Episode 28
“Do you know about sea monsters?”
Brody frowned at the Moose’s question as he sat on a large oak barrel, smoking a cigarette.
She thought she had heard about sea monsters from her father. But it was a fuzzy story, so she figured it wasn’t proper information.
The Moose must have sensed from Brody’s expression that she didn’t know anything about sea monsters, so he started telling her a story about them, like a friendly adult telling a tale from the old days.
“There are huge sea monsters living in the Angevin Sea. They are covered in iron armor and reigns over the Angevin Sea. They are fishermen like us.They don’t like it when we come to the Angevin Sea and catch a lot of herring. So when they see us, they try to drive us away by causing a big storm. So we’ve been paying a price to these sea monsters up until now.”
“A Price?”
Brody’s eyes wavered.
“Yes, you see. Long ago, one of our ancestors was catching a herring when he got caught in a storm caused by a sea monster. The sea monster put the ancestor in its mouth and just disappeared. Through this, our ancestors learned, ‘Ah, sea monsters disappear when you throw them food.’”
Talking about it as if it were some huge realization, a creepy look flashed in the moose’s eyes, and he added.
“In short, it means that the ‘food’ is you guys.”
At those words spoken by the Moose, who smiled with his white teeth exposed, the rabbit’s small mouth opened weakly.
They were brought here to be fed to sea monsters. It was an ending they could never have imagined.
The Moose looked at Brody’s face, which was becoming increasingly distorted with despair, with amusement, took a drag on his cigarette, and continued talking.
“You know Jacob? The reindeer that handed you over. Originally, I was going to bring his family because they couldn’t pay their debts.”
Jacob…Brody finally understood what he had said to her.
So that’s what he meant when he said he was threatened to hand them over if he wanted his mother and younger sibling not to be taken away?
Even in the midst of all this, she was worried about his well-being.
She asked the moose.
“What did you do to Mr. Jacob? Did you… kill him?”
The last time she heard his scream was still vivid.
Naturally, the Moose looked dumbfounded at Brody’s words.
“Are you worried about the guy who sold you out? I guess you don’t have a good grasp of the situation.”
He laughed at her and said he had kidnapped a saint.
“He’s not dead. I kicked him a little because I was annoyed that he tried to make you run away at the last minute, but he’s not dead. Now that the deal is done by handing you over to us, he’ll be able to live happily with my family. So if you’re in your right mind, you should blame him instead.”
The Moose got up from the barrel, threw his smoked cigarette on the floor, stubbed it out with his foot, and opened his mouth.
“Anyway, your situation is not good, just know that we have to make a living, so it can’t be helped. Don’t curse us too much.”
After saying that, the Moose whistled and left the warehouse. The door slammed shut and darkness fell upon her.
Brody’s body, which had been stiff, fell to the floor with a thud.
She was so devastated that she lost her mind and thought everything was over.
Kyle was also listening to Moose, so he was biting his lip the whole time and getting angry silently.
And the fact that he couldn’t do anything even though the anger was boiling up all over his body, drove him further into despair.
The ship sailed all day with strong southerly winds, and entered the Angevin Sea on a pitch-black night when not even a moon had risen.
The moose were delighted that the strong winds were carrying them quickly to their destination until they reached the Angevin Sea.
But the joy didn’t last long. As they entered the Angevin Sea, the wind became even rougher and the waves grew even bigger.
The situation was not good.
If they faced a storm like this from day one, the fishermen would be exhausted and the boat would get damaged, so they would have to return home earlier than planned. They also wouldn’t be able to catch many herrings.
The moose hoped that no sea monsters would show up in this situation.
Because if a storm and a sea monster appeared from the first day, then this voyage would mostly be wasted.
But the sea tossed and turned even stronger, making a loud noise with the wind.
Because of this, the mood of the sailors who were bailing out water from the deck in the dark of the night became increasingly tense.
“At this rate, will have to leave this time a little earlier.”
“We got the ‘food’ to take with us yesterday, so how can we leave early?”
“So you should have listened to me when I told you to take the reindeer’s mother and sibling!”
“What? You agreed to give the reindeer a few more days before, so why are you talking nonsense now?”
When the moose were about to stop fetching water and start fighting.
Suddenly a thunderous sound echoed from the sky.
Hearing that, they stopped their fight at the same time.
It started to rain heavily.
“Oh, shit!”
The moose swore in unison. Looking at the pouring rain, they knew that it would not stop here and that a bigger storm was coming.
In the sky thunder rumbled and lightning struck, and heavy rain poured down, and as if responding to the sky, the sea also raged like crazy.
