If You Want a Perfect Divorce

“Episode 5”

“However, I almost got hurt over such a trivial matter.”
“…I apologize.”
“Make sure to educate properly next time.”
“Yes, Mother…”
“How’s your health?”
She pretended to be affectionate, but Diana felt frightened and intimidated by her.
“I’m fine.”
“What does the physician say about the baby’s gender?”
“…They still can’t tell…”
“Tsk. Useless. Have you considered returning the diamond mine that Rixio gave you?”
It was from that day. Or perhaps, it was from the beginning.
Hisria, the former Duchess and Rixio’s mother, who never liked Diana, continued to torment her, especially as Rixio’s affection towards Diana grew stronger with the baby on the way.
Having relinquished the Yellow Diamond mine, a vital asset of the Ducal estate, jealousy intensified. Hisria was even inclined to demand the return of the mine, anticipating that Diana’s family would try to seize it once they learned about it. She insisted that she should manage it, suggesting that the baby’s name could be used to transfer ownership.
“Mother, Rixio gave me…”
“That’s why I should be the one managing it. Your relatives will undoubtedly try to take it away once they find out. So, it should be under my management. When the baby is born, we can transfer it under the baby’s name.”
“Mother, it doesn’t seem right to take something he gave…”
“…You’re speaking nonsense. You’ve never listened to me once. How impudent.”
Hisria sneered and angrily threw the curtains that the maids were selecting onto the floor.
“None of these are to my liking. Why bother choosing colors here? It should be decorated as a boy’s room.”
“But we don’t know if it’s a girl or a boy yet.”
“It better be a boy! A girl would be useless! Especially in the Ducal family, which must carry on noble bloodlines.”
Hisria glared at Diana with sharp eyes. How could she be so frustrating? Diana spat out all the words she had to say.
She was never liked from the start. She tried all sorts of tricks to get rid of her, but none worked. Hisria had clutched her fist and bit her lip.
“You’re so ill-mannered. Even though Rixio may fancy you now, that affection will soon fade.”
“But even if that happens, I have a child now.”
“So you’ll continue to defy me?”
Since having the baby, Hisria had almost completely taken over the role of mistress of the Ducal estate. Until she had the baby, Rixio didn’t say much. Instead, he believed Hisria’s words and led the Ducal estate accordingly.
But after marriage, Rixio changed, and it was especially evident after the baby was born.
“Mother…”
“…How long do you think you can be so defiant?”
Why does she hate me so much? What did I do so wrong? Diana couldn’t help but think that every time she saw Hisria. The distance between the two seemed impossible to bridge.
Then, as the maid who went out to see the carriage returned and whispered to Diana, Hisria’s maid also approached her and started whispering.
“Madam, the arrival of the carriage is nothing unusual.”
“Oh? Is that so?”
Diana felt relieved for a moment, but Hisria sneered and crossed her arms.

“Hedea.”
At that one word, Diana’s face stiffened.
“I thought I might need to explain further, but seems like you already know who Hedea is. The one who grew up with Rixio since childhood…”
Before she could finish her sentence, Diana began to run hastily.
“Madam, it’s dangerous to run!”
The maid who had come to investigate stopped her with a concerned expression on her face.
“Did you lie to me?”
“That’s…”
“Guide me! Guide me now!!”
“But that’s…”
Despite the maid shaking her head, Diana was resolute. Hisria followed her with a smirk, saying, “Guide her. A maid should never lie to her mistress.”
Their happy daily life shattered along with the rain. The rain that didn’t seem to match the season, that fell incessantly.
Just a little movement made her breathless. Her first child and her overly swollen belly made it difficult for her, especially since she was already so thin.
Yet, she ran.
Gasping for breath behind the worried maid, she ran.
Eventually, Diana stopped in front of the carriage that had made her so anxious. And there, she saw her husband embracing another woman and crying.
“Hedea. Hedea…”
Her legs trembled. Her husband was holding another woman, caressing her cheek, and even uttering a name she didn’t want to hear.
“She’s alive… How… I thought she was dead. So I didn’t look for her… But… But…”
“I am alive. Rixio. I am alive like this…”
She felt like vomiting. Watching the affectionate scene between the two, Diana, who had only been watching, trembled her lips and called out to him.
“Rixio…”
Is that woman your former lover?
Our child is about to be born, and you bring that woman here now?
Rixio’s head turned slowly. Surprised by Diana’s unexpected appearance, his lips trembled.
“Diana. Why are you here?”
With a face pale with sweat and terror, Diana only stammered with her lips.
And then she saw it.
A woman who looked just like herself, with silver hair reminiscent of starlight and eyes of deep golden hue. So similar to her that she could be mistaken for her sister.
“Is that woman Hedea…?”
After hesitating for a moment at Diana’s words, Rixio nodded as if he had made a decision.

“Yes, that’s right. I’ll stay here from now on. Now that I’ve become the Duke, I can protect Hedea.”
How could he say such hurtful words so casually? Diana trembled as she watched him speak without any regard for how it might hurt her.
“Why, why! I hate it. I hate it! How could you do this! How!”
“I’ll explain everything, Diana. Hedea has nowhere else to go. She’s unwanted everywhere. So we…”
“So, so you’re going to keep that woman here? Huh?”
“After all, you’re my wife. So…”
At that moment, Hisria interrupted their conversation.
“You just can’t let go of that child, can you?”
“Mother!”
“How foolish. Why are you embracing that woman like that? You’re not going to marry her, are you? Is she your lover?”
Mockingly, Hisria spoke again. To Diana, this situation felt like a distant dream.
“So, even after I kicked her out, she still came crawling back. No. After I killed her for my son’s sake, how did she come back to life?”
Rixio grabbed the woman’s shoulders in anger, leaving Diana speechless.
“Mother! Mother, she’s… Hedea…”
“Yes. If you’ve made up your mind to marry, you need to come to your senses. Where did this illegitimate child come from? And yet she returns?”
Looking at the speechless Rixio, Diana grabbed Hisria’s hand as if seeking support in her desperate situation.
“Mother… Is that woman really his former lover?”
“Yes. She’s Rixio’s well-known lover from childhood. The woman I opposed and kicked out. I thought I killed her, but how did she survive?”
Oh, even the sky is indifferent. Just when she thought she was loved and happy, she found out about his former lover. It was bitterly sad. It was bitterly unhappy. If only she had run away then. If only she had divorced him then.
Struggling to believe the unbelievable reality, Diana finally managed to take a step back.
She should have ordered that woman to leave, but her legs gave way, and Diana slipped before reaching Hedea.
“Oh… Oh…”
And then she fell. She felt something flowing downward.
“Madam…!”
“Diana!”
The voice in her ears sounded distant, and Diana lost consciousness.
