IBDFSML Chapter 14

IBDFSML 14

“…What did you just say?”

Sion asked stiffly.

“I said I want to touch you.”

“Touch what exactly?”

“Sion.”

“……”

“More precisely, Sion’s body.”

“……”

A heavy silence fell.

Two pairs of eyes, laden with complex meanings, pierced straight into my face.

“I know it’s a bit sudden. But it’s an unavoidable step I have to take in order to find a way out of here, so I’d really appreciate your cooperation.”

“……”

Sion stared at me with a face like he’d taken a blunt hit—or more accurately, with eyes that looked at me like I was an incomprehensible alien life form.

‘Wow, that expression is kind of refreshing.’

In the original work, Sion was always described as a cold, stoic, and expressionless handsome man. Seeing this new side of him was so fascinating, I couldn’t help but chuckle a little.

“Um, Ms. Lin?”

At that moment, Garen, who had been frozen stiff alongside Sion, cautiously intervened.

“I think a bit more explanation might be necessary.”

“Hm? What kind of explanation?”

“Well, I’m not sure how things work in the fairy world, but in the human world, it’s strongly discouraged for men and women to touch each other’s bodies so casually.”

“……”

Whatever strange misunderstanding he was having, Garen’s face had turned bright red, and he began babbling nervously.

“It’s just that, because of social conventions… when a man and a woman who don’t share a clearly defined relationship engage in that kind of physical contact, it’s often seen as inappropriate… and it can sometimes lead to… irreversible developments in their relationship…”

“What are you even saying? I’m doing this purely for experimental purposes, okay? So can you not freak out and jump to weird conclusions?”

I scoffed in disbelief.

Let me say this again—this was purely an action to recharge my fangirl powers. Absolutely not for satisfying any kind of personal desire.

“…Ah, I see. It’s like that, then?”

At my confident ‘explanation'(?), Garen blinked, then let out a relieved sigh. Truly, such an innocent knight.

“My apologies, Ms. Lin. You’ve shown quite bold and daring behavior up until now, so I let my imagination run wild. Seems it was an unnecessary worry.”

“Heh, as long as you get it. Just stay put and watch quietly.”

I shook my head in disbelief and reached my hand out between the bars toward Sion, who was still frozen in place.

“Come on, Sion. Hand.”

“……”

“Hurry. I’ll just hold it, I promise.”

For some reason, a line from a cheesy, end-of-the-world B-movie popped into my head: ‘I’ll just hold your hand and sleep, I swear’.

Still, I kept a harmless smile on my face as I spoke to Sion.

A short silence followed.

Then Sion spoke in a stiff voice.

“…Is this truly a necessary act?”

“Yep.”

“…Related to fairy power?”

“Uh-huh, exactly.”

Clearly, for this 18-year-old guy who’d never even held a girl’s hand, it required a massive amount of resolve.

‘Well, it makes sense. After losing his mother when he was young, Sion probably hasn’t had any sort of physical contact with anyone. He must be completely unaccustomed to even the lightest touch.’

To ease his tension, I put on my most innocent and harmless smile, completely wiping away any selfish intentions.

Sion brushed a hand over his face with a conflicted expression and muttered.

“…Just holding hands, right?”

“Yep.”

“…And only for a very short time.”

“Yep, yep. Got it.”

Sion slowly stepped up to the cage. It was the most hesitant and passive I’d ever seen him.

With obvious reluctance, he extended his right hand toward me.

‘Gotcha!’

Like a crocodile seizing its prey the instant it gets close, I lunged and grabbed Sion’s hand.

Then, without hesitation, I began kneading his beautiful, delicate hand like it was dough.

“……!?”

“…Gasp.”

Ignoring the stiffened Sion and the sharply inhaling Garen beside him, I focused on my mission.

‘Honestly, I wanted to feel those tight, gleaming back muscles again, but for now, this hand will do… Ahem, no, that’s not what this is about.’

I pulled myself back from that dangerous train of thought and refocused.

‘Alright, let’s seriously test if physical contact with my bias really boosts my fangirl energy.’

I intensified my exploration of Sion’s hand. But as I was doing so, I still had my doubts. Is this actually going to work?

Ding—

[Event Host: Contact with your bias detected! Fangirl energy is being recharged! ^0^]

“…What the—?”

It actually worked?

