Ibelin gazed at the sparkling ring on her left hand and recalled her past again. For about two months she taught her various manners and taught her court manners. She also taught her how to deal with the many eyes that envied her for her meteoric rise from a lowly maid to a noble princess. She taught him many things, but he loved her so much, especially her awkwardness in dancing and singing. Although she was still cold to others, Irwen gradually became more comfortable in front of him, and she was immersed in his heart before he knew it.
“Except for my brother and the duchess, everyone here is cold to me. If it weren’t for you, I would probably have grown cold and lonely.”
How much I wanted to shout these words after hearing those words from the young lady.
-You are the only reason I live my life. So stay with me in the future…
Ibelin shook her head vigorously. As she recalled her irreversible past, her eyes, which had become warm, had suddenly become cold. Within a month of hearing those words from her, she became the Duchess of Carlisle. From then on he groaned. She was sick for three full months, and she was so ill that everyone thought she was going to die. Even after her miraculous recovery, she spent nearly four years trying to rehabilitate her body. When the pain in her heart almost healed from just hearing her name, he couldn’t stop his own eyes from returning to her again. She had to see with his own eyes whether the woman she married in a foreign country was living well and happy. In fact, she could tell that she was happily living her life, as she received news from Duke Lilias, who had recently visited her residence at the Duke of Carlisle. The Duke and Duchess of Carlisle, who radiated as much love as her newlyweds, could never have looked so lovely. When Belin heard the news, she felt a deep pain in her heart. She certainly thought that if Irwen was happy, she would be happy, but instead, she felt as if a corner of her heart had been cut out. She felt pathetic and hated herself for thinking like this, but once her heart was cut out, it could not be easily recovered. He just wanted to see Irwen. Crossing her legs and sighing deeply, Belin pulled back the curtains of her carriage to look outside, and looked around her, feeling a strange sense of déjà vu. The signs guiding her route pointed to strange places. He hurriedly asked the coachman above him.
“Where are we going? I think I took a wrong turn.”
An unfamiliar voice answered his question.
“We’re on the right track, Sir.”
“What?”
Ibelin quickly opened the window and looked up where her coachman would be. An unfamiliar servant faced him and gave him a suspicious look.
“The Count’s coachman is safe at our duke’s mansion, don’t worry.”
“What on earth is this…”
A large villa visible in front of him. There, flags bearing Sibelom’s emblem were waving here and there. This place is filled with purple poppies. Ibelin was dumbfounded and muttered to herself.
“I should have been on alert in advance, but I let my guard down.”
The place they arrived at was Sibelom’s villa.
* * *
This place is located in a field of reeds surrounded by several layers. Contrary to the shabby exterior, the interior could not be more luxurious. Tapestries on the walls, carpets decorated with pearls, and various pieces of furniture made from well-maintained expensive old wood. When Ibelin arrived, he saw a slim boy running towards him, dropping the rope as if he had been released from someone’s bonds. He knelt down in front of Ibelin and cried.
“Master, I was foolish enough to be caught here and commit a deadly crime. At the checkpoint, someone blocked my mouth and kidnapped me…”
“No, Tom. You are safe, so that’s it.”
Ibelin turned the boy back and protected him. Sibelom came down from the second floor in disheveled clothes. Behind him, I saw the blonde Rosamund sticking out from the stairs. Not even bothering to cover her breasts flowing through her loose gown, she smiled her eyes at Ibelin and waved her hand.
“Oh my, my handsome brother is here. I’ve never seen such a pretty oppa other than the Duke of Carlisle.”
In response to the woman’s frivolous attitude, Ebelin took pains to control her facial expression. Sibelom flicked her silver hair and she held out her hand to Ibelin.
“Welcome, Count Rune. Was the way there comfortable?”
“It’s strange that such a thing is said even after kidnapping our master like this.”
“Tom.”
When the coachman muttered behind him, Ibelin tried to warn the boy. She was the one to show her respect by kissing the back of Sibelom’s hand, but she still had to say what she had to say.
“It would be rude to come here first without telling your Majesty. You have to report first.”
“The news won’t reach your brother anyway.”
Ibelin lifted her face to meet Sibel Lom. Any time I saw this guy, he was the height of shamelessness. Seeing Ibelin’s face clearly revealed as if she had no intention of hiding her expression, Cybelom looked at her with amusement.
“We can’t talk in detail at the front door, so let’s go inside and talk about it.”
