I Ended up Raising the Children of the Protagonists

CHAPTER 003

Marchen was a woman with noble beauty. The white snow falling, the violets blooming in it, and the woman who reminded them of this was ‘Märchen Tiye’. However, due to those who took advantage of her beauty, coveted her, and tried to destroy her, she withered away. Minute after minute, however, Marchen was always quiet in the memories of her that came to her intensely. The memory that awakened her from such stillness was when her nanny told her the story of ‘Syrena Liev’.

She was told the story of Sirena, who cleared the false accusation placed on her and restored her honor. Marchen buried her face in her knees and she listened quietly, as if reading fairy tales from her childhood, and when she could no longer hear her stories about her, she Instead of being sad, he prayed that Sirena would be happy. She didn’t know why she prayed like that. The memories that came flooding back to her didn’t show everything. But when she found out that her long-awaited outing was the wedding of Sirena and John, she smiled with the happiest face in the world. She prayed for blessings as she watched the two pledge their eternity. That happiness disappeared after she met ‘Ainz Rainswain’ at the reception held after the wedding of the two main characters. He had dark black hair like the dark night sky without the moon, and red eyes beneath it. He did not push away Marchen.

“Sirena…”

Even though he didn’t call her, Marchen didn’t push him away. No, she couldn’t do it. Marchen was agitated and she accepted him. In the night they spent together, she did not hear her name until the end. The morning that came after a night of being possessed, Ainz apologized to her with a look of self-destruction on his face. Marchen made no reply. So the two returned to their daily lives. Yes, that was how the story would end. But that night made life. Rumors spread widely that the noble daughter of Count Tiye’s family had fathered a child outside of her own home. This reached Ainz’s ears, so Ainz came to visit Marchen, who was on the verge of being kicked out of her countess. So the two made an eternal vow. All of this is a story that does not appear in 〈One Greater Happiness〉.

“She is the daughter of Count Tiye, Ainz.” Sirena smiled mischievously.

“Isn’t this person too much for you?”

“Ainz Rainswain just smiled faintly at the laughter-filled voice.”

Marchen ended her appearance as the daughter of Count Tiye. Marchen cherished the child who came to her. However, she left Marchen without the child born that way being able to make a single cry. Five months later, Marchen cried out in that brief happiness. In the end, the children of the main character couple came to visit Marchen, who was unable to even raise her voice. It was Riev and Josef.

Ainz showed a mother, who had lost her child, the child of his friend, whom he loved. It was a cruel encounter. The children of this person who hoped for happiness and prayed for blessings brought despair to Marchen. Ainz Rainswain, he was truly cruel. After a cruel encounter, the two lived together as if they never existed, facing each other to the bare minimum, tied to the name Rainswain.

When all these memories came flooding back, I had to desperately hold on to my memories to keep from losing myself. The memory of a mother crying over the loss of her child was covered by the memory of my younger siblings giving me gifts for the first time. The memories of ‘Märchen Rainswain’ ended with Ainz’s words.

“I think I’ll bring the kids.”

[Happiness is over, greater happiness has come.]

The ending of ‘One Greater Happiness’ was a perfect happy ending. The main character, Sirena Liev, who lost everything after being falsely accused of treason, and John Hawes, who loved her, Sirena uses the treasure of Eskaya, the ancient dragon that protected the country, to overcome hardships and hardships. He overcomes this and succeeds in reinstating his family name. And Sirena vows eternity with John, and the story ends with the birth of twins who resemble them. I thought it was a perfect happy ending. Although it was difficult to achieve in reality, I smiled at the ending of Sirena and Johan because it was a story I hoped for. However, the true ending of the two was not all that was engraved with makeup.

“The Marquis Hawes and his wife have passed away.”

A voice spoke softly. Unlike that voice, the corners of his eyes were as red as his pupils.

“They say he was swept away by a landslide. They said it was already too late when they found them.”

Marchen asked as Ainz’s voice spoke of the death of her old friend and the death of the woman she once loved.

“Why…?”

That question was not posed to Ainz. I didn’t know what he wanted to ask. Marchen continued to ask questions to which Ainz had no answers even after he left her room. And her memory was cut off after Ainz said that he would like to bring her children.

“Marchen Rainswain?”

I came to my senses when I heard a loud voice. He smiled, squeezing the small hand that was holding mine. I looked at the child like that while trying to hold her trembling lips.

“Can I call you Marchen?”

“Naughty Liev!”

I swallowed my laughter and nodded.

“Of course.”

At my answer, Yebin… no, Liev smiled brightly.

“Marchen says it’s okay, but why are you making more of a fuss?”

“Well, that’s…”

I stroked the head of the child who was wagging her tongue and offered her hand to Yeban, who was pouting his lips. He shouldn’t be called Yesban, but that doesn’t work well.

“Yes…”

She stopped screaming and pursed her lips.

“Joseph is fine too.”

I couldn’t hide my trembling voice. She just smiled brightly and hoped the children wouldn’t notice. The child hesitated and took my hand. Likewise, he held that small hand preciously. I tried to catch my trembling breath and let out my voice.

“From now on… please take care of me.”

I will never miss this little hand. Liev and Josef made eye contact at the low greeting. The children soon folded their big eyes and smiled brightly.

“Huh!”

“Please take care of us.”

I hugged the brightly smiling children and my younger siblings into my arms without realizing it. I bit my lip at the feel of her hair under my fingertips.

“Marchen?”

“Now, let’s go in.”

I tilted my head and held Liev and Josef’s hands again as they asked. It wasn’t until I got up that I met the red eyes that made me think, “Oops.” The quiet eyes were like Marchen’s eyes seen in the mirror.

I asked, squeezing the small hand that was in my hand as he was staring at me intently.

“Do you have something to say?”

“No, ma’am.”

Ainz looked below me, at Liev and Josef, then looked at me again. His lips moved slowly.

“Fortunately.”

I didn’t know what I was relieved about. Ainz Raineswain was a person whose emotions and thoughts were much more difficult to discern than what she saw in Marchen’s memories. Liev stopped and extended his hand to Ainz.

“Isn’t Ainz coming with you?”

“Go in first.”

When Liev asked, extending her hand, Ainz slightly turned her steps and said. Ainz never held the child’s hand. Ainz walked away from us along with the approaching knight of Lysia. Liev pouted his sullen face.

“He said he would show us around the mansion.”

“Liev, do you want to see the mansion?”

“Huh!”

Her sullen face brightened up at my words. I smiled brightly at the child.

“Let’s go. There are a lot of fun things to do.”

There was a day when I left my parents and left, holding my younger siblings’ hands. The day before I went to my relative’s house, as we walked through the dark sky and the sun had set, I told my younger siblings a fairy tale I had read as a child. At that time, my younger siblings asked when I told them that the princess and the prince lived happily ever after. What was happiness?
