I Became the Obsessive Male Lead’s Ex-Wife

CHAPTER 041: Pervin and Irwen's past

Ibelin stared at him as if nothing had happened. In fact, he was trying hard to pretend he was okay, but it was more like he was acting. At all times, Ferwin Carlisle was a beastly man. His honest and reckless outbursts of his emotions were something that Belin always admired and despised.

‘The Duke of Carlisle, he… It’s different from me who always hides my emotions.’

As Belin’s sky-blue eyes looked solely at Pervin, her hidden anger gradually deepened, and it seemed as if she was resentful. Pervin read the resentment in his eyes and gave him an arrogant look, as if she knew it would happen. At this moment, Ibelin seemed to have gone back to that time with Pervin. That time was the origin of everything. Back to the time when Pervin, a young man with a strong personality, was courting Irwen.

* * *

Five years ago, by Duke Lilias. In a spacious garden, a man and a woman are sitting in the blazing heat. It was Pervin who knelt down and offered her a bunch of lilies of the valley, and Ir Wen, whose face was stiff but who could not take her eyes off him. The war between the Theresia Empire and the Duchy of Verma had long since ended, and it had already been a long time since the Duke of Carlisle and Princess Lilias agreed to an arranged marriage as a sign of peace. The necessary documents were exchanged, and Irwen’s luggage was moved to the Duke of Carlisle’s residence. It was not a marriage made out of love; it was just a contract marriage concluded through a treaty between countries. That’s why it’s hard to believe that Perwin runs to Irwen every day as if he’s courting her. Irwen stared in disbelief at Pervin, her face red. Where had she hidden the force that swept away the battlefield? Pervin seemed like a docile kitten in front of Irwen. It’s not the first time she’s been this close to a woman, but this is the first time she’s had the woman she likes in front of her and her heart is pounding like crazy. I wonder if that could be the reason. During that time, she was the one who kept many women up at night with her good looks, and she was the one who broke many women’s hearts. But she couldn’t be more embarrassed than this in front of Irwen. He wanted to do anything for the one woman who occupied his heart. He managed to keep his expression calm, but his raised ears seemed to represent his embarrassed and overwhelmed emotions.

“Hmm.”

He sheepishly held out a lovely bouquet of flowers. It was a flower that he bought and packaged with great care. He hid a ring inside it to propose. Although it was an arranged marriage, it was his own dream. Proposing to the woman you love by giving her flowers and a ring. The moment Pervin got down on her knees and was about to tell her something. Irwen’s eyes, his dark hair loosely braided, were filled with confusion. A blush waved across his white face like a sunset. As if trying to hide her true feelings, she struck her bow with venom in her eyes.

“How many times have I told you that I don’t need flowers from you? All these things you do for me are tormenting me.”

Her last words trembled as if they were not her true intentions. Pervin’s face was seen turning pale as she knelt on one of her knees. But Irwen outwardly maintained his disdain. Pervin Carlisle was an invader who quickly conquered the Duchy of Verma, and she was the one who forced her brother to bow his head. It was embarrassing to see such a man blushing in front of him and shaking his heart. Everything was confusing. But Irwen struggled to control her shaking. He thought that if he accepted his intention to tarnish his brother’s honor, he would be betraying the Duchy of Verma and her brother. It was an instant before she snatched the bouquet from Pervin’s hand. Before he could do anything, she instantly threw the bouquet on the floor. And in an instant, the ring hidden in the bouquet fell to the floor. The ring splattered on the stone floor in the garden and stopped rolling. The ring, which was surrounded by white platinum and had a ruby as an accent, was breathtakingly beautiful. A flush of regret appeared on Irwen’s pale face. She hurriedly bent down to pick up the ring. The moment she reached out her hand to return her ring to Pervin. Pervin’s fingers touched hers as he reached out to pick up her ring. Irwen bit her lip, as if electrocuted by her. As her Pervin raised her body, the shadow of a sturdy body a head taller than her own covered her. Irwen could not turn her head from Pervin’s green eyes, which bound her own gaze.

“Could it be that things you dislike include rings? I brought this ring to propose to you.”

His voice sounded fascinating. Enough to relieve Irwen’s poisonous heart. So Irwen deliberately gritted his teeth even more.

“I hate everything that comes from you. And, I’ve told you several times that I have an ideal type, and that if I do things like this, you will never be my favorite.”

Pervin’s sweet eyes were instantly covered with coldness.

“Is your ideal type that damn Count Rune?”

“You know what? I will never like him.”

“If it was him, I would have gotten rid of it right away. No, I could even challenge him to a duel and kill him right away.”

This wasn’t the first time she had heard this, but each time Irwen blushed.

