I Thought It Was a Common Transmigration

CHAPTER 123

“I’m so tired. Proclaiming my innocence and being branded a liar…”

“But now you want to live again?”

She was not sure if she was displeased with trying to die or whether she was displeased with wanting to live. It felt strange, but she answered steadily. Because she had to get a hot pot.

“Because Killian trusted me.”

“Killian… Yeah, Killian was the problem, always…”

“Lise…?”

It was really strange just now. It was a tone and statement so uncharacteristic of Lise that it gave her goosebumps.

“But what? You will be branded a liar and suspected of being a criminal.”

“Lis…!”

“So, just think about dying. You must die here today.”

What on earth did this mean? Why did Lise say such strange things?

No, why did she suddenly take the dagger out of her pocket and make such a fuss!

“Lise, why, why are you like this?”

As she was pulling back from the bars, Lise cut her arm with a dagger and screamed.

“Aaaah!”

Then she threw the dagger she was holding into the iron cage where she was.

‘Why are you giving me that when I ask for a hot pot?’

This situation did not feel real at all, so she just watched in a daze.

‘Am I still asleep? Is this a lucid dream?’

Rather, that was a more plausible guess. For the good and just Lise Sinclair to try to frame her so blatantly was like turning the world in the story of <House and Emissary> upside down. However, contrary to her vain hopes, Lise did not hesitate at all and began to play the victim.

“Come to your senses, Edith! Why are you doing this!”

“Oh, no, there…”

While she was stammering, not knowing what to say, Cliff, Killian, and several knights came in as if they had been waiting for it.

“What’s going on, Lise!”

Cliff, like the male protagonist, quickly wrapped his arms around Lise and asked. Then, he discovered the clothes that had been cut off by the knife and Lise’s forearm, which was lightly cut and bleeding. At that moment, she thought there was a spark in Cliff’s eyes.

“Eh, Edith suddenly tried to stab me. I was just trying to give her some warm water…”

Lise had tears in her eyes and looked like she had been greatly hurt. She was almost entranced by his incredible acting skills.

“I am… I’m not. I didn’t…”

She was just saying things that were stereotypical. At that time, Killian, who was watching this scene from the side, took the key from the knight who had the key to the prison, opened the door to the prison where she was being held, and came in. This was Killian, whom she missed so much, but she was worried that he would be disappointed in her, that the little favor he had for her would fade away. If she had known this would happen, it would have been better if she had just died…

Killian entered the prison and picked up the round dagger on the floor without even looking at her. He looked at it back and forth, had the knights guarding the prison touch it once, and then handed it to Cliff. Cliff took the dagger and gritted his teeth as he looked at her.

‘I know for sure that you want to stab me with that now.’

As she was just looking at him blankly with her mouth half-open, Killian came closer to her and grabbed her hand.

“Killian…?”

“It’s cold.”

Of course, couldn’t he see it when he came down here? Not only her hands but her entire body was frozen. She had that thought in mind, but she just shrugged it off. What more could she do?

“Brother, what about that dagger? Isn’t it too warm?”

“What?”

“I grabbed it and the blade and handle were all warm. More than human body temperature.”

“Come to think of it…”

“Edith’s hands are as cold as ice. If the hand that just held the dagger was this cold, how could the dagger be that warm?”

And before Cliff could refute that statement, Killian’s hand came inside her coat.

“Kil, Killian! What are you doing?”

She was so surprised that she screamed, but she was so weak that her voice didn’t come out loud.

“Even the clothes Edith is wearing have no insulating function at all, so her body… Too cold. That’s not the knife a person like this had.”

And Killian’s gaze turned to Lise.

“But if it was in the arms of Lise, who was holding the water bottle, it would be understandable that the sword was so warm, is not it?”

“Killian!”

This time, Lise screamed Killian’s name like a scream. But no one there responded to Lise’s cries. Even Cliff froze with shocked eyes.

“Edith, tell me. What happened?”

Killian gave her a chance to defend herself. She was so moved that she couldn’t breathe, but she took a deep breath and told only the facts.

“Lise… She said they came to deliver some warm water… When she asked me why I wanted to die earlier, she suddenly said that I had to die here… She took that dagger from her arms, cut her own arm, and threw it over the iron bars. And she screamed… You and Cliff came right away.”

“It’s a lie!”

Lise screamed again. Then Killian asked Lise with a dry gaze.

“Then can you explain what happened, Lise?”

“I came to hand Edith the hot pot, and Edith took out a dagger and attacked me…!”

