I Lied to the Male Lead with My Pinky Finger on the Line

ILML Chapter 96

Hena also loved Dioclyde. However, she agonized over the fact that if her relationship with him, as a human, were exposed, Dioclyde would face significant trouble.

And then, some time later, Hena realized that she was pregnant with Dioclyde’s child. She believed that her and the child’s existence would burden Dioclyde. Above all, she wasn’t even sure if the baby would survive being exposed to the harsh air of the demon world. So, Hena decided to leave Dioclyde, keeping her pregnancy a secret.

Hena tells Dioclyde that the demon realm is now frightening to her, and she wants to go back home. Although Dioclyde didn’t want to let her go because he loved her, he chose to let her go.

Thus, their love meets a tragic end.

In the epilogue, it’s written that after Hena left, Dioclyde, overwhelmed by a sense of great loss, descended from the demon king’s throne and went into seclusion. It must have been because of this that Clyde never found his father. If nothing had happened, he would probably still be living somewhere in the demon realm.

‘If he meets his father… and if he learns that he truly loved his mother, Clyde’s heart will surely find healing.’

Dioclyde would undoubtedly be pleased to know about his son’s existence. Though he would be saddened by Hena’s death, knowing his sincerity… He would be able to regain the light in his life that he thought he had lost.

The question was, how would I find him?

‘He was the former Demon King; surely someone knows his whereabouts. I need to think about it; there must be a way…’

I kissed Clyde’s cheek in his deep sleep and burrowed into his arms.

The next day, when I opened my eyes, Clyde was getting ready to leave.

“Did I wake you? You can sleep more.”

I shook my head, climbed out of bed, walked over to him, and hugged him.

“I have a meeting today; if you keep doing this, I won’t want to go.”

“What? Then I won’t.”

Clyde smirked as he watched me fidget.

“I know, I’m just kidding.”

Maybe it was because of my mood, but I felt that his expression when looking at me had become much more relaxed than before.

“Do well and come back. Then I’ll give you a reward.”

“What reward?”

“That’s a secret until you come back.” I brought a finger to my mouth, and Clyde’s eyes fluttered languidly.

“Seriously, I don’t want to go anymore.”

His hand gently stroked my cheek. His touch was sensual and deep; it made me instantly feel hot. To avoid revealing that fact, I quickly took a step back from Clyde.

“N, no. You need to go. Otherwise, there won’t be any rewards or anything.”

“Okay, I got it.”

Clyde walked towards the door but suddenly turned back to me as if he remembered something.

“What’s wrong?”

Without saying a word, Clyde reached out his hand toward my neck. As his fingers touched the back of my neck, I heard a clicking sound, and the choker loosened.

“Ah….”

I felt a slightly dizzying sensation as the long-clogged mana channels in my body opened up in an instant.

Clyde stared at me, then kissed my forehead.

“I’ll be back.”

The door closed behind him, and I stood where he’d left me, feeling sick to my stomach.

But the feeling didn’t last long.

-Finally!

Eleanor’s excited voice echoed in my head.

-He finally took off that damn choker. I thought I was going to die from frustration!

‘…Master.’

-I thought you said you’d be able to take off the choker as soon as you came to the Demon Realm! What took you so long?

‘I did my best, Master. If you were watching, you would know.’

-I saw it. You’ve been spending your days and nights having fun with him!

My face heated up at that.

‘What were you… What were you looking at?’

-Was I looking because I wanted to? What could I do when I could see it?

‘Then at least pretend you didn’t see it, ugh, really…!’

-You can’t do anything but pretend. I thought I was going to be trapped inside for the rest of my life!

‘What do you mean ‘for the rest of your life’ when you’re just a consciousness? Anyway, I want to ask you something.’

-You’re such an unscrupulous person. Do you only plan to use me as you need me?

‘You’re the one who forced yourself into me even though I didn’t want to, so consider it all karma.’

-You devil….

Eleanor clicked her tongue.

‘Do you happen to know a spell that can locate a specific person?’

-Why are you suddenly asking about that?

‘Because I need it, obviously. Don’t you know?’

