I Will Become the Queen of the Enemy Country

A Plausible Fairy Tale

Fraser’s confidence soared at that small interest.

“I also have a daughter named Iris Warton, not just Elise Wharton. As you know, she is a magician who is expected to be the next sage, and she is a beautiful child with high virtue and popularity, enough to be called the reincarnation of a goddess.”

“So?”

“My second daughter is infinitely inferior to His Highness Chase. It has been said from old times that a precious person should be next to a precious person. Wouldn’t my eldest daughter suit His Highness Chase better? It will elevate the name of Bedrokka.”

Lange stroked his chin. It was a tempting proposal.

He had heard a lot about the girl named Iris.

Even when he first put a marriage proposal into the Warton family, he had Iris in mind.

He got twisted up because the queen pushed Elise from the Warton family and said that the talented Iris would hold Chase into a drying barrel. But Chase seemed quite clever as he watched over time.

He didn’t look like he would be stupidly played by a woman now.

So Iris would have suited him better than the half-baked young lady who had no talent and whose mother was of low birth.

“But it doesn’t look good.”

Lange was half-convinced, but there was a hitch.

“What are you worried about?”

“From your eldest daughter’s point of view, it was a marriage proposal that was going back and forth with her younger sister. Do you think that’s okay?”

“I will make it no problem. After all, there has never been a public announcement about the relationship between Elise and His Highness Chase.”

“So you’re saying you can make it without any noise?”

Lange asked again.

The question of whether it could be done was like a command to do it. Fraser nodded.

“I don’t like people who are all talk. Finish it by the banquet. It would be nice if there was a nice story.”

“I am lacking, so I cannot fully understand your meaning. Will you tell me your intention?”

“It’s a story that your daughter desperately wanted my son. We need such a story to at least soothe my son’s shattered honor.”

At the mention of creating a fairy-tale-like love story between Iris and Chase, the corner of Fraser’s mouth twitched slightly.

She was a daughter who wouldn’t hurt even if it was placed in front of her eyes. She was a child who would raise the Warton family to the highest place.

In a golden carriage, it was a situation where she was driving the carriage herself, even if a flower path was laid for her and was being escorted.

‘It’s all because of Elise!’

Regret for Iris, irritation caused by humiliation received from Lange, all turned into anger towards Elise.

‘Damn woman!’

While pouring out harsh words inside, Fraser, who maintained a smile, nodded to Lange.

“I will build the most beautiful story.”

The marriage of Iris and Chase was decided.
****

“This doesn’t make sense! Why me? Why do I have to marry the person who was going to marry Elise!”

Iris screamed loudly. Fraser soothed Iris, explaining the circumstances that led to this.

“That person! He’s famous for receiving the queen’s hatred!”

Iris shouted regardless of who heard. Even though there was no party involved, Iris’s speech crossed the line.

‘Chase doesn’t even deserve to be called a person.’

Elise watched the excited Iris with an expressionless face. She saw a shimmering curtain appear and disappear in her field of vision.

It was a Silence Barrier. Iris had cast it at some point.

‘Well, that’s right. She wouldn’t speak recklessly in case the words leak out and harm her.’

Elise acknowledged Iris’s ability to freely use and utilize magic to her advantage.

“She has to take responsibility! Why do I have to take responsibility? Dad, go back and tell him now. I don’t want to marry His Highness Chase.”

Iris grabbed Fraser’s arm and shook it.

Iris was acting like a child, something she had never done even in her childhood.

“I’m sorry, Iris. Dad’s ability is just that. His Highness Chase isn’t bad as a husband. He’s a prince after all. I thought he was very stupid, but looking at what he’s doing these days, he seems to have some political power and looks competent.”

Elise chuckled inside. The reason Chase looked plausible was all thanks to her.

But no one knew that fact. Because Elise had thoroughly hidden behind to elevate Chase.

“But he’s just a prince. What I want is.”

Iris, who wasn’t completely naive, shut her mouth tightly.

She couldn’t outright say here that she wanted the queen’s position.

“I know. The place that suits you is the highest place. Don’t worry. Dad will try somehow. To do that, you have to marry into the royal family first, don’t you?”

“But I don’t want to, I said I don’t want to.”

Iris, known to the world as an elegant woman, cried and threw a tantrum like a child.

Elise watched her and got up from her seat.

The sound of dragging the chair focused people’s attention.

“I don’t seem to be needed in this story. I’ll get up now.”

Iris’s face was distorted with anger. Fraser clenched his fist.

