I Picked Up an Abandoned Villain in the Polar Region

IPUAVNP Chapter 35

Episode 35

The penguins were confused and panicked when they heard Brody’s scream.

Only when she screamed urgently did it seem like the pups were really in danger.

Brody shouted again at the penguins, who were still tottering and not knowing what to do, to come to their senses.

“What are you guys doing! Why don’t you go and get them quickly!”

Because of all the shouting, Brody ended up wasting all the energy she had.

The penguins realized the seriousness of the situation when they saw Brody lying down exhausted after yelling loudly, and ran to pick up their chicks one by one.

But while they were hurriedly walking away, carrying the baby penguins like luggage…

The last remaining baby penguin sank the sharp spikes he was holding into the whale’s stretched skin.

“Omg!”

Everyone held their breath.

Fortunately, the baby penguin was quickly picked up by its parents who ran over.

But before they could leave the vicinity of the body, the sound of gas already leaking from where the ice had been stuck could be heard.

As the gap widened, the saggy belly skin didn’t take long to tear apart.

Then, with a loud ‘Bang!’ sound, the whale’s body exploded.

“Whoa!”

Its intestines and blood gushed out like a fountain from its splitting skin amidst the screams.

Everyone, including Brody, who had warned them that it would explode but never imagined it would actually happen, was transfixed when they saw the whale actually explode.

A foul smell quickly spread, and blood and visceral remains fell around the corpse.

As encountering a whale carcass was so rare in one’s entire life, the Gentoo penguin tribe and the three castaways, who had been watching the fountain show together, just looked at each other in amazement.

The penguins freed the three who were buried alive in the snow immediately after the whale carcass explosion, which was bloody but left no one injured.

Those timid and soft-hearted people were also somewhat naive.

The penguins were touched by the sight of Brody screaming at the top of her lungs for the baby penguins, even though she should have been resentful of them.

Actually she didn’t scream so loudly. However, because the situation was so dramatic, their memories were slightly embellished.

So the penguins decided that they would not harm the three of them and would let them go.

As a token of their gratitude, they treated them to a delicious meal. It was a herring caught directly from the sea by the penguins.

“It’s freshly caught mackerel, so it’ll taste good. You won’t find any fish as delicious as mackerel from the North Sea anywhere else.”

“It’s true. This is the first time I’ve had such delicious fish.”

Unlike Kyle, who ate the fish in a hurry without even having time to say anything, Shiloh was very witty. He hung out with the Gentoo penguins and praised the fish for being delicious.

On the other hand, Brody was very hungry, but the smell of the fish made her vomit repeatedly.

This was because she lived on only vegetables, not meat.

“Are you okay?”

Kyle asked Brody, who seemed sick.

He was busy eating and didn’t even listen to what the penguins, who brought him his daily bread, said. But when he saw Brody retching and struggling next to him, he stopped eating for a moment and approached her.

Brody tried to eat the fish’s flesh but failed and fell to the ground in front of it.

“It smells so bad…….”

“I guess you are still fine if you can afford being picky about food.”

Kyle grumbled and took the fish in front of Brody and put it in his mouth.

Just when Brody was about to glare at him for his annoying behavior, he grabbed the fish with his teeth and tore the flesh off of it and threw it in front of Brody.

“Eat.”

The white flesh was right before her eyes. Brody crawled over and sniffed at the fish.

When she smelled it again, the bloody smell hit her nose hard.

It was so bad that she rubbed her nose with her front paw.

Still, it was less smelly than the smell coming from the shell, so Brody decided to try some with the intention of filling up her stomach in order to live.

But it wasn’t easy after all.

She swallowed the fish meat without chewing while holding her nose, but soon, unable to bear the fishy smell rising from her throat, she retched.

Kyle felt sick eating next to someone who was nauseous, but he didn’t move and continued eating the fish, his tail brushing her back, patting it gently.

Meanwhile, the penguins stamped their feet in pity at the sight of the little rabbit suffering from nausea.

“There’s nothing for rabbits to eat around here. What should we do?”

“If you want to get something like a herb, you have to go inland.”

At the sound of the word ‘inland’, the three castaways raised their heads.

Because they were so out of their minds after being released from being buried alive, they didn’t have time to look around.

Following the direction the penguins were pointing, they could see something across the calm sea.

It was the inland coast.

Although they had gotten further away than before, they had not come far enough to completely give up hope.

“Is the continent we see now the Knohen continent?”

When Shiloh asked the penguins to confirm, thankfully they all nodded.

“That’s right. You were going to the continent of Knohen, right?”

“Yes. But as you can see, we are stuck in the ice floe right now and can’t move.”

The voice that said that was extremely exhausted and worn out.

Brody, who had been lying down with her hind legs stretched out, got up slowly, hoping that the problem would be solved somehow when she asked the penguins.

