels like my arm is being torn off.

I gasped for air, hunched over. What? What was that? Where did the bullet come from? We’re high up. There’s nothing outside the window.

No.

Across from the window, there was a window in the distance.

Did someone shoot from that distance? And hit the same spot twice?

That was my last thought. I fainted out right there.
