I Played the Role of the Adopted Daughter Too Well

CHAPTER 155

Trembling, the man knelt down. His mind had turned to static.

“Please, just let me live.”

She was scary and frightening. The woman was truly the god of this space and wherever the god’s finger pointed, a fountain of blood rose without fail. Anyone who met her eyes fell down on the spot, urinating.

“Have you ever pardoned someone who asked to live?”

Medea did not offer them forgiveness. Their bodies already had a strong smell of blood as not a single one of them hadn’t committed murder. A few of the courageous ones cursed at the woman.

“Are you so innocent? Have you never committed injustice in your life?”

“What right do you have to punish us?”

Medea did not try to persuade them or explain with logic. Their heads simply rolled off of their necks, their last words fearful swearing.

“I never said I would punish your crimes.”

The man who had been taunting Medea, who had promised to entertain her with his brother, trembled as he clung to the wall.

“Th-then why are you doing this to us?”

“You spent the time I gave you.”

“W-what?!”

What kind of reason was that?! He wanted to shout, but he couldn’t. This woman was the one who ruled with overwhelming power, and he couldn’t resist a god.

“I, I’ll do anything if you spare me.”

“…”

Medea did not spare him. In less than 3 minutes, she cut down every living and breathing person here. Medea, who had just committed a terrible tragedy, slowly walked over and sat down at a table.

“How long are you going to just watch, Gaia?”

Across the table from where Medea was sitting, someone began to appear in a chair that had previously been empty.

“It’s been a while, Princess Medea.”

“You managed to recognize me.”

“You can change the face, but you can’t change the spirit. There aren’t many people in the world who can do this, so even though I’m the leader of the Night Cat, it’s ridiculous that they didn’t recognize you.”

Silence flowed between the two.

“I taught you how to summon me… but I never thought you would actually do it.”

“Didn’t you tell me to do it?”

“But this is the middle of Centa Street, a famous entertainment district in the imperial capital.”

The middle of the Monarch Empire’s capital. A place where murder was strictly prohibited and no crime was tolerated. Furthermore, Centa Street was also a place where guards and knights patrolled in real-time. And yet, Medea committed this action here.

“There must be knights patrolling outside, but I don’t sense any of them.”

“You seem much stronger than when I saw you at the Sanctuary of Ancient Warriors.”

Gaia had first met Medea at the ‘Sanctuary of Ancient Warriors.’ Gaia’s life goal was to create the best intelligence organization on the continent. In the beginning, she had no other informant, thus having to run around by herself. One day, she went to the ‘Sanctuary of Ancient Warriors’ which was surrounded by a veil. At that time, Gaia almost died, and Medea was the one who saved her life. That’s where their relationship began.

“The princess was enchanting back then, but she’s even more beautiful today.”

Gaia eventually became the head of the ‘Night Cat,’ the best intelligence organization on the continent. This place was one of the main bases of the ‘Night Cat.’

Gaia looked around, exclaiming, “That’s really neat work!”

There was not a single mistake. Every time Medea moved, at least one life was lost without fail.

“They deserved to die, so you don’t have to feel guilty.”

She pointed at a headless corpse with her finger.

“That guy killed a child last night…”

Gaia glanced at the body and smirked. It seemed like there was no need to explain further.

“You don’t seem to have a guilty conscience in the first place. Would you like a beer?”

“I would like to be treated more seriously in a more private place.”

“Of course.”

Their conversation seemed peaceful. It was a conversation that did not fit with this cruel scene.

“I will clean up this place. Gaia, the Night Cat, welcomes you.”

The chair Medea was sitting on began to move on its own. It moved like an elevator, a product of an ancient magic civilization. The two ladies headed underground, where another world unfolded.

“It’s much bigger than I thought. I’m surprised you haven’t gotten caught.”

“Minister Celine half-deliberately turns a blind eye to us.”

“Is that so?”

“Yes, we’re a group that she needs. We’re a necessary evil, you know.”

A lot of people were coming and going. Each person was wearing a cat mask and they were busy with their own tasks. They didn’t seem to pay much attention to Gaia and Medea.

“This is my office.”

“It’s simple.”

An old desk and a bookshelf full of books. It was a small room with a fluffy red carpet and a nice-smelling incense stick burning. A black cat was yawning listlessly. Medea and Gaia sat facing each other. The black cat with its tail raised swayed between them.

“What are you so curious about that you called me?”

Gaia’s eyes sank deeply and her gaze did not leave Medea. Every word that came out of Medea’s mouth would be important information. Important information was an asset of infinite value, and this table where a cat paced to and fro would become the most valuable table in the empire.

“The reason I came here is…”

After hearing all of Medea’s words, Gaia tilted her head.

“As we are the secret organization Night Cat, I am aware of the dark wizards’ organization Death. However, it is not on a scale that would interest Princess Medea much.”

