Episode 40
When Shiloh saw Brody, who had fallen out with Kyle, just outside the Forest of Ennea, he seized the opportunity.
He deliberately drove a wedge between the two of them, so that Brody would abandon Kyle and follow him.
The fox’s whisper had power. That’s why Brody was briefly enchanted by his whisper.
But Brody never gave up on Kyle, and Shiloh had no choice but to kidnap her.
That’s all. That’s the whole story of this incident.
After hearing the words that came out of Shiloh’s mouth, Brody looked at him with complicated feelings.
She sighed. Why do I only get entangled with those who have their own circumstances?
It was clear that something was wrong with her destiny.
She asked Shiloh, who was sitting there with a relieved face, after telling her everything.
“So what is your purpose?”
Brody’s sighing question had only one meaning. Shiloh answered seriously.
“I want to go back to three years from now. I want to go back then and stop my mother from setting out to face Rubinus.”
It was such a desperate wish that it was enough to weigh heavily on Brody’s heart.
Was this burden simply due to her lack of decisiveness?
Brody knew that wasn’t the case. She saw herself in Shiloh, who had tried to go to Asgar to save his mother.
She herself was on this dangerous journey, trying to save Kyle from an unfortunate end.
So she couldn’t just ignore him and leave him be.
“So, your goal is to bring back your mother’s health, is that all?”
Shiloh, who had been slumping his shoulders, raised his head.
He slowly raised his eyebrows because he could sense something going on and his eyes began sparkling.
It seemed that he thought that from Brody’s friendly reaction that he had convinced her of his story.
“That’s right. That’s all I want.”
Shiloh’s voice was firm. Even though she knew that everything he had done up until now was a lie, she felt sincere in his words.
But Brody had no intention of dying to save his mother.
However, Shiloh, who went to Asgard despite all the danger risking his life to save his mother, would still want to take her back by force and turn back time.
Even if there was no way to do that right now, he could still find a way and eventually obtain the magic stone imbued with black magic.
That situation had to be avoided.
And luckily for Brody, there was a way.
A way to grant his request without dying.
She looked up and saw Shiloh searching through her bag.
Inside the bag was one object, along with a map, books, and several tools, that she had brought from home.
Red cypress sap. It was a medicine that could cure any fatal disease.
The red cypress was a mystical plant that only grew in the village of the Clock Rabbits. Those who drink the sap from this tree will have their body and soul revived even if they have been suffering from a fatal disease or similar injury.
Brody kept the medicine her sister Judy had given her in her bag.
She definitely didn’t bring that medicine to be used on that swindler…
However, to live, and to save.
“Okay. I will cure your mother’s illness.”
Shiloh’s eyes widened when he heard Brody’s words.
Finally, with a moved face, he lifted his front paw and covered his mouth.
It was as if he had welcomed a saint descending from heaven. There was only one reason for such a reaction.
“Are you really willing to die for my mother…?”1Ahhh, I hate this guy 10× more than Kyle ಠ_ಠ
Because he was having such a huge misunderstanding.
Even though Brody had decided to help him, her clenched jaw began to tremble as she was so disgusted at the thought of him saying such things.
Brody glared at him and shouted.
“Am I crazy? How can I, who won’t do it for my own mother, throw away my life for your mother, a complete stranger? It’s ridiculous to even think about it!”
The more she thought about it, the more excited she became.
Brody shouted like that and grumbled for a long time.
Shiloh, who heard that from her, kept his mouth shut with an ashamed face.
And only after her breathing had calmed down a little did he ask, observing her closely.
“Then… how are you going to cure the illness?”
Brody didn’t answer.
She just shouted at Shiloh in front of her to get out of the way, then quickly walked past him and went to where the bag was abandoned.
She picked up the bag, searched inside, and took out a small glass bottle.
It was a small bottle of red liquid that Shiloh had left unattended, not knowing what it was.
She showed the bottle to Shiloh and said.
“Hey. This medicine will cure your mother’s illness.”
“That, with medicine…?”
Shiloh narrowed his eyes at Brody’s words.
It was not like he couldn’t see the bottle properly, but he just stood there frowning and staring at it.
Brody noticed what his reaction meant and immediately frowned in displeasure.
“You don’t believe me now?”
“Hmm.”
He answered without a single moment of hesitation. As they say, the eyes only see what they want to see.
Brody was annoyed because he treated her like a drug dealer.
But she didn’t want to waste any more time expressing her emotions here, so she spoke calmly.