The ship was swept away on the sea as if it were a mere piece of paper ready to capsize at any moment.
However, the moose, who had already experienced this storm several times, did not give up and held on, pouring out the water with all their might.
They tried to be confident that they could easily overcome this storm as long as the sea monsters did not appear.
But at this moment, the storm raged on like crazy, forcing them out onto the deck one by one.
A shallow whistle passed through the ears of a Moose, who had sharper hearing than most people.
It was coming from somewhere in the ocean. And it didn’t seem like it was only one person who heard it, as everyone slowly stopped bailing out water and stood up.
A moment later, amidst the thunderclaps of the sky and the roar of the sea, a sound like a woman’s scream tore through the air.
Then a word came out of the mouths of the frozen moose.
“…appeared.”1‘It/they appeared ‘ would make more sense, but as you know korean drops pronounces, so lt should be one word ‘appeared’

Ugh, ugh.
Kyle and Brody had been half-asleep for hours on end from seasickness on the ship, which was rocking and rocking as barrels tossed and turned and crates flew from side to side.
They were so out of their minds that Brody stopped midway through cutting the rope that was tying her front legs tightly together.
But even amidst that, the two of them also heard the unidentified sound coming from outside which made the hairs on their body stand on end.
It was a bizarre sound that was all the more chilling because its identity was unknown.
After a while, the sound of footsteps suddenly grew closer, and soon the warehouse door opened wide and moose rushed in.
“Pull them out!”
They could tell without explanation that a sea monster had appeared.
The moose immediately rushed in, opened the cage door, and dragged Brody out.
“Kyle!”
Seeing Brody being taken away from him.
Kyle tried to get up straight, but his legs were tied so he fell backwards.
Then the moose dragged him out of the cage, placed him in a net with Brody, and dragged them onto the deck.
The moment they left the warehouse, a tremendous shock shook the deck as if the ship had hit a large reef.
“Whoa!”
Brody screamed as she and Kyle were thrown down along with the other people.
But the scream was short-lived, as she soon came face to face with the identity of what had collided with the ship, and her breath was taken away.
The back of a gigantic monster with no end in sight passed by, scraping against the railing of the ship that had just crashed into it.
The moose cried out when they saw this.
“****, that guy is something else! He’s bigger than the other ones we’ve seen!”
It was hard to keep her wits about her as she was being dragged away and it was the same for Kyle.
The two of them were so terrified that they couldn’t move a limb as they saw the back of the monster circling around as if it was playing with the ship.
The rain was still pouring down as if there was a hole in the sky, and waves were rising from the sea and hitting her whole body.
Once again the sea monster’s body collided with the ship. The bow shattered loudly and the moose screamed.
As if in response, the sea monster let out a roar. This time, it rang like a ship’s horn, shaking not only the mens’ ears but also their brains.
The moose quickly headed for the railing to throw Kyle and Brody before the sea monster could destroy the boat any further.
“Everyone, lift up your nets!”
At that shout, four people clumped together and lifted a net.
Brody and Kyle, who had only come to their senses after seeing a body being lifted and thrown over the railing, struggled in the net.
Brody was so absent-minded that she didn’t even notice that the rope on her front leg, which had been half-severed, had completely come loose.
Kyle kept trying to pull Brody into his arms, and have her stuck to his body.
Brody figured out what he meant. He meant to tell her not to leave him.
The moose could not bear to throw away their precious nets, so they decided to throw them over the railing and let them fall into the sea alone.
But the plan failed. Kyle had grabbed the net with his four claws, preventing them from falling into the sea.
That was also why he had pulled Brody into his arms. Brody was able to stick to Kyle without falling into the water by holding on to his legs with her two front paws, which were free of ropes.
The waves came up and crashed down on them as if they were going to swallow them hanging on the side of the boat, but Kyle gritted his teeth and held on. So did Brody.
However…as the water level around the ship began to rise, everyone nearby, including the two men who stopped fighting, stood still.
An eerie silence passed over them, like a sign of something great happening. And then, immediately after, a shocking sight followed.
From the churning sea, a sea monster rose from water with an ear-splitting sound.
At first Brody thought a reef had risen.
But when lightning flashed across the sky, illuminating the strange oval-shaped body of the sea monster that had risen from the sky.
Kyle and Brody, who were hanging on the side of the boat, screamed and lost their calm.
“Aaaah!”
Soon the sea monster was thrown back into the sea, causing the ripples on the surface to spread out into huge waves.
And just before the wave swallowed the boat, Kyle suddenly felt something attached to his leg fall off and he looked down hurriedly.
His eyes widened. Brody was falling into the sea, unconscious.
