I Want to Join A Monastery

When Bianca returned home, she did not eat dinner and locked herself in her room. The servants, alarmed by Bianca’s strange behavior, informed the master of the house, but he told them to leave her alone and, if they could not do anything, let Satias take care of her.

“Lady Bianca, Lady Bianca!”

The maid called out from outside the room in concern, but the door was closed, and Bianca did not respond.

At a loss, Satias, the eldest brother, who had heard from the butler, arrived. For some reason, Bianca did not wait for her brother today and left earlier.

“Bianca, it’s me. Open up! Did something happen at school?”

Satias knocked on the door, and with a click of the lock, a teary-eyed Bianca peeked out. Satias told the maid to prepare some tea and entered Bianca’s room.

“What’s wrong? Bianca, what happened? Has His Highness been harassing you? Or has Lady Flora been tormenting you?”

Bianca shook her head. Then a maid came in pushing a tea wagon. Satias made the maid withdraw. Satias poured tea into a cup and handed it to Bianca.

When Bianca sipped her tea meekly, Satias asked her, “Have you settled down a little bit?” Before long, Satias had assumed the role of caretaker for Bianca at the house.

“Brother, I may not be able to become a nun.”

“What? What are you talking about all of a sudden?”

Satias was dumbfounded. His sister’s nonsense has started again. She was lacking depth since losing her memory.

“Because I committed suicide, didn’t I? Suicide is a mortal sin. I am sure the monastery will not accept me.”

As soon as he heard that, Satias’s face instantly tightened.

“Hold on. I don’t get what you’re talking about. Hold on a second while I sort things out.”

Satias racked his brain. Although he didn’t know why she wanted to join a monastery, that was not the issue at hand. He shoved the nun thing aside for now.

“Right. Let’s leave the monastery aside for now. How did you conclude that you committed suicide? Who told you that?”

“Yes, I was told by someone called Lady Natalie that I had committed suicide.”

“Well, did Nathalie, of the Marquis Collins family, pass such an irresponsible rumor on to your ears?”

“Irresponsible rumor?”

“That’s right. It’s nothing but a rumor.”

Bianca, who had been crying, suddenly stopped at her brother’s words.

“What? That took me by surprise,” she said as if nothing had happened and blinked her eyes.

“I’m the one who was surprised. Besides, you’re obliged to marry the man Father has chosen for you anyway, why are you going to a monastery?”

“Yes, of course, I will fulfill my responsibilities as a nobleman’s daughter. However, after that I can join the monastery, correct?”

Satias was taken aback by this.

“You… enjoyed the monastery that much?”

Bianca put her hand on her thin chin and thought for a moment.

“It’s different than being enjoyable. How should I say it? It’s like being relieved. It’s hard to put into words. You’ll understand when you enter, Brother.”

“Spare me that..”

Bianca’s eyes widened in surprise at her eldest brother’s immediate response.

“Brother, everything is an experience. When you are in that serenity and offer your prayers, your anxiety and impatience disappear, and your mind is free! It purifies the soul.”

Bianca’s eyes sparkled as she spoke passionately, and Satias felt uneasy. He wondered if his sister was serious about joining a monastery.

If things continued to be too unpleasant, she might run away to the monastery. He wondered if he should report to their father that she wanted to join a monastery. But if he did that, she would be locked up in the house.

“If so, there is no way you would commit suicide like that. It was an accident. I know you are anxious because of your amnesia, but don’t be misled by all those rumors.”

Bianca gave a nod. She had seen that balcony before. Did she inadvertently fall down…? Though unconvinced, she decided to put her faith in her brother’s words for now.

“Bianca, this is just my opinion, but if you ended up in a monastery, won’t all the hard work you put in every day be for nothing? To me, it just seems that way.”

Hearing her brother’s words, Bianca grinned.

“I don’t think that my studies will be in vain just because I joined the monastery. However, I hope that Brother will play an active role in the world here. For the benefit of others.”

“For the benefit of others?”

The younger sister said an unexpected thing.

“Yes, I am probably not a person who can be of service to anyone like you brother. That is why I want to pray and support the lives of the people of the town.”

Saying so, Bianca’s eyes sparkled and looked divine.