-Do you think there’s magic that I don’t know?

‘Of course, Master! I knew you’d say that.’

-Are you trying to flatter me now? So you could put me in the palm of your hands and manipulate me. You seem very arrogant.

‘It was only an expression of pure admiration and respect. But, by any chance, is that magic like teleportation, where you can only find people you’ve met before?’

-Who is it that you wish to find?

‘Clyde’s father. He’s the former Demon King. I’m sure he’s hiding somewhere in this world.’

-Why do you want to find him?

‘I have my reasons. So, is it possible or impossible?’

-Nothing is impossible with my magic.

‘But you said before that no one, not even you, can take on a demon army alone.’

-You remember every little detail. That was just something I said because it’s impossible for someone like you to actually face them alone. If I were still alive, it would have been a piece of cake.

‘Oh, yeah. Sure.’

-You asked me to teach you tracking magic. You don’t want to learn?

‘You’re my master. The greatest archmage known to mankind I’m honored to have you as my teacher.’

-…….

Why do I feel like Eleanor is looking at me in disbelief?

‘You’ll teach me, right?’

-Even if I teach you, do you think you’ll be able to use magic properly in this world?

‘Ah….’

Now that I thought I had a clue to finding Clyde’s father, I had forgotten an important fact. Here, in the Demon Realm, there was no mana in the environment, meaning I had to use the mana in my body. That would be enough for simple magic like creating light or making things lighter, but it would certainly not be enough to cast Eleanor’s advanced magic.

‘…Then I’ll have to figure out how to use the magic of the realm instead of mana for now.’

The last time I spoke to Eleanor, this was the alternative I had suggested in response to his point that ‘if I go to the Demon Realm, my life as a mage will end’.

Of course, it was clear that this would not be as simple as it sounds. It meant completely overturning the magical system I had studied and mastered throughout my life and starting from scratch. If I were to compare it, it was like learning an entirely new language. Except there were no textbooks or teachers, just an unknown language that may or may not even exist.

That’s when I realized it would require years of dedication and effort.

-There’s no need to figure it out.

‘What? What do you mean?’

-I’m saying I’ve already figured it out.

I was speechless and stunned.

‘…You figured it out? How to use magic power instead of mana?’

-Then what do you think I’ve been doing for the past month—just sitting around idly watching you go at it with him?

‘Eek! Stop talking about that!’

I snapped in disbelief, and Eleanor began to giggle.

-Why? Well, he doesn’t seem to be particularly skilled at anything. Maybe it’s because he’s a demon; he never gets tired, no matter how much he does it. How about it? Explain it to me in detail.

‘I-I have nothing to explain! If you bring that up one more time, I’ll put the choker back on! I mean it!’

-Fine, fine. Don’t get so worked up.

I cooled down my flushed cheek with the back of my hand.

‘…So? You’re telling me you figured out how to use magic?’

-There’s no way I’d lie to you about something like that, and I’d be found out quickly anyway.

‘Wow, Master… you really were a genius….’

I said in sincere admiration.

This was indeed a grand wizard who had single-handedly achieved a level of mastery that no one else had been able to match in a thousand years.

In my previous life, I had learned in history that true geniuses accomplish things that are unimaginable by the standards of ordinary people. For the first time, I felt like I was witnessing an example of that.

-So you mean you didn’t realize it until now?

‘No, I knew. I’m just impressed all over again.’

-You just say everything.

‘So, can you teach me that method now?’

-It’s not that simple. It’s not just a matter of teaching you the formula; you have to train and acquire it in your own body. It will take time.

‘How long?’

-I don’t know. If it were me, three days would have been enough. But for you, maybe about a month?

I felt a surge of anger at her words.

‘Then I’ll do it in a week.’

-What? Do you think you can just declare that and it will happen?

‘You said three days would have been enough for you, so I’ll do it in a week at least.’

-Your boldness is admirable, but are you sure it will work out as you think?

‘It doesn’t matter. Please start teaching me as soon as possible. I don’t have much time.’

Eleanor smirked at my impatience.

-Very well. Let’s get started.