“Duke Carlisle, Ibelin is not someone who should be treated like that. You are like my teacher…”

“Even though I call that man by his name, I am still the Duke of Carlisle.”

Irwen’s eyes widened at the sudden change in topic. No, perhaps it was because Pervin’s eyes were extremely lonely and at the same time full of her jealousy, eyes she had never seen before.

“Duke…”

“Not the duke, but Pervin.”

Pervin touched her body for the first time. Even though she put her hands on her waist and applied just a little bit of pressure, she was pulled into his arms as if she had fit into his arms.

“You know how much I wanted you to call my name, how much I begged you to do so.”

Irwen was seen looking up at him in confusion. Opening her blue eyes wide, she met his deepening green eyes in confusion. Pervin gently touched her lips with her slender fingers. She had a slow and gentle touch.

“Irwen. Will you call my name?”

Irwen’s eyes shook greatly. It was clear that Pervin Carlisle was an aggressor from her birth. Not only has he swallowed her country in one fell swoop, he has also swallowed her heart whole. Irwen touched her lips as if exhaling her sweet breath.

“Pervin.”

Pervin’s eyes widened beautifully, as if she had expected that to happen.

He did not want to show his shameful appearance jumping for joy in front of the woman he loved, so he tried to calm down. Instead, he put on an arrogant mask.

“Good job.”

Irwen found herself falling for Pervin’s temptation without realizing it. Even though she resented herself for stepping into his temptation, she fell in love with his touch. Irwen bit her lip hard as she met his green eyes looking down at her. If she continued to look into his eyes, she felt like her true feelings would be revealed. My immature heart beats helplessly just by being next to him. Her pride wouldn’t allow her to reveal her true feelings, so she decided to wear a mask.

“Let me go.”

“What if you don’t want to let go?”

“We’re not in this relationship yet.”

“It’s not like this. I am your husband-to-be, and right now I am wooing you more passionately than anyone else.”

As Irwen’s face turned white, Pervin’s lips trembled. It was the moment when the mask that showed an arrogant yet intimidating appearance collapsed. His heart, which had broken a thousand times, fell again. So he had no choice but to do this. He held her wide in his arms, and he cupped her lips with his hot breasts. Facing Irwen, who was still and embarrassed in her arms, Pervin buried his pale face in her hair.

“It’s okay to hate me, it’s okay to hate me. However, please don’t stop me from liking you.”

“…”

“You are the first woman who has shaken my heart this much, and you are the first woman I want to cling to this much. It breaks her heart to be hated by you like that, but what should I do with me, who is so full of my heart that I don’t know what to do?”

As soon as she felt something moist flowing around her eyes, Pervin quickly pulled her body away from Irwen. I could see an inexplicable emotion stirring in her gaze as she looked at him. As a single unwiped tear rolled down her white cheek, Irwen bit her lip and took her handkerchief from him. As he wiped the tears from her cheeks with her handkerchief, she became even closer to him. Her cheeks were bursting red, and her eyes, which only looked at her, were bloodshot and filled with tears. Pervin’s lips were sweet.

“It’s shameful to come here to woo him and then cry.”

Irwen raised a finger to his face. A soft voice that he had never heard before flowed out inadvertently.

“There’s no shame in crying…”

Irwen unconsciously dabbed at the corners of his reddened eyes with her fingers, then looked at his slightly parted lips. Pervin caught her hand as it came up to her own face. The large man’s hand covered the white woman’s hand. There was heavy tension between the two. One step closer he came. That was when her lips became so close that she could hear his hot breath. Irwen pushed him away. She covered half of her face with her hands and ran to the other side of the garden with her feet covered.

* * *

Pervin slowly stood up. In her hands she held a messed up bouquet of flowers and a ring. She had expected this to happen anyway. Still, can we say that seeing Irwen’s flushed face was at least an achievement? Of course, it was too embarrassing to see the bottom of herself.

“It’s not that he hates flowers.”

Pervin jerked her head. This Belin appeared around her corner, walking towards her in her white uniform. In his hand, he was holding a book titled “Royal Court Etiquette.” He bowed his head to Pervin to show respect.

“Even when class time was up, Her Majesty didn’t come, so I came to see her, but I had no idea she was with Lord Carlisle.”

Pervin added disapprovingly.

“Shouldn’t I call you Duchess now?”

“…”

There was a moment of silence. Ibelin was staring at him blankly. Then she blinked as she came face to face with Pervin’s intimidating green eyes. She seemed to be holding back what she wanted to say.

“Okay then.”

Just as Pervin was about to turn around and leave her garden. A low voice came from behind.

“It will probably be difficult for His Highness the Duke to win the princess’s heart.”