* * *
After urging her frightened coachman to give her some good tea to calm her down, Ibelin entered Sibelom’s study. This is not my first time seeing Sibelom. I had seen her face while attending a ball held by the emperor in commemoration of peace with the Theresia Empire. I was impressed by how he tried to exaggerate his achievements even though he had done nothing. Although he was also impressive with Pervin, who took most of the credit but didn’t step up. Anyway, Sibelom was an uncomfortable and undesirable man. But why did he call him here? Ibelin tried to control his discomfort and accepted the wine he gave him. Sibelom laughed out loud looking at him.
“Why, are you afraid I’ve been poisoned?”
“No.”
“I made some mistakes in bringing you here, but I am not stupid enough to poison you.”
“I’m glad you know.”
Sibelom unconsciously frowned at Ibelin’s sarcastic attitude. He, along with Carlisle, was also a difficult man to deal with. If Carlisle was sharp and cool like a sword he had forged countless times, Ibelin was a well-polished and shiny shield. He was a man whose true nature was unknown. His tone of voice was soft, his expression was refreshing, and his beauty was so neat that it could not be surpassed by any woman, but his true feelings were always unknown. Watching Ibelin drink wine in silence, Sibelom also drank a glass of wine without hesitation. He was still and motionless, but Sibelom noticed that his face had turned white. Baron Rassendyll used to say, he’d rather just attack a shady man like Ibelin. Sibelom blurted out.
“We will have a common goal, so I called you in advance, because we will have to work together.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Your Highness.”
“Pervin may not know this, but I am very picky about these things. you.”
Ibelin looked at Sibelom approaching her. Sibelom bowed deeply to him, letting her gown fall forward. He whispered in a sly voice.
“Have you no feelings for the Duchess of Carlisle? No, as far as I know, it is currently in progress.”
Ibelin’s face turned pale. There is no evidence, so how could he know this? Okay, let him calm down again. All you have to do is insist that it is speculation without evidence anyway. Sibelom grinned as if he had caught the trick.
“There is no shame in having feelings for a married woman. Rather, it is noble and valuable. “There is no act more beautiful than overcoming many hardships and sharing love.”
No matter how many times she heard Sibelom’s outrageous words, she never got used to them, but this time, Ibelin resented herself for not being able to completely deny him. He gritted his teeth and refuted with difficulty.
“This is nonsense. She is the wife of His Royal Highness the Duke of Carlisle, and the only sister of His Royal Highness the Duke of Lilias, my lord and ruler of Verma.”
“Okay, let’s say that’s the case. I’m interested in Lady Irwen anyway, so it would be better if I didn’t have a rival.”
Ibelin’s face became increasingly pale. The sound of his heart pounding was loud enough to be heard in his ears. Why is this guy saying this? Sibelom took a sip of wine as if nothing had happened. The sight of him licking a drop of wine from his thin lips looked like a snake. He looked at Ibelin and said.
“Anyway, we all know that you are trying to get Irwen away from Pervin.”
“No. I sincerely wish the Duchess a happy married life.”
“You wouldn’t want to clash with the invader Carlisle, would you? Would you welcome it if she gave birth to Carlisle’s child? Does she want to spend her whole life rubbing against each other and being his plaything? Calm?”
Ibelin tried to hide her feelings by lowering her head. It was obvious that Sibelom was trying to provoke himself by using provocative words. But even just imagining it made her unable to hide the stirring of her emotions. Sibelom grinned and clinked glasses with him.
“Anyway, welcome, Count Rune. I am truly willing to help you, so please keep that in mind.”
“I guess I should watch my mouth. “I’m worried what might happen if I accidentally leak this conversation to Your Majesty.”
“Well, can you really do that? I’m probably the only person here who can help you. “Didn’t you want to get Lady Irwen away from Carlisle?”
“She just wants to be happy for herself.”
“Hey, why are you being so inflexible? So does that mean I can tell the Duke of Carlisle right now? The fact that you, Ambassador Verma, have feelings for Lady Irwen?”
Ibelin and Sibelom looked at each other. Although they clearly did not have a favorable relationship with each other, they were able to exploit each other’s weaknesses. This Belin took a gulp of wine to clear her complicated mind.

“Hitch!”
Sneezing that occurs suddenly while sleeping. Who talks about me? I grabbed the blanket and curled up because of the sudden chill. It was clear that it was early morning, as I could hear chirping birds and see the warm sunlight streaming in. I tried to grab the blanket with my fingers, but it wouldn’t pull. I struggled, feeling as if I was stuck in something, but I was steadfast.
