I Ran Away With Obsessive Male Lead's Child

IRAWOMLC

Chapter 24

His eyes, still filled with suspicion, swiftly scanned her.

Towards Arden, who couldn’t let go of his doubts, Leticia spoke with a calm smile.

“I’ll put you to sleep. You seem very tired.”

Softening his guard. Concealing her true feelings, she whispered while looking into his eyes.

“…Why?”

Arden tilted his head slightly and asked.

“Because I love you, despite everything.”

Leticia deceived him with a lie filled with sincerity.

Knowing that he desired her, she willingly pretended to love him even more to bring him greater despair.

Arden chuckled at her words. He almost fell for the sweet words that came from her red lips. Perhaps his request to send the others away was to cloud his judgment.

Unfortunately, Leticia seemed oblivious.

She didn’t seem to realize how clumsy she was with lies. He reached out, threading his fingers through her silky hair. Strands of hair slipped through his spread fingers.

“Leticia.”

Arden affectionately acted as if he had fallen for her deception.

How could he reassure and hold onto her while she was rolling her head?

He pushed the back of her head towards him with the hand deeply buried in her hair.

“You really can’t lie.”

Yet Arden was willing to indulge her as she desired. To understand what she was thinking, he had to let things go as she wanted.

Every time Leticia behaved like someone else, curiosity surged within Arden.

When would she be able to honestly confide in him?

Perhaps he was wrong this time in this lifetime. It seemed like she firmly held resentment towards him.

She was always by his side, but that was all there was to it.

Leticia had never truly been his.

She had never spoken of her desires, never made demands of him, only watched from afar, as if everything would be fine as long as she found her missing mother.

Her eyes, filled with pity, her willingness to embrace him as if she were ready to be held at any moment, all of it didn’t sit well with him.

Arden pulled her close with a casual expression. Then he gave her the answer she wanted.

And she, in turn, gave him the answer he desired.

“So be it.”

With those words, Leticia smiled widely and nodded her head.

As soon as they left the audience chamber, Leticia leaned against the wall and took a deep breath.

Her head was spinning and she felt dizzy. Come to think of it, the court physician had insisted that if she wasn’t feeling well, she should call for him.

Due to her increased sensitivity from worrying about many things, she wasn’t feeling well.

As they exited the chamber, Shin Yejang, who had been waiting for her, approached immediately.

“If you had told me in advance, Mary wouldn’t have died in vain.”

At Leticia’s words, Shin Yejang lowered her eyes.

Leticia didn’t miss a single tremor as she glanced at Shin Yejang with a cold gaze. Her hands, previously folded, turned pale.

“Lucky for you. You’re the lady-in-waiting of the Queen’s Palace. You better serve by my side from now on. Shouldn’t you fill in Mary’s place since she’s dead?”

She passed by Serena with a low laugh. She would slowly wear her down with guilt, leaving her to wither away.

“If you don’t like it, why don’t you run to the audience chamber now and kneel and beg? Your master is His Majesty the King, after all. He’ll surely save you from me.”

“Your Majesty, I have only been faithful to the tasks given to me.”

“That’s what I’m telling you. Be faithful to those tasks.”

Leticia took the lead, followed by the maids and knights behind her.

As she walked down the corridor with her head held high, there was no sign of her dizziness improving.

She tightly gripped the hem of her dress, fighting to keep herself upright.

She couldn’t afford to collapse in front of everyone. If she appeared weak, she would become prey once again.

“If you need to move your belongings since we’ll be sharing a room from now on.”

“If you tell me what items you need, I will make a list and have them moved.”

Leticia nodded at the lady’s words.

Her steps towards the room were graceful yet determined. Those unaware of what had happened in the audience chamber glanced at her with curiosity.

‘Perhaps it’s because I’m finally relieved, that’s why I’m feeling unwell.’

Her long shadow stretching along the corridor seemed to weigh down on her ankles, making her body feel heavier.

Leticia maintained a blank expression, but she couldn’t hide the cold sweat forming on her forehead.

Just a little further and she’d reach the bedroom.

She bit her lip and clenched her fist to regain her composure. The sharp pain from her nails digging into her palm reminded her to stay focused.

A little more. A little harder.

As she pressed harder, her mind snapped back into focus.

With a forced calm expression, she reached the bedroom door and gestured to Ruena.

“Ruena, stay, and let the others leave.”

“But…”

“They’ll be standing guard outside anyway. What’s there to worry about?”

At Leticia’s words, the lady stepped back. It was a calm tone, but a clear warning not to overstep.

Reluctantly, the lady left the room with the others.

“Why… Your Majesty, why are you…”

Ruena’s face was tense with anxiety. Seeing her trembling, Leticia glanced at the closed door and brought her finger to her lips.

“Shh.”

“…”

“Just listen. It’s not a difficult task. Just call one person over.”

“…”

Ruena was smarter than she appeared.

Without answering, she nodded silently, waiting for Leticia’s response.

“Just call for the court physician, Verotin. If anyone asks, say it’s just a minor cold.”

“…”

루에나 nodded.

Leticia felt like something was wrong with her body.

She hadn’t been feeling well for a while, but this was different. She felt cold and feverish, as if she had caught a bad cold.

Calling for the court physician would have been enough, but what she asked Ruena to do was to prevent more maids from coming in.

Leticia sat on the bed and took out a handkerchief to wipe away the sweat.

She couldn’t tell if it was because she hadn’t eaten anything and felt sick, or if it was because of the fake pleasantries she had to endure in front of him, but her stomach felt weak.

“I think I need to lie down for a while. Just let the physician in and then you can leave.”

Ruena’s eyes shook with uncertainty.

Leaving her alone seemed to bother her.

Following her instructions meant understanding their relationship had come to an end.

To get what she wanted, she had to give the other what they wanted. And Leticia knew what Ruena wanted.

She smiled kindly and met her gaze.

Desire was clearly evident in her purple eyes. Dealing with such a person was easier. Once you gave them what they wanted, they behaved obediently.
