Chapter 17: Cleaning up afterwards
When Satias went to school the next day, he caught Natalie on the cafe terrace just in time.
He got a small warning from his father: “Don’t put Bianca in a precarious position while you’re with her.”
He had to nail Natalie.
“Why would you tell her that she committed suicide when she has no memory of her past and is already so anxious?”
Natalie looked away, and Kelly, her companion, was in the seat next to her.
“I didn’t mean it that way, sir.”
“Yes, Natalie-sama is right.”
It was as if they were on the same page. Because of the master-servant relationship between Natalie and Kelly’s family, Kelly has no choice but to follow Nathalie.
“In other words, you did not intend to disrespect the Kessler family?”
Natalie remained calm under this threat, but Kelly trembled.
“Oh no, not at all. I just told her it was hard for the despised Bianca-sama because His Highness Stuart and Lady Flora were flirting with each other even though he was engaged to her.”
Natalie feigned sympathy for Bianca.
“So you said she killed herself over it?”
“……”
They both looked down.
What cruel things they say! Bianca is anxious because of her amnesia; she doesn’t know right from left and she is studying desperately as father tells her to do. What in the world had Bianca done to these two girls?
Satias felt frustrated. Bianca was now memoryless and good-natured and is defenseless against these insensitive people.
“How can you say such a miserable thing to someone with amnesia and feeling frail? I will not allow you to have anything to do with my sister. If Bianca ever suffers another slander from you guys, I would not guarantee something will not happen to you.”
Nathalie looked up at him as if he had slapped her.
“I am not slandering you! I cannot forgive Flora. I am so sorry for Bianca. I was only trying to take her side to restore her honor.”
Natalie’s eyes showed cunningness. Satias could not tolerate that. She did not like Flora and wanted to fire up Bianca, who knew nothing about it.
“You were just trying to use Bianca to harass Miss Flora. You were her cronies, to begin with. But as soon as her engagement to His Highness was called off, you abandoned her. Even when you found out that she had been found, you didn’t contact her at all. I can’t have such people by Bianca’s side.”
The two of them looked down again, and they took out their handkerchiefs.
“Stop pretending to cry and play the victim. You call this suicide without any proof. This time, the Kessler family will protest this incident with the Collins family. If you’re not satisfied with that, bring me solid evidence.”
With these words, the color of their faces changed, and they hurriedly began to apologize. Of course, not a single tear was shed. Their demeanor changed from aggressive to defensive.
Bianca had a certain amount of social skills before she lost her memory, but now she is defenseless. The younger sister, with whom he had little interaction before losing her memory, now relies on her eldest brother.
Bianca was politically engaged when she was 11 years old. But it seems she had developed a faint crush on the good-looking Stuart.
And for reasons unknown, she started to binge eat at some point. Perhaps she felt great pressure from her position as the fiancée of the country’s third prince. Stuart disliked the fat Bianca, calling her ugly, and eventually started dating Flora.
Bianca was rumored to be angry with him for it and jealous of Flora. Still, at times, her eyes would occasionally fall on Stuart.
She was too proud to cling to him. Surely she was in pain, but now Satias could only speculate. After all, he wasn’t speaking to Bianca back then.……
The fence on the balcony where Bianca fell was for enjoying the scenery, and was neither high nor low.
In the interest of the Kessler family’s honor, the incident was treated as a fall without any detailed investigation.
The truth is only known to Bianca. Her amnesia may not have been a temporary shock, but rather she may have sealed her memory.
