CHAPTER 1: This Is the Rumored Reincarnation of a Nobilis Nefarious
Isekai Reincarnation.
It is a well-known genre of novels and anime that almost everyone is familiar with these days. I will not delve too deeply into it, but the usual premise involves the protagonist dying for some reason and then being reborn in a medieval European-style world filled with magic and sorcery, embarking on various adventures.
Lately, there has been a surge in “nobilis nefarious” stories, where the protagonist is reborn as the antagonist in a game or novel and strives to escape their predestined demise.
To be honest, I am a huge fan of Isekai reincarnation stories myself, and I have devoured numerous tales featuring “nobilis nefarious” characters.
…So, why am I suddenly bringing this up?
Well, to put it bluntly, it is because—I have now become such a character myself.

“This… is Friedrich, right?”
I murmured in a daze, dumbfounded as I gazed upon my reflection in the mirror.
The reflection of a young boy, strikingly different from the average Japanese visage I had known.
Silver hair, crimson eyes, and horns resembling those of a devil protruding forth from his temples.
His features were undeniably handsome, yet they exuded an aura of evil, as if he were the very embodiment of villainy.
And then it hit me—I recognized that face!
It was the face of Friedrich Rigl Asmodai, an easily identifiable nobilis nefarius who was a mid-level boss in an RPG game called “Apostle of Arinatia.”
In the game, he relished in his status of Nobilis, looked down on the Hero, a pleb, ocassionally resorted to violence, and even attempted to seduce the Heroine, who had grown close to the Hero. No matter how you look at him, he was undoubtedly a despicable character through and through.
“Perchance, did I become Friedrich…!?”
“Reincarnated into another world.”—These words came to my mind.
It was a genre I had relished in light novels and anime, but I never imagined I would find myself entangled in it.
“Does that mean I… died?”, I pondered aloud,
In the world of Isekai, it is common knowledge that the protagonist usually met their end in the real world before being reincarnated into this world.
If that held true, it indicated that I must have died as an ordinary salaryman in the real world.
“Being a middle manager… was tough, huh…” I mumbled, feeling a sense of distance as I stared at Friedrich’s reflection in the mirror.
Holding the position of a section chief might have sounded impressive, but in reality, all I did was train subordinates and cater to the unreasonable demands of superiors.
I used to brush it off with a laugh, joking it would not be surprising if I collapsed from stress at any moment, but to think I would end up dying—well, that was inconceivable!
“Well, for now, I need to think about the situation at hand”, I resolved.
It would be a lie to say that I am not shocked by the fact that I died, but I have been reincarnated as Friedrich.
According to the mise-en-scène for “Apostle of Arinatia”, this place is the “Cadonik Magic Academe” located in the neutral country of Hora Kingdom.
It was where the protagonists studied magic, battled against a secret society conspiring to resurrect the Demon God, and eventually get involved in a great war that engulfs the entire continent.
Other than the species called Humans in the real world, here in this world of fantasy, species such as Beastmen, Demons (among which Friedrich belonged), and Fairies (such as elves) also existed.
Furthermore, the leader of the secret society conspiring to resurrect the Demon God, the last boss of this game, is none other than Friedrich’s father, Marquis Asmodai.
In other words, along with being a nobilis nefarius, I have been reincarnated as the son of the ultimate adversary in the story.
“Is not the difficulty too high?”
I could not help but droop my head.
In the middle phase of the game, during the graduation exam at the Cadonik Magic Academe, the Hero battles against Friedrich. It is a pivotal moment, and a game-over awaits if I happen to lose this battle. Naturally, in line with the plot, Friedrich is destined to lose. However, due to losing at the hands of a pleb, Marquis Asmodai becomes disappointed in Friedrich, brainwashes and instigates him to embark upon a rampage and attack the hero and their allies.
At this juncture, Friedrich no longer has any sense of self, and due to being treated as a lost cause by his own father, he displays a mien—so wretched! Yet, due to his prior wrongdoings, players do not extend any sympathy to him.
“What can I do… what can I do to escape such a fate?” I muttered, feeling the weight of the impending doom that awaited Friedrich.
The turning point for Friedrich’s tragic downfall is likely his defeat against the Hero during the graduation exam. From the perspective of the Marquis of Asmodai, who held aristocratic blood in high regard and considered plebs as completely beneath him, it was inconceivable that his own son had been bested by such an individual. As a result, he grew deeply disappointed in Friedrich and treated him like a lost cause.
In other words, what I need to do is…
“Win against the Hero at the graduation exam…!”
There is no other way.
The Hero possesses some of the highest parameters in the game, but now is not the time to dwell on that.
“This Friedrich… Is he not rather young?”
The image of Friedrich in the mirror appeared surprisingly younger than I remembered.
That implied that it was still a few years before the commencement of the game, before enrolling in the Cadonik Magic Academe.
“I have decided.”, I declared with determination,
“From this point on, I will work tirelessly, and I will definitely conquer that Hero!”
Getting brainwashed by my own father and losing my sense of self…
I absolutely refuse to let myself succumb to my father’s brainwashing, lose my sense of self, and ultimately meet a gruesome end, my magic spiraling out of control as I cough up blood.
Before entering the Academe, I will put in maximum effort into acquiring enough power to surpass the hero!
… Besides, since I have been reincarnated into another world, I aspire to become the strongest character of them all.