“What?”

In an instant Pervin turned her sturdy body towards him. Ibelin continued speaking as if nothing had happened.

“That much is to be expected. Because I know her better than anyone else. She doesn’t know about her past life and who her ideal partner is.”

* * *

As Pervin finished her reminiscence, the sounds of the noisy banquet hall reached her ears. She looked at Ibelin, her sharp green eyes flashing. That man who always offended me, that cunning tutor, came here as an ambassador. What, you pay special attention to diplomacy between Theresia and Verma? There’s only one thing you care about. I care about my wife, Irwen.

“You paid too much attention to Irwen in the past, and you still do that now.”

“It is natural to pay attention to your lord’s younger sister, Princess Lilias.”

“Before you were Duke Lilias’ younger sister, now you are my wife and my family.”

Pervin leaned over and whispered cruelly into Ibelin’s ear.

“In the past, she used her mouth rudely at Duke Lilias, but I guess she still hasn’t gotten over that habit, so now you’ll have to be careful.”

Ibelin lifted her head arrogantly.

“I didn’t expect His Highness the Duke to care about the past.”

Pervin retorted, snorting at her.

“It’s rare to find a person who has behaved so rudely towards me.”

His tone of voice was calm, but his handsome face was pale with anger, unable to hide his emotions.

“I will warn you one last time. Please do not make unnecessary contact with Irwen.”

“I am the ambassador of the Duchy of Verma, and it is my duty to look after the Duchess of Carlisle, the only sister of my lord, the Duke of Lilias.”

“That would be my job.”

As Pervin spoke to him in an overbearing tone, Ibelin obediently bowed her head. As if she didn’t want to have any more unnecessary arguments, the moment he joined the others, Pervin let out a helpless sigh.

“Damn it. Why is that man…”

He had finally become closer to Irwen, so why did you show up? He quickly left the banquet hall and walked to his office.

“Are you back?”

The guards guarding his office greeted him. He quickly sat down at his desk without even bothering to be greeted. He picked up a piece of clean parchment and hastily wrote the letter. And he called the guards and asked them to do it.

“Hurry and take this to the messenger, and tell him to deliver it to the Duchess of Carlisle immediately. Hurry!”

“I understand, Your Highness.”

The guards hurried out. Only then did Pervin relax a little. He sat back in his chair and blinked sharply. Would he rather make an excuse and go home early? The moment he woke up, Marquis Celestine came into the office and delivered the message.

“Pervin, have you forgotten that we are jointly practicing open training with Sir Dobre today? I heard you were supposed to watch the training I was supposed to show in front of Count Rune two days later.”

“Oh, it was like that.”

My plan to get home early ended in vain. Swallowing a bitter smile, he quickly changed from his uniform to his training clothes. That’s when he left the office and entered the corridor leading to the training ground. In contrast to the sunny sky, he was anxious. For some reason, I had a strange feeling.

“Ha…”

As Pervin was walking down the hallway, he collapsed in the middle. His face was tense and extremely pale. If Irwen sees Ibelin and feels affectionate again, he will…

“I’m going to cry.”

ervin covered his mouth at the unexpected sentence that came out of his own mouth. Why was it said that he cried? Still, we cannot deny that this is our true intention. Irwen was weak at the sight of him crying, and would do anything to monopolize his wife’s heart. If soaking in her cries is something that will get her wife’s attention, her attention, her affection, then of course.

* * *

A scorpion came from the imperial palace, and when I opened it, it was Pervin’s scorpion. However, it was full of incomprehensible sentences.

-Do not let anyone into the house. Even if it’s the person you’ve been dying to see, please. Who do I want to see? So it’s Pervin? She told me not to let her into the house? I ended up calling Mrs. Tilly.

“Mrs. Tilly, come here. Pervin sent me an urgent message, but I couldn’t understand it at all.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Mrs. Tilly came up to me. We looked at the letter from Pervin for a while. I didn’t notice the anxiety rising on Mrs. Tilly’s face behind me. I was just curious about the intention of this letter. The only person I want to see is Pervin, so why did I send this letter?

“Who could this be? Don’t you know that there is only one person I miss so much?”

“That… Well, how dare I know what my master means.”

Mrs. Tilly answered, breaking into a cold sweat. She got up quickly. The rapid loss of blood color seemed really painful.

“Where does it hurt, Mrs. Tilly?”

“No, thanks.”

“Don’t endure the pain, go to the kitchen and take some medicine.”

At that time, the door burst open. Alfred reported kneeling down to me, his face turning pale.

“Count Rune, the new ambassador of the Principality of Verma, has arrived. He wants to see his wife right now.”
