I'm a Supporting Role in a Horror Game, Don't Kill Me

CHAPTER 055

“Can you walk?”

“Yes, of course.”

“This way.”

Contrary to the bold answer, it was not easy for my body, which was exposed to extreme tension, to even straighten my legs and stand up. In particular, as I looked towards the door of the room where the Lakers were pointing, I felt even more weak. I stood up, trying to look natural.

Stumbling.

Just now, when I was being chased by the kidnapper, I was moving just fine while shooting a revolver, but my body was as limp as watery seaweed, wondering why squatting down and getting up was so difficult. Perhaps the problem was that the shoes she had been wearing before being kidnapped had a slightly high heel, or perhaps it was because the surprise had not yet subsided. And maybe… Just looking at the wooden door kept reminding me of the scene where a masked man entered the door, dragging a double-edged ax across the floor. As he stood against the wall to catch his breath and shake off the memories that were racing through his mind, the Lakers held out the hand they had just taken.

“What?”

“That bastard who was just here has run away for now, but we don’t know what trick he’s planning. You better not stay here too long.”

“…Ah yes. Let’s go.”

Stumbling.

As I took the other step, my body felt like it was sinking down once again.

‘Why are you doing this?’

When he tried to massage his foot with his hand, the hand he thought was stable started shaking again. Luke reached out his hand and cupped my arm and frowned. He looked like he was really angry about something, and his smile, which was always smiling carelessly, went nowhere and his face was filled with a ferocious look as if he was about to do something.

“Excuse me.”

“Yes?”

“I thought the priority was for Ms. Green to be stable, but that won’t be that easy. Then let’s get out of here.”

“…I mean, that’s it.”

“Do you mind if I hug you for a moment?”

I looked down at my feet. If this was the first floor, I would have insisted that I would walk on my own, but it was quite high, so I couldn’t tell if it was the third or fourth floor. I couldn’t just refuse help in a situation like this where my legs didn’t belong to me and they didn’t listen to me.

“…I am grateful for the help.”

After receiving my permission, Luke gently picked me up. He lifted me up at an angle, as if I were a child rather than his lady, and then hugged me again.

‘Obviously, from what I’ve seen, neither Shine nor Luna have ever been hugged much, but it’s really strange that she acts like someone who has dealt with children more than women.’

But the tough chore of getting my arms around the killer’s neck soon made such insignificant questions swiftly fade into the background. I entered the hallway through that awful wooden door and found myself in Luke’s arms. Most likely, the structure I was stuck in was one of the abandoned mansions next to the impoverished neighborhoods. The stairs and corridors had oddly expensive-looking ornaments, yet they were covered in cobwebs and grime from neglect. I was carried down the steps by Lukes. Every time I descended a flight of steps, I peered around me with blurry eyes and shut everything out.

‘…I hate to admit it, but I might be lucky to be with Luke right now.’

Just the short memory of being locked in this building was enough to make me hate this place so much. I didn’t even want to step on it. At this moment, I feel like it would be better to be held by a murderer.

Kwiik-Tak.

As I heard the sound of coming out the front door, I opened my eyes again. Dawn had not yet arrived on the street lined with dim gas lights. I breathed in the cool breeze from the street. The feeling of the moist night air filling my lungs felt very pleasant. Somehow I felt like I could walk now.

I tapped Luke on the shoulder.

“What is it?”

“Please get off now.”

“The carriage is far away. Because I didn’t know you’d come here…”

“I can walk.”

He nodded his head as if there was nothing he could do and carefully put me down. I put my foot on the floor. As I thought, my legs no longer felt shaky and my hands no longer sweated. I even had time to look at the sky between the tall buildings. As I looked at the autumn night sky with the moon floating between the white clouds, I felt relieved. I’ve been trapped here for less than a day, but it feels like it’s been a long time.

“Go back.”

Instead of answering, Luke narrowed his eyes and looked at my face as if he was thinking about something. I looked back at him in confusion.

‘You said it would be a good idea to get out of here quickly?’

“You want to go to where the carriage is?”

Luke looked at me for a long time, barely blinking his eyes, and belatedly nodded his head.

