I'm a Supporting Role in a Horror Game, Don't Kill Me

CHAPTER 071

It took a lot of courage for me to look into Luke’s eyes as if they were curious about the basement.

‘I guess I didn’t offend the killer for nothing…?’

I swallowed hard and waited for his reaction, but Luke seemed to think for a moment and smiled slightly. That smile was like watching a child do something cute… I felt like my face was turning red for no reason other than being nervous.

‘Why is it like that…?’

“…Why are you laughing?”

“No.”

“…It’s not like that. “You smiled when you saw me.”

“Just… You said you lost your earring the other day, right? When we meet in the basement. But you suddenly revealed that you were interested in the basement.”

I knew that flimsy excuse wouldn’t have worked at the time, but I never thought I’d say it so openly.

‘…It’s embarrassing.’

Probably not only the face but also the earlobes were red. While I couldn’t answer anything, Luke nodded his head with a smile.

“Great. There is no need to hide it from Miss Green, since we have come this far anyway.”

‘The relationship has come this far… That sounds a bit strange.’

Even though I was grumbling to myself, I quickly nodded. Then he urged him.

“Shall we go now?”

“Now?”

“They say to remove the ox horn as soon as possible.”

“A cow’s horn?”

It’s almost like the world outside the game, but sometimes it’s cute that they act like they don’t know anything about these proverbs. It’s natural because the world is different, but I didn’t even know about this topic that was making fun of me until now.

I covered my mouth with my hand to hide my smile, but then stopped in shock.

‘…What was I thinking?’

He was good to me, and I wanted to trust him, but that was all. There was no evidence yet to suggest that he could be trusted. But now I…

‘…Did you think it was cute?’

I bit the inside of my lip again out of habit and spoke to Luke as harshly as possible.

“Anyway, there is something like that. I’m going to go anyway, but will there be any problems if I go right now?”

He shook his head, but his actions and words were different.

“Not really, but there’s too much attention right now. And I have to take care of some annoying pre-orders. See you again at midnight. Is that okay?”

‘But considering that we’ve been preventing access to the basement until now, it’s a huge improvement.’

I suspected that he was taking his time to hide something, but he had already devoted enough time to me today, so he must be busy. I nodded obediently and walked out of his room.

I was coming out of Luke’s room with my heart pounding almost like it was going to burst, and I almost bumped into someone who was standing right in front of the door.

“…Wow!”

“Miss Arbice?”

It was only after I started screaming that I noticed her neatly styled red hair and round glasses and my heart sank.

“Are you very surprised? I should have acted more carefully.”

I was the one who opened the door, but Mr. Blier was the first to apologize. I felt somewhat sorry and quickly waved my hand.

“…no. I just… I have something to be nervous about…”

“Phew, I think you’re overdoing it too.”

She looked at me with her pitiful eyes and then touched my forehead and cheek. She seemed to think that my unusual surprise was due to the kidnapper’s actions.

“Go back to your room quickly. I’ll give you something warm.”

“No, that won’t happen.”

“No. Peace of mind is more important than anything else. If necessary, I will also call a priest.”

Mr. Blier spoke so sweetly that I almost nodded at him.

“It’s okay. Rather, were you looking for me?”

“Ah… yes.”

She took out one of the letters from the white apron around her waist and held it out to me.

“I think I’ve received a reply to the letter I sent this morning.”

When I received it, the name of the latte was written on it.

‘You responded really quickly. I hope Shine and Luna get excited when they say they want to see me.’

I smiled happily, and asked if Mr. Blier had come looking for me because of a letter that could have been left in my room.

“And?”

“Ah yes. The master and the young lady said they wouldn’t eat until Arvice came… But it’s okay because resting comes first. I’ll go and sleep…”

“No, I’ll go.”

I smiled brightly and patted her arm.

Mr. Blier sighed and gave me the way as if he understood.

“How can you be so responsible…?”

[Blier White’s likeability has increased.

Her sudden crush was also tickled by her window, and as she walked quickly, Mr. Blier’s sparkling eyes tickled the back of her head.