“Then why is the dagger so warm? You can tell when you touch it, but the sword is too warm.”

“Well, that’s…”

“And there was one more important mistake, Lise.”

Killian had completely concluded that Lise was the culprit. That was a bit surprising, but after seeing Killian’s actions after receiving the dagger from Cliff again, she realized that he had realized that Lise was the culprit the moment he came down here.

“Look at this, Lise. Even if it were me, I wouldn’t be able to cut your arm that deep.”

As Killian stretched out his arm through the bars and waved, both Cliff and the knights standing next to him looked like ‘Ah!’ in realization. There were several rows of bars across the cage at about the height where Lise and she stood. It was difficult for her arms, which were wearing a winter coat and a winter fur cardigan, to slip through the gaps in the grid.

It was difficult for her to stretch out the hand holding the knife, so not only could Lise had been thrown back in that gap, but even if she had quickly extended her hand out, the gap between the bars was so narrow that she would have had to use only her wrist strength to move the knife. With that kind of force, it tore through several layers of winter clothing and even scarred her bare skin? That was absolutely nonsense.

‘It was a critical mistake to cut her arm with too much force to make it bleed.’

She admired Killian for seeing the truth in unexpected places. Caught off guard, Lise opened her mouth, and Cliff looked embarrassed. And Killian asked her again with a cold look on his face.

“Lise, why did you try to frame Edith?”

But Lise insisted, shedding tears.

“Why don’t you believe me? Edith was obviously trying to kill me?”

“If you feel wronged, explain what happened so that we can understand, Lise. At least Edith tried to prove that it wasn’t her fault every time something happened at the mansion! Shouldn’t you put in the same amount of effort?”

At those words, it felt like a thumping sound came from her chest, not from Lise.

‘That… You remembered everything, Killian.’

She was so happy and grateful that her body was shaking. But Killian fiercely pushed Lise as if he was angrier than she was.

“Edith has endured such injustice all this time! While our stupid Ludwig family, including me, protected you like glass that could break at any moment, Edith has endured this whole time without even being able to say she was in pain!”

“Killian, Lise is scared, so be quiet…!”

“Same goes for you, brother!”

Killian’s arrow quickly headed towards Cliff.

“You didn’t even take a good look at Wellesley’s villa, and you just accused Edith of cooperating with Shane! If Edith hadn’t untied the rope herself and escaped, she could have frozen to death or lost the use of her limbs!”

“That…  was wrong.”

“What was so urgent that you didn’t even have time to search the basement? It was because of Lise, right?”

Even though Killian shot back sarcastically, Cliff was unable to respond. Because it must have been true.

“Brother, do you know what? When Lise is involved, you become a bit of an idiot. In other matters, it doesn’t matter, but if the price for my brother’s foolish behavior is the death of my woman… You must be prepared to turn me into your enemy. Or am I easy?”

Killian was clenching his fists so hard that his bones were turning white and shaking. Killian’s words made her feel relieved, but she felt like she had to stop him. He said that as the winter gets colder, he has to be careful about his blood pressure rising.

“Killian… Stop it now.”

As she carefully held his hand, his watery gaze fell on her. His eyes, which were as gray as a cloudy winter sky, were filled with a mixture of emotions, but she noticed that he was feeling the greatest sense of self-reproach.

“Edith… What should I do? Don’t stop me, but rather act evil. Please, do me a favor!”

It was something she was thankful for. But in this place, everything she wanted has come true. She was cleared of wrongdoing for something she didn’t do. It was also because of Killian, who was anxious that his heart might leave her. The knights were also witnesses to all of this, so Lise and Cliff would not be able to distort the incident. And she found out who the main character who had been driving her as a villain all this time was. It’s a bit funny that she was literally the main character.

I love how Lise instantly lost as soon as her power was gone, it just proves once more that she is totally dumb, she was only living her perfect life and defeating the other Edith’s because she was cheating with her mind control shit. Not even this bastard Cliff will be able to save you now 😼

  9. Sofia says:

  12. Kari says:

Excellent! Ah! ah!

  13. Solan says:

  16. Vac700r says:

Some people really love thinking they are very special while also love feeling like a fragile victim that others should protect.

12 cycles of playing a main characters were not even enough. Was her character really got abused before the Duchy adopted her? I can’t imagine willing endure abuse from childhood to mid-teen just to get the 5 great years at the Duchy before the story ends when Edith die.

  17. A says:

I so so love Killian here!