“Why is this like this…”
As I muttered to myself, warm breath softly rang in my ears. Pervin smiled as she met me with her languid eyes.
“Did you sleep well, Irwen?”
“Oh my goodness!”
My vision was filled with mischievous green eyes. His green eyes, which were usually pale, became dark with affection. I was trapped in his arms, mouth agape in shock. I spent the night at the imperial palace, and why was Pervin next to me when he should have been there? He was so busy with work that he slept in the palace’s office and said he would only come home this evening. Of course, I didn’t know that he stayed up all night, rode a horse back to the mansion at dawn, and lay down next to me for a while. In a completely unexpected situation, I stared at him. Pervin whispered lazily, running his slender fingers through my hair.
“My wife sleeps so well that it’s a problem. What should I do about this?”
His hand moved up my waist and eventually reached the nape of my neck. He pressed closer to me. His white robe was almost completely removed. He tickled my cheek with his lips and then kissed me back.
“How can you sleep like this even though I’m kissing you like this? I’m going crazy.”
That’s when he pressed against my body. I couldn’t bear the tickling and pushed him.
“Okay, wait a minute…”
Thud!
There was a loud sound that sounded like the floor was shaking. I didn’t push too hard, but Pervin fell straight under the bed. He was lying on the floor. And that too, with only a robe on his lower body, and with his bare body. He left his body bare and didn’t move at all. I froze in bed, then quickly went downstairs.
“Pervin, stop playing around and get up.”
No answer was heard. He was so startled that his heart was pounding as if it would jump out of his mouth, and his hands were shaking and he didn’t know what to do. I saw him lying motionless and shook his body, but there was no response. On the red carpet, only brilliant platinum-blonde hair was scattered helplessly. The white face was becoming pale and bloodless. Has this man really lost his mind? I quickly lowered my head and checked his breathing. I feel like I’m not resting.
“Don’t play around, really. I really hate pranks like this.”
My voice started to cry uncontrollably, so I barely held it back. My breathing became increasingly rough. I was embarrassed and tried pressing various parts of his body, but he didn’t respond. The same thing happened when I placed my hands on his chest and applied pressure to his chest. An embarrassing tension pressed strongly against my chest.
“What should I do, Pervin… Pervin!”
Even though I shouted loudly, there was no response. If you looked closely, you might have noticed that his lips were moving as if he was holding back laughter. However, a person in panic sees nothing. I got up and slapped him in the face, then got up again and ran to the door, then back to Pervin, and so on. His chest, which was heaving up and down, was still.
“How-how! Mrs. Tilly! Marianne! Pervin has fallen…”
That’s when you bend over his face. A strong man’s hand wrapped around my waist, and at the same time, a soft kiss that seemed to reassure me was given to me. On the tip of my nose, cheeks, and lips.
“It’s a joke, Irwen. You don’t notice even though I’ve been hugging you all morning, so I wanted to make my presence known at least like this.”
Pervin rolled her eyes sweetly and, as if trying to ease the situation, gave me a sweet kiss. I whimpered as I tried to avoid his frantic barrage of affection.
“Are you really okay?”
“Yeah, I heard it’s okay.”
I quickly got up from him, and he followed me. I touched various parts of his body and placed my hands on his face. Unlike before, when he was lying dead, his face was now as lively as usual. I hugged Pervin tightly and pressed my cheek to his chest, which was exposed through the robe. His heart was pounding, and I could feel that he was alive. Was it because I was relieved of the tension I had been worrying about Pervin earlier, or was it because I was angry that he had made fun of me like this? I started crying more. Just as I was about to bury my face in his arms and hold back the sobs, I heard Pervin’s worried voice.
“Are you crying?”
When I looked up from his embrace, I saw Pervin startled when he saw my face. He wiped away the flowing tears with a gentle hand, as if comforting a child.
“I’m sorry, I guess I joked too much.”
“Don’t play pranks like this again. How I cared about you…”
His touch that was glimmering on my cheek suddenly stopped. As I entrusted myself to the soft hand that lifted my chin, I saw Pervin looking down at me with wet gaze. Suddenly, I felt a tear fall down my cheek. With a sigh filled with deep emotions, he hugged me tightly.
“I’m going crazy, really.”
Now his heart was pounding so hard that he was worried, so he lifted his head. Per Wien, his white face flushed, touched his lips.
“I feel sorry for you, but I love you so much for worrying about me, it’s driving me crazy.”
Then he lowered his head and touched my lips. The feeling of our heated bodies touching each other was simply reassuring, so I hugged him tightly.
