I Thought It Was a Common Transmigration

Adolescent girls’ emotions ran through her several times a day. It was a law to be very happy for a small occasion, but also to be greatly sad. But at the time, she wasn’t in a relaxed situation to the point of being swayed by small triggers.

“Ah, leukemia! Mr. Hai, there is no money in the house, but the kid got a strange disease.”

The day she went home after being diagnosed with leukemia, her dad got annoyed by talking to someone on the phone, and he was in front of her too. She was suffering from inexplicable headaches and dizziness. She went to the infirmary because her head hurted, and the nurse told her to go to the hospital, so she found out it was leukemia. Her whole body hurted, but her mom and dad only sighed deeply while frowning, and it didn’t ease the fear and anxiety she felt.

Feeling like a sinner, she was quietly hospitalized, fighting the disease, and receiving her brother’s bone marrow transplant. She was depressed and sad all the time. To be honest, she didn’t know how many times she had wished she were dead.

She wasn’t happy when she found out that her brother’s marrow matched hers.

“Oh no! That’s fucking sick!”

“He’s your sister anyway. What will you do?”

“Ah, just say it’s over!”

“Ha… Soo-chan, just do this and I’ll buy you the laptop or whatever you wanted…”

“…really? Is it real?”

“Really, really.”

Even though he was by her side, her brother’s voice telling her to just die would come to life in a corner of her head every time she saw him. After a bone marrow transplant traded for a gaming laptop and several treatments, there was no one by her side as she was exhausted.

Her parents were standing next to her older brother who donated bone marrow, complimenting him on how wonderful he was and how good he worked, and she was lying alone looking at the white ceiling. She was so sad and depressed that she burst into tears, and at that moment she thought she was crying to get her parents’ attention.

‘It’s all useless anyway, so why are you crying?’

Even when she cried, they didn’t look back at her. She was lucky if she didn’t get scolded for being salty. After realizing that, even if she felt depressed, she felt that the feeling itself was useless, so she was able to get out of it quickly. The realization of that previous life was still useful now.

‘This is no time to be depressed. It’s dangerous to trust only Killian in a situation where you don’t know whether he will give his heart to me or not.’

In the meantime, she had been working hard to get the favor of the extras, and thanks to that, the number of servants pretending to know her had increased, but she needed to make more practical preparations.

‘Money! I need to raise more money!’

She still had only nine million senas in her coffers at the Central Bank of Malen. It wasn’t a small amount of money by the standards of the common people in this world, but it was far from enough to prepare for an unknown future.

She jumped up and started pulling out the jewels she had at her disposal.

‘Sell everything I took off the dress, and the accessories I brought to the wedding… Well, let’s sell everything that’s not to my taste.’

She searched all the drawers and accessory cases to find something to sell, but there weren’t as many jewelry to sell as she thought. The large stones that adorned the dress were colored minerals that looked like rubies or sapphires, and although they were jewelry, they did not command much money.

‘Let’s even sell dresses I don’t wear!’

Aristocratic dresses were also expensive. She wondered if someone would buy a dress that she wore once or twice, but the used dress market seemed to be booming as there were people who never wore a dress once or twice. Among the dresses she brought with her when she got married, she sorted out the flashy and erotic dresses that she had left in fear that they would look weird if they were repaired.

Well, it was only three suits.

“Anna! Could you please visit the dress buyer?”

“All right.”

It was good that Anna didn’t ask. Because she didn’t have to rush into making up nonsense reasons. Anna, the example of the capable maid, brought one of her persons later that afternoon. She seemed to be the owner of a pretty popular dress shop on Le Belle Marie Street. After exchanging brief greetings, she brought out the three dresses she had removed beforehand in front of him.

“I want to sell these three suits.”

“Oh, it is in very good condition. How many times have you worn it?”

“I’ve probably worn this one once, the other two never.”

“Yes? Selling a new dress second-hand? Wear it at least once and sell it. Even if it is brand new, when I buy it, it is unconditionally used, isn’t it too much of a waste?”

He seemed to have a conscience for a merchant.

“Not worth it. It’s a pity, but… I don’t want to wear any more dresses that could damage the dignity of the Ludwig family.”

“They can’t hurt its dignity. These dresses must look very good on you. These days, this level of exposure is nothing.”

She knew. Those were dresses that would be absolutely beautiful if she wore them. Wasn’t this a design that must have been chosen after careful consideration to make Edith stand out the most in the family of Count Rigelhoff? It was a bit of a problem how she tried to stand out but the result would be beautiful anyway.

“Thank you for saying that, but I probably won’t wear it in the future. So, I want to sell it before it goes out of fashion.”

“If you have to, I understand. So this dress is 300,000 sena, this… I’ll give you 400,000 sena, and this one 180,000 sena.”

Dresses that were likely to be close to a million sena at the time of production were down to less than half price.

“Can’t you give me a little more? No matter how used, these are like new…”

“Actually, I would like to do that too, but there are few people who can wear a dress with such an unconventional design, so it is difficult to sell it…”

After listening to him, she understood what the merchant was saying. Not many people could wear a design like this. Unfortunately, she accepted his offer and disposed of the dress.