Who’s to blame for this mess! He was about to throw a paperweight.

Regina opened the door at a good timing.

She quickly opened her mouth, looking at Iris’s messy face and Fraser, who was holding a heavy paperweight and breathing roughly.

“His Highness Chase is here.”

“Huh, His Highness Chase?”

Fraser barely held back his anger and put down the paperweight.

If it weren’t for Regina’s appearance, the paperweight would have flown towards Elise’s back.

“Take him to the reception room on the second floor. I’ll be there soon.”

“Well… He didn’t come to see the master, he came to see Miss Elise.”

The brows of the three people gathered in the room crumpled at the same time.

****

Chase was scolded terribly by Lange last night and heard a shocking order.

“Are you caught up in this scandal because you can’t handle one woman?”

“Elise wouldn’t have done that, Your Majesty. There must have been a misunderstanding. Misunderstanding Elise with someone else…”

“Misunderstanding or whatever, it’s not necessary. Marry Iris.”

It was literally like being struck by lightning while sleeping. Chase had been out of his mind for the past few days.

Not long after Elise said she wanted to break up, an unbelievable article came out.

Chase was not shaken by that article.

There was the way Elise had shown herself to him so far, her love wouldn’t change easily.

Elise, who had put everything down and helped him wholeheartedly. She was just tired.

If he pushed for engagement and marriage quickly, she would follow pretending she couldn’t win.

He believed so, but the situation went strangely.

He waited for the sun to rise. And as soon as the day broke, he came to find Elise.

He had to turn Elise’s heart around. Without her, he was like a bird without wings.

Chase was fiddling with a piece of paper with a poem containing his feelings.

Elise was happy even with a letter from him, so if he wrote a poem, she would definitely be moved.

At that thought, Chase’s restless heart calmed down a bit.

“Wait here, Regina. I’ll leave the door open.”

He heard Elise’s voice.

Chase didn’t want to show his anxious look, so he quickly sat on the sofa.

He was deliberately looking out the window when he heard the sound of a dress hem brushing.

“Your Highness, you came to see me.”

The calm voice was unbearably cruel.

Chase slowly turned his head and received Elise’s greeting.

“Yeah. Have you been well?”

He wanted to be indifferent, but it wasn’t easy because his heart was with her.

In the end, a tender tone popped out.

“Were you worried a lot because of the rumors? I’ll solve everything. Sit down for now. Let’s gradually clear up the misunderstandings that other people have. You don’t need to explain the rumors to me. I know well that you wouldn’t do that.”

Chase’s facial muscles trembled slightly. He was anxious.

‘Why is he like that. Anyone would think he truly loves me.’

Even though he’s just using her and will throw her away.

“Your Highness, I have something to say.”

“Feel free to speak.”

Chase forced a smile.

It was a fake smile he put on when he had to pretend to be kind, contrary to his feelings.

‘The situation is messed up and I’m the one who’s angry.’

Elise’s gaze cooled down. Everything was going her way, but Chase was the only one who was flustered.

If things went as she expected, Chase should have been delighted the moment he heard he was going to marry Iris.

He should have thrown a party here, not clinging to her.

“Elise, before we talk, will you accept my gift?”

Chase held out an envelope. Elise took the letter and put it aside.

“You can read it now.”

“I’ll read it later…”

“Now!”

Chase raised his voice abruptly.

When Elise looked at him in surprise, Chase faked a nice smile.

“Read it now.”

Chase was not a good-natured person.

His kind appearance was just a good-looking mask.

If things didn’t go his way, he would scream and break things. Sometimes he even beat people severely.

The aftermath would be Elise’s responsibility.

Elise read the letter not because she was scared of Chase, but because she didn’t want him to cause a fuss.

–A white flower blooming on an autumn hill.

She felt a sense of déjà vu from the first sentence.

–Even in the shaking wind.

Even in the shining sunlight.

My heart towards you is like the starlight in the sky.

As soon as she read the first line, Elise remembered where she had seen this poem.

‘It’s the poem he wrote for me before.’

It was a poem he gave instead of a gift on Elise’s 20th birthday. She cherished it and memorized it sweetly.

‘But it turned out he had his aide write it.’

There were some differences from the previous poem, but it was the same poem to anyone who saw it. Elise laughed.

“Do you like it? It’s my heart.”

Yes, your heart must be borrowed from somewhere. You probably don’t even have a single word to write in a poem.

Elise folded the letter and put it down.