As I entered the dining hall, two children who had been waiting for me came clinging to my legs.

“I’m done!”

“I’m done!”

“…Oh my, really?”

Shine and Luna hurriedly handed me a question paper.

‘I couldn’t solve it all yesterday, so there’s quite a bit left over.’

I thought they were both joking, so I took the worksheet and flipped through a few pages, but it was really full of scribbled writing until the last page.

“Oh my, have you done this already?”

The nanny sighed when she saw my surprised expression.

“Well, you two were so absorbed that you said you wouldn’t even eat lunch until you finished this. Before I came here, I worked at the Marquis, but this is the first time I’ve seen the master and young lady so focused.”

‘The nanny needs to see how distracting these two kids really are.’

“When there is something at stake, I work hard.”

I smiled slightly and took the kids to the study room, where we sat at the table and compared the answer sheets with the content and graded them. Perhaps they were really concentrating on solving the problem, but both of them had a higher percentage of correct answers than usual. I was fortunate that the math wasn’t that difficult for me to teach, as I had only a few experience tutoring children.

After explaining why the wrong questions were wrong, Shine and Luna quickly nodded as if they understood everything. Then they waved their hands and feet wildly on the chair and shouted out what they wanted.

“Hide and seek!”

“Hide and seek! This time it’s Luna’s turn to play tag!”

‘…No, when was the last time you played hide and seek, and did you even memorize your turn to play tag?’

I didn’t know how bright his bright eyes were. As I was stroking Luna’s fluffy hair, I remembered her letter in my pocket and smiled.

‘It’s a pretty good plan, isn’t it?’

“I did my homework so well, so of course I have to play hide and seek. But, is it okay if I stay for a little while because the teacher has some business to attend to?”

“Huh!”

“Yes!”

The two children nodded excitedly, not knowing what I was thinking.

“Instead, you should eat well.”

“Huh. Instead, keep your promise.”

“Luna, you eat carrots well too.”

“All right.”

As I gave each child another pat on the head and sent them off to the dining room, the nanny looked at me with an admiring look on her face. Then he whispered to me in a very low voice that the children could not hear.

“You are really very capable.”

“Haha…”

“If I were the duke’s lover, I would just spend my days playing and receiving only what he gives me, but how is it that Arviche is so diligent and loves children…?”

“…no.”

“Since you are such a sincere and loving person, you must have fallen in love with the Duke, right?”

“…haha.”

[Delia Ribbon’s favorability has increased.

Lv.1(45/99)]

Based on my experience so far, I knew that no matter how hard I tried to correct her huge misunderstanding, it would not be possible. So she just shook her head and smiled awkwardly and left the room.

Shine, Luna, and I came down to the space between the smallest living room and utility room on the first floor of Learmond Mansion. The main goal was to give the children what they wanted as promised, but I also had my own additional purpose in playing hide and seek. I planned to use this opportunity to explore places that would look suspicious if I wandered around alone.

Among the items I had already picked up as a player, there were some hidden in the mansion’s utility room, so it would be better if I could farm them, and if I could find the case files that Inspector Triver gave to Luke. And today’s hide and seek had another special purpose.

I lightly clapped my hands to get their attention and whispered to Luna and Shine.

“Let’s see. Luna will have a hard time finding us if we go too far, so we’ll just hide inside the first floor. Should we just do it in that parlor first?”

“Good.”

“Great!”

“Luna is a tagger!”

“Yes, Luna is playing tag.”

“Do I have to count to ten and then come catch it? Okay, Luna?”

“Huh! I’ll count to ten!”

I looked towards the curtains in the living room as I saw children who knew nothing, stamping their feet with excitement. It wasn’t a large space for an adult to hide in, so I could see the curtains sticking out.

The surprise gift I invited for Shine and Luna was hidden there. I imagined the three people hiding behind them, holding their breath, and waited for Luna’s signal with my heart pounding.

‘I wonder if people use hidden cameras because of this flavor.’

“Ten… nine… eight…”

Shine giggled excitedly as Luna covered her eyes with her fern-like hands and began to count.
