I'm a Supporting Role in a Horror Game, Don't Kill Me

CHAPTER 054

Sigh! Sigh!

A bizarre scream that could not be imagined as coming from a human rang out. The sound was so loud and strange that it gave me goosebumps all over my body.

‘…Is it over?

Drop, drop.

The next moment, black things flowed down to the floor from where Luke’s blade had landed. The masked man looked up at Luke and spoke bitterly.

“I don’t know how they found out about it, but it seems like they really care about it. If you see me running like this.”

He spoke in a very relaxed manner, but his voice was quite trembling compared to before, probably because he had been hit hard by Luke’s attack. Luke stepped on his foot and stomped harder on the kidnapper’s neck.

“Shut up.”

The man continued with a grin in a suppressed voice.

“Work has become fun. Luke came all the way here just because of a woman.”

Luke didn’t respond to that ridiculous statement. Instead, he raised his foot and hit his mask.

Bye!

With a loud sound, the thick mask was torn in two. The exposed cross section of the mask looked like pure white plaster and…

‘…darkness?’

Clearly, there was nothing underneath the mask where the face should have been. If I had to express it, there was a shadow. Even the figure that the sword was piercing sank to a mushy state in an instant. Now, what the black sword was piercing through was not a person, but only a black mask, clothes, and the planks on the floor. What was once a human being melted away in an instant. I covered his mouth in shock at the incomprehensible, horrifying sight, but Lakers, as if he had expected it, was not surprised and pulled out his sword and struck it on the floor once again. What looked like a black shadow seeping through the floor suddenly turned and quickly ran away through the gap in the window.

‘Anyway, I lived. I lived…’

I felt the strength drain from my stiff body and fell to the floor. As I saw the traces of the kidnapper, who had turned into a strange shadow, crossing the window, I thought for a moment that the shape resembled a spider.

“How…?”

What on earth is that? Just the sight of a fleeting image gave me goosebumps all over my body. Luke, who had been glaring at the window with sparkling eyes as if trying to chase after a shadow, suddenly turned to me at the sound of my voice. Ever since Luke arrived here, I had only seen the back of him or the pinna of his ear, but when I saw him in front, I took a deep breath.

Unlike their typical clean appearance, Luke had a ferocious face that was as stiff as I had ever seen and without any poise. She had buttoned so tightly, they were out of order, and his hair, which was normally perfectly parted and groomed, was tumbling down and covering her forehead. People are drawn to that appearance in a different way than they usually are. If Luke’s beauty is normally perfectly carved, does he now have a rather messy, depressing attractiveness? Occasionally I want to peek between the open collars of my shirt, and occasionally I want to glance at the flawlessly attractive forehead that is covered by my bangs.

“Are you okay?”

At the sound of his voice, I suddenly came to my senses, realizing what on earth I was appreciating in this situation.

“Yes-yes?”

Luke, who heard me say something stupid, frowned even more, which was already harsh.

“Is something bad going on?”

Luke immediately swung his right hand and removed his sword. It was a strange technique I had seen before, as he seemed to be pushing the sword into the sleeve of his left hand. He then approached me with hasty steps, bent his knees, lowered his body, and cupped my cheeks with both hands. Just as my cold, scared cheeks were, his hands were also strangely cold. Their eyes met very close together.

‘…why?’

I was a little surprised. Although his eyes were always beautiful, he always looked at people with a dry, contemplative gaze, like those of a statue. No matter how much the Lakers hid it with a smiling face, I could tell. But what can I say now?  I couldn’t see the dryness in his shaking eyes as he looked at me. Does it feel like the wall he was always surrounded by has been torn down? As if I was genuinely worried and didn’t know what to do.

“It was very smart to use the gun. I knew you dropped the petals, but if it weren’t for the gunshots, I wouldn’t have come this fast.”

The words he spoke quietly were quite unexpected. I opened my eyes wide. I wondered how on earth I found this place, but I couldn’t believe I had come so close that they found my location by gunshots. Just look at those common flower petals!

I shed it with the hope that it might happen, but I really didn’t think that someone would find me by seeing the flower petals that were everywhere. Luke and no one else.