“If you have any doubts, just take me with you. Weren’t you planning on taking me to where your mother is anyway?”
Even if he had doubts, Shiloh had nothing to lose.
But seeing her speaking so confidently, he realized that the drug was truly trustworthy.
Of course, it was still difficult to believe in the power of that ordinary-looking medicine, so he asked.
“Is this a magic potion? Where did you get it from?”
“You don’t know anything about it. So just take the lead. I don’t want to waste any more time here.”
Brody gave up on waiting for Kyle.
In this case, it would be better to handle this quickly and get out of here.
Even if Kyle had just left her and gone his way, Brody would’ve still gone to find him. Because her will to save him still remained unchanged.
There was still a suspicious look in Shiloh’s eyes, but he had no intention of taking it easy on her in this forest.
He waited for Brody to pack her bag to go. But the moment the two people finished preparing and started walking, a wind suddenly blew through the quiet forest.
From a distance, trees began to rustle and sway, and the wind began to howl.
The two of them noticed something strange and looked back.
The wind was rushing from over the hill. They could tell by tracing the trees swaying violently in the wind.
Soon, a rushing wind blew harshly into the forest where they were staying.
This wind shook the tops of coniferous trees that seemed to have no end.
The snow that had piled up on the trees was falling like a blizzard and the two people froze instinctively when they heard the howl of a predator echoing through the forest.
A moment later, a black wolf was seen running up the hill and Brody’s eyes widened.
It was Kyle.
With the eerie glow of his blue eyes, and the breath seeping out from between his closed teeth, the two people who felt the murderous aura he was radiating from his entire body were glued to the floor.
Kyle saw Brody and Shiloh and ran down the hill.
Kyle’s murderous intent, running towards Shiloh as if he was ready to kill him, was as clear as the sun.
Brody, who had been frozen in place, came to her senses upon seeing this.
She ran towards Shiloh, shouting at Kyle to stop, as he seemed determined to kill him.
“No, Kyle!”
But it was already too late.
Brody tried to protect Shiloh by spreading her front legs, but Kyle, who had already lost his mind and charged at them, opened his mouth and Brody shut her eyes tightly as she faced the fearsome fangs.
***
An hour before the incident happened.
Kyle reached one conclusion after seeing Shiloh disappear.
These **** things ran away in the middle of the night, leaving him behind.
Brody stuck by Shiloh after fighting with him, and eventually abandoned him and left with Shiloh.
It didn’t matter why the **** fox had tricked her into leaving.
Anger just rose to the top of his head.
But strangely enough, the source of that anger was not clear.
Whether it was because Brody ‘broke her promise to him and ran away’ or because she ‘left him and ran away with another man’.
However, he had no time to ponder the cause of his anger; all he could think about was finding those white furballs and killing them right away.
Kyle searched the forest frantically for the two of them.
The anger of the man who went to catch his lover who ran away with her new boyfriend was so great that it woke up the forest that was in a deep sleep.
Kyle didn’t want to kill Brody, as she just abandoned him and nothing else.
Even if he killed the fox, he had no intention of killing Brody. He only intended to show her how he tore the fox apart in front of her, and then drag her away by force.
But this thought evaporated as soon as he saw the two people together in the deep forest.
“No, Kyle!”
Kyle saw Brody protecting Shiloh with all her body and thought he should just kill her too.
His emotional turmoil reached its peak.
“Get out of here. I’ll kill that ***** first, and then I’ll kill you.”
But Brody, who was trembling with fear for her life, did not move away from Shiloh and spoke to him.
“Don’t kill him! Kyle, please calm down and listen to me!”
There was no way he could listen to her. Her desperate cries demanding him not to kill him only aroused his murderous intent even more.
But when he heard Brody’s urgent explanation that followed, he couldn’t help but pause for a moment.
“Kyle, if you kill him, we will be in danger! We will be in big trouble!”
The reason he shouldn’t kill Shiloh wasn’t some other sh**** reason he thought of.
The fact that ‘we’ were in danger stopped him in his tracks. The ‘we’ she meant was Kyle and Brody.
Only then did Kyle’s eyes, and ears which were blocked by anger, turn to Brody.
And Brody, realizing that Kyle was finally beginning to listen to her, took a breath in and pointed urgently at the fox hiding behind her.
“Kyle, if you kill this fox, we’ll be in danger. This kid isn’t just some stray fox, he’s the successor of Ennea, the master of this forest we’re in!”
