I'm a Supporting Role in a Horror Game, Don't Kill Me

CHAPTER 018

The system error message was a message I had never seen before, even though I thought I had become quite accustomed to the world of this game.

“Erasing memories… what is that?”

The moment the thought came out of my mouth without me even realizing it, Luke, who was wiping his face tiredly and trying to take the gun out of my hand, looked at me strangely. His sleek and handsome eyebrows were raised to the fullest level, and the gap between his eyebrows narrowed. As if the fact that I was holding the gun so tightly and not letting go of it was itself quite surprising. As if I had seen a living doll.

“Now… What did you say?”

“Yes?”

“Now… I asked what you said.”

I didn’t know why he pushed people so seriously. What did I say that was so great?

‘When I think back to Luke who tried to kill me and then tried to appease me, it may be difficult to understand them because they are not normal.’

While I was thinking about what to say that would less arouse the psychopath, he grabbed my shoulder, made eye contact, and asked again.

“Do you remember? What just happened.”

It was aesthetically pleasing to see his quite embarrassed face so close to my eyes, but psychologically it was breathtaking. I adjusted my grip on the gun, trying to calm my nervous, pounding heart.

“…I don’t know why you’re like this. Then I… Should I forget that I almost got killed by being picky?”

It may be a hasty conclusion to think that I can read the emotions in Luke’s gray eyes. However, I caught a glimpse of surprise, confusion, and then interest slowly seeping into his glass-like eyes, which were clearly filled with refreshing energy. After a long silence, Luke, who had been stiff, opened their mouth again, looking at me very persistently like a cat staring at its prey.

[Remember, delete.]

Afterwards, the same error message appeared once more. Luke looked into my eyes and, uncharacteristically, opened his mouth and made an embarrassed expression.

“…This really doesn’t seem to be working.”

‘What is he saying now?’

I somehow felt drained as I watched him start talking to himself, which was not even conducive to conversation. So I gave the gun to him as he kept trying to take it out of my grasp. However, my sweat-soaked hands were so tense that I couldn’t straighten my grip on the gun for a while. Luke took his gun, turned its handle toward me, and handed it back to me.

‘This is the second time.’

He gave me the gun back. After staring at his incomprehensible and humiliating hand and taking the gun, Luke slowly opened his mouth.

“This… I don’t know how to take it… Do you remember when I said that the green sheep was interesting?”

“…yes?”

“I guess I should take back that statement.”

It’s a nice sound to hear. He nodded to indicate that he could do as much as he wanted, but Luke added slowly.

“Just saying it’s interesting might not be enough.”

‘…What does he mean?’

Did I make a face like I chewed shit? Or did he even have a face of fear? He stared at me for a while, as if he found something interesting in my expression, and then tugged at the corner of his mouth. It was a smile that even revealed dimples that were barely visible during normal times. The killer’s bright smile was truly breathtakingly beautiful.

“It might be a clue.”

‘A clue?’

[Luke Rearmond’s favorability has increased.
Lv.3(1/396)]

And a notification window appeared,

[Likeability Event – Hide and Seek Open]

[Favorability Event – Circus Open]

[Favorability Event – Royal Banquet Open]

[Favorability Event – Hunting Open]

[Favorability Event – Luxury Boutique Opening]

Five notification windows popped up one after another. This was the first time so many event routes had been opened at once. I looked at Luke in surprise.

“…What is this?”

He watched me carefully and took a step back from the bookshelf, giving me space to move.
Then he stretched out his hand towards the sofa.

“Would you like to sit this way? Let’s talk.”

I looked at the gun in my hand and then at the spacious, old-fashioned living room. It’s too late to talk, and I really didn’t like being left alone with Luke who just tried to kill me, but I couldn’t help it.

“Great.”

I was so exhausted that my body and mind were tattered, so I buried myself on the sofa. Instead of calling someone, Luke brought two cups, a basket of ice, and a bottle of strong-looking alcohol from the minibar in the corner of the living room.

“It’s brandy. Your body will feel a little warmer.”