“…Of course.”

He tried to walk ahead but then looked back at me.

“Miss Green.”

“Yes?”

“This will be greatly rewarded.”

‘I thought maybe he would say it as if I owed him something, but he is a learned killer.’

I smiled happily and nodded. Just as we arrived at Rearmond Manor in the carriage with Luke, dawn began to break. Even though it was very early, the members of the Learmond family had heard the sound of the carriage and were rushing out to the front door. As soon as I got off the carriage, Mr. Blier, Amber, and all the other people surrounded me with expressions full of relief.

“Miss Arvice!”

“How did this all happen?”

“Are you okay?”

“Are you okay?”

I shook my head, smiling faintly at the pouring out of worry.

“I’m fine.”

Amber held me as if she was clinging to me.

“But you said you were kidnapped! Kidnapping… How did you come back? My God… Do you know how worried I was? Really… I was really worried. My God…”

I thought it was natural not to inform the police or people around me if there was a kidnapping or something like that, but that didn’t seem to be the case here.

‘Is it because the officers are so incompetent that they thought they wouldn’t be of any help anyway?’

I hugged Amber, lamenting the tragic situation. I felt sorry for someone who cared about me and cried for me, but I was grateful.

“I’m fine, really.”

“Nothing happened…?”

“Huh. Nothing happened.”

“I’m glad, I’m glad.”

After gently comforting Amber, Mr. Blier hugged me while reciting a prayer.

“Oh my god. The blessing of oblivion is equal for all. Thank you for your power.”

“Mr. Blier?”

“I’m so glad you came back safely.”

Although she spoke softly and calmly, I could hear genuine relief in her voice. Other than those two, other family members also squeezed my hand in turn, expressing their joy and relief. My heart was touched. It felt like a big pink cotton candy was blooming inside a space filled with sticky, unpleasant memories.

‘It’s so strange. I can’t believe I felt like I was back home. I guess I’ve become too friendly with everyone.’

In the meantime, Mr. Blier kept his cool and kept everyone from making too much of a fuss so that I could rest, and thanks to that, I was able to enter the front door before long. As I was going up to the room through the entrance, I saw Luna sleeping, wheezing, covered in a blanket on the sofa near the entrance.

“Oh my, why is he here…”

Before I knew it, Mr. Blier had come up behind me and smiled slightly.

“He insisted that I couldn’t sleep until I showed him the sketchbook. I tried to let him go up to his room and sleep, but he cried whenever I picked him up, so I just left him there.”

Now that I think about it, Luna’s fern-like hand held a sketchbook.

“Did you?”

Luna wasn’t the type of person to be that stubborn… I felt bad for not returning after promising to get tested. I thought Luna was so cute and she was sad, so I gently stroked her soft silver hair and covered her with a blanket.

“Mmm.”

Luna took the opportunity to open her hands for a moment while tossing and turning, and quickly pulled out her sketchbook. Although it was a very clumsy drawing, it was not difficult to recognize that it was me who had drawn it with an emerald crayon. It was also Luna’s uncle, Luke, who was depicted as a very handsome man even in her messy crayon drawing. It seemed to be a picture of Luna, Shine, Luke, and me together.

‘I just asked you to draw a house.’

It wasn’t homework that had any particular meaning. Since I kept pestering them to play hide and seek, I was just assigning homework one by one to the children who had trouble concentrating… I never thought I would draw a picture like this.

‘For Luna, is home a space where me, Luke, and Shine are together?’

After looking at the picture for a long time, I turned around and saw a small blonde head at the top of the stairs, then disappeared. I laughed a little to myself. Shine seemed to be worried about me too, so he couldn’t sleep until early in the morning. If she was still awake, she could have honestly come to me and welcomed me, but instead of doing that, it was somehow Shine-like that she was hesitant. I didn’t call Shine and just left it alone.

‘I’m glad you’re back. Come back here…’

I thought that as I put her sketchbook back in Luna’s arms and walked up the stairs.

‘If it were me when I just started DAY 1, I wouldn’t have been this happy to return to Rearmond Manor…’