‘How did they notice such a small clue? Have you been looking for me until almost dawn?’

I was blankly caught by the look in his eyes that was different from before, but Lakers looked around as if he couldn’t bear it because he was worried that I wasn’t answering, and then he pulled me into his arms.

“It’s okay. Everything is fine now. It must have been very scary, but I got through it well. You did everything well.”

‘No, what are you doing like soothing a child?’

As I half-heartedly raised my hand to say it was okay, I realized that my hand was still shaking.

‘…It was very scary. But I don’t want to be comforted by a murderer.’

However, as the scene of him saving me at a critical moment flashed before my eyes, I ended up not being able to face him or push him away, but just left his hand hanging limply and letting him do what he did. Moreover, if there had been any dark side to his touch, it would have been extremely unpleasant, but that wasn’t the case. Luke just hugged me lightly and patted my back. Maybe it’s because I’m his tutor… He was often seen hugging Shine and Luna, so it seemed like he was able to hug them so easily. I slowly closed my eyes and opened them as I felt his hands patting my back. I could see the boards covering the windows strewn on the floor. The planks wouldn’t budge no matter what I did. What on earth did I do? It felt strange to see traces of him urgently coming to save me. Luke’s pat on my back should have been unpleasant, but the strangest thing was that it didn’t feel that way. I felt awkward and irritated by the comfort I was feeling, and I opened my mouth as if pushed, wanting to somehow break this peaceful silence.

“Have you been looking for me?”

“That’s right.”

A calm voice answered right in my ear.

“I guess you heard the story from Shine?”

“That’s right.”

“Shine was very surprised, right?”

“It seemed like she did.”

“Do other people know that I was kidnapped?”

“Yes.”

He only answered in short answers, as if he was lost in thought. As I listened to his low, soft voice, I felt his heart calm down. If he wasn’t a murderer, I would have been impressed by him coming to save me.

‘When I watch movies or dramas, I often fall in love with the hero who comes to save me.’

Even if it’s not that bad, you can at least feel good about it.

‘Why am I in a situation where I have to hesitate to even thank the person who came to save me? Even the sky is really indifferent.’

If we only look at the face and body, there is no cast that suits the hero better than Luke. The problem is his job(?).

‘Is this person really a murderer?’

The suspicion I had had several times reared its head once again. I don’t know what’s going on anymore because of the presence of the person who kidnapped me.

I thought Luke was a murderer and people who kidnapped missing people and locked them in the basement, but is the person who has been kidnapping missing people the same person who kidnapped me? Then, who was the being in the basement who whispered for help?’

There were strangely obvious circumstances, and even as a player I was convinced that he was the killer, and I even heard noises coming from the basement…

Gulp.

When I thought about the existence of the basement, I started drooling with nervousness.

‘…Yes, the basement event is now open. So, if you look at that event… My thoughts on Luke will become more clear.’

I wanted to know more about the definitive evidence that Luke was the culprit, but I also didn’t want to know for some reason.

“Eww…”

As I moaned from his head full of confusion, Luke gently stroked my back, wondering what he was thinking. I frowned as my mind became more confused by that warm feeling. Being held by him in a space with only the two of us… It occurred to me once again that this was such a strange thing. Even every time he treated me gently, something felt even weirder. Now completely calm, I gently pushed him away with my hand, and Luke immediately released his arm. I tried to raise my inner alertness as much as possible, ignoring the proud face in front of me.

“Are you okay now?”

‘If you think about it, I don’t want to talk about it because it happened because of this kid, but…’

“…Still, thank you for coming. Thanks to you, I survived. Let’s get out of here now, shall we?”

It was only after Lakers heard the thank you that passed by like a rap in an instant that he stopped thinking about something and smiled slightly.

“Looks like you’re a bit green now.”

“Yes?”

“It means you seem to be okay. Okay, let’s go back.”

He nodded obediently, glanced at his window, and stood up.

I really like the story but she is quite an annoying oblivious moron, so far unable to drop an inch of her prejudice against the duke despite huge hints and clues.
I hope it won’t take too long before she changes her narrow-minded point of view (and thus see this whole investigation differently), otherwise it will quickly be boring.