‘…I don’t like alcohol that much.’

However, I did not hesitate and took the drink poured in front of me. The orange liquid flowing shallowly inside the crystal glass smelled much sweeter than it looked. I saw Luke pouring alcohol into their mouths first, so I kept my share in my mouth. The pleasant scent of grapes wafted in my mouth. Perhaps because it had a good scent, it went down my throat easily even though it was an alcohol I had never tried before.

“It’s strong, but it’s worth eating.”

I placed the empty glass down in front of me, and he filled the glass with ice first, as if he was worried about me, and then poured as much brandy as his fingernails.

“So, what are we talking about?”

Luke narrowed his eyes and looked at me, then slowly opened his mouth.

“Miss Green, aren’t you here because you have something to tell me? “It must be a long way from here, Miss Green’s room.”

I was embarrassed and looked away.

‘How is it that even that killer’s hands are perfect?’

Luke’s hands were long and thick as they held a glass of ice-cold liquor. It’s a handsome hand that makes you sigh, as if you’ll never get tired of looking at it. When I angrily looked away from him and raised his head, he, who was still looking directly at me, spoke again.

“I think we both have questions. Let’s take turns asking each other. How is it?”

I narrowed my eyes at Luke’s offer. He may have noticed something in my sharp attitude, as I was wandering around his room at this time and it seemed to me that I was questioning him.

‘Well, even if that wasn’t the case, just seeing him just before gave me a lot of things to ask.’

However, giving me the opportunity to ask questions also means that he has many questions that he would like to hear honest answers from me. Depending on how you answer, the stable, high-paying job you’ve been able to get and your life may be at stake. I could feel his hands becoming lightly sweaty.

“Great. Are you saying we’re going to play a game of truth?”

“That is… What is it?”

“We ask each other questions, and the person who has trouble answering drinks. The penalty is to empty the glass cleanly.”

“Anything is fine. Miss Green can ask first.”

Luke looked at my glass filled with a pea-sized amount of alcohol and his glass filled with a crystal glass, but didn’t say anything. I asked first.

“…First of all, what I just saw.”

“Yes.”

“Now… Why are you treating me so well after trying to kill me? …I don’t know what it means.”

It’s not a good idea to ask a psychopath why he’s crazy. But if you don’t ask that, you never know when you might be exposed to death threats while you’re in this mansion. Luke shook his head as if anticipating my question.

“I guess I have to apologize first. I think you would be very surprised.”

“Yes, of course.”

“Thank you for your very firm response. If it wasn’t for that, I would have really killed you.”

‘Is that the attitude of someone who is apologizing now?’

When I glared at him in shock, Luke muttered lowly, showing a look of emptiness in their eyes that I had seen before.

“I can’t tell you about the crucial part due to circumstances, but… Let’s just say that he’s in a bit of a bad state because of what happened at Hunt Street.”

“Do you kill people when things are bad?”

“Well, it wasn’t just an attempt?”

‘If it hadn’t been an attempt, wouldn’t you have killed me?’

I was shocked and glared at him again, but Luke had a face I had never seen before. As if he was a puppy abandoned by his owner, as if he had nowhere to go. That facial expression, with the tips of the eyebrows drooping, was very uncharacteristic of him. I really hate this instinctive admiration for beauty.

‘Because she’s doing that with such a beautiful face, she really looks like a harmless victim with deep regret.’

I got annoyed and turned around.

“…Why did you go to Hunt Street?”

His expression returned. When I saw the shameless and carefree expression on my face as usual, I felt relieved and irritated with myself.

“Weren’t we asking one question at a time in turns?”

‘In the end, there was no proper answer to the topic.’

I nodded angrily. Unlike him, I have never committed a crime and have nothing to hide.

I asked him.

“What are you curious about?”

Luke was twirling the glass in his hand and suddenly opened his mouth with a serious expression.

“I’m asking just in case, you.”

“Yes?”

“Are you the criminal?”

‘What?’

It was so absurd that I was speechless for a moment.