Stunned by the unexpected result, I stood there in a daze.

So, let’s summarize for a second.

‘In order to continue using my fangirl fairy powers, I’ll need to regularly recharge by physically contacting Sion… right?’

“…Ha.”

Dear gods of romantic fantasy.

Dear gods of reincarnation.

Dear gods of fangirling.

Thank you.

I fought the urge to float away with joy and forced down my giddy cheeks and rising smile as I said.

“Thanks for cooperating, Sion. I think we’ve found a breakthrough because of you.”

“……”

But contrary to my expectations, Sion didn’t immediately pull his hand away after I finished talking.

“…?”

I looked up at Sion with a puzzled expression.

And then I saw it.

While his face remained stoic and stiff like a hostage, peeking out from behind his silvery-gray hair…

Were his ears—bright red.

“……”

I quietly released his hand and clapped both hands over my mouth.

‘Oh my god. He’s too cute…!’

That stone-cold northern man, the cynical and silent Sion Luxior, had turned into a blushing tomato just from holding hands!

This was gap moe at near-criminal levels.

‘Who would’ve ever imagined that Sion Luxior could have a side like this?’

Suddenly, this ridiculous possession event I’d been dropped into didn’t seem so bad anymore.

“Is… the check complete now?”

Sion asked stiffly, as if he’d just come back to his senses.

I nodded silently.

Only then did Sion finally withdraw his hand.

He let out a silent sigh with an utterly drained expression.

I beamed at him and said.

“Thanks, Sion! I’ll be asking for your help again in the future!”

“……”

A moment later, Sion, now having regained his usual composure, glanced at me with his typical indifferent expression and asked.

“So, what’s the method for getting out of that cage?”

“Ah! I’m going to break it open using my power from here on.”

“Didn’t you say before that using fairy power wasn’t possible?”

“I did—but I’ve figured out how to recharge it.”

Garen, who had been quietly listening to our conversation, spoke with wonder.

“Fairy powers seem to operate on fascinating principles. Unlike aura or divine power, which are replenished through rest, yours can be restored through another specific method. What exactly is that method?”

With a proud little smirk, I placed both hands on my hips and declared.

“It’s through periodic physical contact between me and Sion—like just now.”

“……”

“……”

Seeing their stunned expressions, I quickly added.

“Like I said, it’s not some weird or lewd kind of contact. It’s purely a special connection that only works between a fairy like me and the human I’ve chosen. You could call it a kind of destined bond. Even if I explained further, you humans probably wouldn’t get it, so just go with it, okay?”

Although I tried to keep my explanation vague yet close to the truth, both Sion and Garen looked at me with eyes full of doubt.

I shrugged and said,

“Well, if you still don’t believe me, I’ll just show you.”

I stood in front of the cage door, extended both arms confidently, and activated a skill.

“<Nothing Can Stop My Fangirling Heart>!”

Fwaaash—!

A heart-shaped light formed in my hands.

Thanks to the fangirl energy I had freshly charged, the heart was much larger and chonkier than before.

Possessed by the spirit of a dodgeball athlete, I hurled that ultra-premium heart straight at the cage door with all my might.

“Hiyahh!!!”

Thump!

The hefty heart shot forward and slammed directly into the cage door.

With a crisp clang!, the small door—about the size of my own body—went flying off into the distance.

“…Whew.”

I dusted off my hands and strolled leisurely out of the cage.

Sion and Garen’s gazes followed me as I passed, then fixed on the door that now lay on the other side of the room.

“Wooohooo!!!”

Delighted by my reclaimed freedom, I literally soared into the air. After circling the room once, I made a smooth landing on Sion’s left shoulder.

“Heheh, hohohoho. Now do you get it, Sion? In this world, nothing can stop the power of my fangirling!”

I crossed my arms and laughed triumphantly.

“Hahaha!”

But then—

Tap-tap.

A strange noise came from somewhere.

“Hm?”

Tap-tap. Tap-tap-tap.

Sion, Garen, and I all turned in unison toward the source of the sound.

“……Huh?”

Through the glass door leading to the terrace, we saw a familiar bird pecking at the glass with a very disgruntled expression.

“That guy is…!”

It was the messenger bird belonging to Noel, the head of the merchant guild… What was its name again? Per-something… Ah, whatever it was called.