“Is there any way to get from here to that coast?”

“It would be nice if you had a boat……”

But the penguins shook their heads at Shiloh’s words, and said the same thing Brody had said one day.

“Even if you have a boat, it’s difficult to get to the coast sailing through these ice floes with a wooden boat.”

“So, there is no other way than to wait until this ice reaches the shore.”

Brody sighed.

That’s what she said, but she felt it was impossible after drifting on this ice floe for some time.

Even if the moment came… She would probably be starved to death by then and would arrive on the shore as a skeleton.

Unlike Kyle, who stubbornly filled his stomach as if he had no intention of starving to death despite the grim reality before his eyes, Shiloh lost his appetite and Brody lost what little energy she had left.

And the penguins who were watching these desperate drifters from the side soon spoke to them.

“This…..there’s another way.”

“We can help you get to that coast.”

“Really?”

The three of them raised their heads at the same time in a perfect harmony.

They hadn’t even heard how the penguins could help, but they reacted like they had found an oasis in the desert just by the fact that there was a way.

Their eyes, that turned towards the penguins, were the brightest they had been since they met.

Brody jumped up, put her front paws together, walked over and asked.

“Dear penguins, how on earth are you going to help us?”

Kyle, who absolutely hated flattery, made a pitiful expression at Brody’s transparent attitude.

But the penguins were secretly flattered by that reaction and confidently made the offer to them.

“We will drive you there ourselves.”

“……What?”

When they said they would give them a lift, they literally meant that the penguins would carry them on their backs and swim to the shore.

The three of them were initially dumbfounded when they heard this offer, but soon had no choice but to accept it.

They were in no position to refuse the penguins’ help, as they had no other choice.

Of course, even after accepting the offer, the idea of swimming in that sea didn’t feel real, so all three of them couldn’t hide their bewildered expressions.

“I thought they meant that when they said they would help us, they would link their bodies together to form a bridge.”

“Be quiet, Kyle.”

Brody stayed still as she warned Kyle to stop muttering.

She was now being carried on the penguin’s back. The penguins were making a fuss because Brody was so small that she couldn’t keep up with their swimming speed, so they decided to tie her on their backs.

The penguins wrapped Brody’s body in a blanket with the rope she was carrying.

“How fast can you go to tie her up like a kid?”

“Be quiet, Kyle.”

Kyle kept muttering as if he was dissatisfied with Brody, who was being tied up so tightly that even her blood flow was blocked.

Brody looked at him once more and said.

She was worried that the penguins would be offended and refuse to bring them.

But the penguins didn’t show any sign of being offended and just chuckled at his antics as if they were some kind of master of the underwater world.

“Let’s go now.”

The penguin carrying Brody said. On his back, Brody waved her forelegs at the Gentoo penguin tribe who were waving goodbye to her.

After finishing the greetings, the penguin carrying Brody ran to the edge of the steep ice floe and when it reached the slope, it immediately folded its wings and lay down.

The penguin’s body, lying face down on the ground, slid down the slope, and then, with the help of the speed it gained, it cut through the deep sea.

“Mmm!”

Brody, who was suddenly submerged in the sea, held her breath.

She couldn’t open her eyes. But it wasn’t because the sea water was cold.

As soon as she entered the water, she realized why the penguins were so proud of their underwater movement speed.

Penguins in the water look completely different from those waddling around on land.

Even though Brody had her eyes closed, she could feel that the penguin carrying her was swimming through the water at incredible speed.

The resistance of the water touching her was too strong.

It felt as if she was falling from a great height against the air resistance.

Eventually, the penguin rose to the surface so Brody could breathe.

“Puh!”

Brody looked up from the water and let out the breath she had been holding.

An exclamation burst from her mouth along with it.

“Wow!”

It felt like water skiing. In this short time, the drift ice they had left behind seemed far away.

A shout of joy was also heard from Shiloh, who was following her.

After a while, ice floes appeared before the eyes of those who were quickly cutting through the sea.

The penguin cried out.

“Okay, hold your breath!”

With those words, the penguin went back into the water.

This time, Brody held her breath and opened her eyes with difficulty. At the same time, a new blue underwater world opened up before her eyes.

The penguin swam freely beneath the huge ice floe that covered the sea, which they had almost collided with earlier.

No, rather than swimming, it would be more appropriate to say that it was flying like a bird in the water.

The penguin spread its wings like a bird gliding as it went forward, parting the sea.

It was like being in a giant aquarium. She could see schools of fish swimming together in the water, and giant fish swimming right past them.

And under the sea, there was also an old wooden bridge that could no longer be crossed and became submerged.

After a while, Brody, who was riding on the penguin’s back to see the underwater

world, came back up to the surface.

Before her lay the coast of the continent of Knohen, which she had longed to reach for days.