“My younger sibling is interested.”

“If it’s a younger sibling…”

Medea had many younger siblings. However, Medea was only interested in one younger sibling.

“You mean Viola, the Iron-Blooded Princess?”

“Yes, that child is learning about Fever and Death.”

“What is the reason?”

“Well…”

Medea didn’t know the exact reason either.

“The reason probably doesn’t matter.”

To Viola, Medea was a warm person. But Medea wasn’t like that for everyone.

“The important thing is that they are a force that’s a hindrance to my sister.”

“What are you going to do?”

“I have to remove the obstacles.”

“For the princess? Why?”

“I’m her older sister.”

Gaia was inwardly surprised.

‘It seems like Princess Medea is really supporting Princess Viola.’

This wasn’t a simple request. It was clear that Medea was trying to give Viola strength.

‘That means Princess Medea completely acknowledges Princess Viola.’

A child who was only thirteen years old.

‘Princess Medea was the one who had the greatest desire to become the family head.’

The fact that someone like Medea gave up cleanly and chose Viola was very meaningful. Gaia felt like she gained something huge as the head of an intelligence organization.

Gaia said as she signed a document, “Can I ask you one more thing?”

“What?”

“If I turn Princess Viola into an enemy, will Princess Medea become an enemy too?”

Medea nodded quickly.

“It won’t end with simply becoming an enemy.”

“What if our ‘Night Cat’ harms Princess Viola?”

At that moment, Gaia’s body flinched. It was only for a moment, but it felt like a sharp murderous intent prickled at every one of her pores. Gaia wasn’t the only one who felt it. The many people who worked at ‘Night Cat’ and hadn’t even paid attention when their group leader and Medea appeared, flinched at the same time. Despite all of that, the cat that was walking around on the table and yawning wasn’t particularly affected by the murderous intent. That was because Medea had precisely adjusted for even that.

“I think this is enough to convey my true feelings.”

Medea had definitely saved Gaia’s life, and she had a personal relationship with Gaia. However, she clearly distinguished between public and private life.

“I won’t destroy you because it will help me and Viola.”

“…I’ll have to work hard.”

Gaia handed the documents to Medea after signing.

“Our Night Cat will not turn Princess Medea and Princess Viola into enemies.”

From that day on, Gaia began tracking ‘Fever’ and ‘Death.’ Without Viola knowing, other things began to move.

“Oh, by the way. Do you know?”

“What?”

“Prince Jeremy, the Small Storm is here.”

Gaia would receive information in real-time. Even Medea didn’t know how it was done.

“And I heard that he met Tundra, the Companion Sword. They headed to the training grounds to test each other’s skills. The result was…”

“Tundra’s overwhelming victory, I guess.”

“That’s right. Tundra won overwhelmingly. What happened to Tundra recently?”

“I heard that he lasted 10 years in the Sanctuary of Ancient Warriors.”

Gaia’s mouth gaped wide. She also knew about the Sanctuary of Ancient Warriors. But 10 years? Even Heron and Medea only lasted 5 years.

“I just got some new information. It seems Prince Jeremy was shocked.”

Jeremy was shocked after being defeated by Tundra. He absolutely could do nothing in front of Tundra.

“Jeremy asked him about his secret and Tundra told him that he lasted 10 years in the Sanctuary of Ancient Warriors. Jeremy’s eyes started to glow and he vowed to head to the Sanctuary of Ancient Warriors.”

“Vowed?”

“He said that he would last at least 10 years. He said that he wanted to show that much sincerity in order to become a good friend to Viola. But shall I tell you one more interesting fact?”

Indeed, Gaia was the leader of the Night Cat.

“Brandia’s youngest daughter, Princess Selvin, also headed there. Her motive was to become like Medea, Viola’s older sister. Thanks to that, the Brandia duchy is now in chaos.”

Gaia snickered.

“The Storm Fortress’ Small Storm and the successor of the Brandia Duchy both headed to the Sanctuary of Ancient Warriors for Viola. Is it my imagination that the world seems to revolve around Princess Viola?”

* * *

At the same time, Viola was riding in a carriage, returning to her quarters after finishing her meeting with Celine. At that moment, her body was shivering.

“Why is it so cold?”

“It seems that you have lost a lot of energy due to your conversation with Celine. I will cover you with a blanket.”

Zenon stood up and covered Viola with a small blanket. After arriving at their quarters, Viola was escorted by Zenon and entered her room.

‘Hmm?’

Viola could smell blood in the room. There was something on the table in front of her causing her whole body to tense.

‘Why is it Butterfly…?’

It was a bloody Butterfly, the cat that Cat-Mom Hickson had raised with much affection. Her heart was pounding, afraid to face Butterfly. Viola bit her lip and walked towards the table. Beside the cat, there was a note.