The next day, she took Anna to the jewelry store on Darsus Street. This time, she went straight to <Amabile> without comparing several places. It was because she had dealt with them before, so she thought they would give her a better price. But when the jewelry store owner took a closer look at the jewels she had taken, she was nervous inside.

“Um… I will give you 10,000 sena for each diamond bead. Topaz is 30,000 sena, tourmaline is 50,000 sena, and garnet is 30,000 sena…”

With a serious face, he calmly sorted the jewels and counted while flicking the abacus. Apparently, the price of semi-precious stones has dropped a lot even if the eggs are large. The diamond beads that she had left just in case got a good price. She was a little disappointed, but the jewelry store owner’s voice brightened slightly as he checked the accessories she had brought.

“It is a good emerald. Hmm… At this rate, I think we can buy it for 3 million Sena.”

A necklace made of emeralds and diamonds that was too flashy was 3 million Sena, a ruby earring so splendid that it hurt the eyes was 1.5 million Sena, and a bracelet with diamonds and semi-precious stones was 1.8 million Sena.

“Then do it all… It must be 6.91 million sena.”

He turned the bill over to her and showed it to her. She bargained a bit more, but the jewelry store owner repeated that it was difficult to do more than that.

“Okay. Dispose of it like that.”

“Thank you for coming with good things every time.”

The shopkeeper put on the jewels with a satisfied look on his face and handed her the cash right away. A total of 7.79 million Sena was earned from selling the dress and jewelry.

‘Even if I add all the money in the safe, it will be 16.79 million sena… It’s not enough.’

It wasn’t enough to run away and live, and even if she tried to bribe the people around her, it wasn’t enough money. She didn’t know if she could escape the flow of the story or not, but she needed a lot more money to try anything.

‘Even if I’m the daughter-in-law of a powerful man, as a woman I cannot hold a lot of money.’

Of course, she was grateful that she didn’t possess a poor commoner, but it was a bit bitter that she didn’t have as much money as she had hoped. But when she got home and was resting, Killian came to visit her. Looking at the fine wrinkles between his eyebrows, it seemed like he had come to nag.

“Killian. I’m a bit tired right now…”

“What are you up to?”

“What?”

“I heard that you sold the jewelry and the dresses.”

“Ah…”

That was fast. Anna’s mouth was also controlled, and she secretly called people, but it entered Killian’s ears less than a day later. Well, it’s probably because he might have put a guard around her.

“I just disposed of useless things.”

“Haven’t you thought about how it would look in the eyes of others if you sold off your things, even if they were worthless?”

Oh, did that happen again? Killian seemed to think she had cut the face of the Ludwigs.

But she couldn’t help it.

“Sorry. I hadn’t even thought about that. I didn’t have the cash to spend, so I only sold useless things…”

“No cash?”

“Yes.”

Killian had a puzzled expression.

“Don’t you have money coming out every month?”

“What? I’ve never heard of that.”

“No, definitely when we got married… ah!”

Killian, who was about to explain something, suddenly put his hand on his forehead.

“This… sorry. I should have set your deposit, but I seem to have forgotten.”

“What?”

Was he saying he didn’t give her the money he should have given her?

‘Oh my, my blood pressure rises! Killian, you idiot! There is nothing else to forget! I thought you were a smart guy…!’

“I’m really sorry. I will give you everything that I have not been able to give you until now.”

…Well, Killian became a person again in her eyes after saying that. And she quickly regained her peace of mind.

This chapter made me a bit angry.

Choi Soo-na family is rellay too much…

At the worst time in a girl’s life, her parents think only of their son, as if their daughter were some sort of burden.
With the roles reversed, the parents would have torn their hair out in grief and they wouldn’t have wasted time haggling with their daughter for a marrow transplant, they would have imposed it on her as a good sister’s “duty”.
Honestly, that the son they adore so much turned into a gambling addict and a murderer is the perfect punishment for these parents.

However, I have to admit that it is “thanks” to these shameful parents that our Edith has become a strong, independent woman and that she doesn’t have to rely on anyone.

    Go girl!

thank you so much for the chapter! ❤️

  3. Princess says:

Smh no matter how much you hated your wife in the beginning if you planned to neglect her as a human being from the beginning at least have a conscience to give her the amount deserved to at least survive.

    1. Zeel says:

Ikr. It’s disgusting. I don’t blame any of the previous Edith’s for turning into a villain

  4. Gabimaru says:

She really suffered a lot, she’s so brave and strong, I really admire her way of dealing such painful events. Thank you so much author.

  5. Zeel says:

Killian’s disappointing again. But ig nothing will be stable unless author loses all control. Still, for only 30% control, Killian’s still not on her side enough. My girl has suffered WAY too much. J actually want to see an arc where he runs away, cuts her hair and lives peacefully in a village for a few years, finally doing things she might like. And him being sad and depressed alone. It’s really the only way I can see him make up for all this.

    1. AinzGown says:

seriously.. smh I’m wishing her tranquility

  6. N124 says:

How much I wish it was possible to just “decide not to be depressed”… Yes it’s possible to fight your way out but it’s not like flipping a switch, and it’s certainly not security every time. 🙁

  7. nashiralibrae says:

She’s very strong. Being depressed while keeping to be sane and rational. I really love her!

  8. The Auntie says:

Hahaha that’s what it takes to become a person again – give wife her allowance 😆
