IBSSSCEA Chapter 64

Chapter 64

“Good. You seem the most suitable.”

“W-what…”

“That look in your eyes, craving power.”

The woman whispered in his ear that he, too, could gain power greater than anyone else.

If only he faithfully carried out her instructions.

The first and second sacrifices were his own sons.

He sacrificed his second son to avoid people’s suspicion.

“My wife was the most useless. She couldn’t even become a sacrifice.”

Kim Seo-min muttered lowly, gripping the altar tightly.

“Now it’s done… All that suffering ends now…”

The child on the altar was sleeping soundly, unaware of everything.

Kim Seo-min’s eyes, looking down at the child, showed not a trace of guilt.

He raised high the ritual mirror the woman had given him.

A mysterious item that absorbs children’s souls.

However, this special ritual had one condition.

To have no conscience or hesitation in harming young children.

Kim Seo-min has never failed to meet that condition.

“This, this is really the last one…!”

Just as he shouted in ecstasy and was about to bring down the mirror without hesitation, at that very moment.

“You… f*cking bastard!”

Bang!

A powerful gust of wind from somewhere struck the man’s hand hard.

The mirror flew far away and fell to the ground with a clear sound.

Kim Seo-min collapsed, clutching his hand and groaning in pain.

“Agh! Aagh… It hurts. My hand…!”

Someone was standing at the basement entrance, backlit by a dim light.

A woman with smooth, flowing black hair and clear eyes that shone even in the darkness.

She spat out harshly towards the man crying on the ground.

“Does even that little wound on your body hurt so much?”

“W-who…”

Naturally, there was no answer to that question-like question.

Instead of kindly replying, the woman dashed towards the altar like an arrow.

She still held a large magic stone in her hand.

‘Is she going to use magic again…!’

Just as Kim Seo-min was about to cower and dodge the incoming magic.

The woman, holding the stone, simply punched him in the face.

Thwack—!

💎

With a crisp sound, Kim Seo-min flew far away.

I was about to step forward to beat him more while panting, but the man gave up resisting disappointingly easily.

“Ah, it hurts… Sob. I’m sorry! I’m sorry! P-please forgive me!”

Then he spilled everything he had done even before being asked.

“Don’t hit me! It hurts!”

Seeing him quickly kneel down and beg for forgiveness so pathetically, I let out an exasperated sound.

To think that just one person like this could do that to so many children…

“You son of a… No, even that insult is too good for you. You f*cking bastard.”

Despite the curses raining down on him, Kim Seo-min just kept apologizing and begging.

After glaring at the man with contempt, I quickly turned to check on Sehun.

Fortunately, the child was just sleeping peacefully with a calm face.

I spat out words as if grinding them.

“How did you lure Sehun?”

“I, I was a sound researcher…”

He quickly answered, pathetically spewing nosebleeds from both nostrils.

“Do you know there’s a specific frequency that only children can hear?”

“I don’t, you f*cking bastard.”

“Once you become an adult, even people with good hearing can’t hear it… I used that…”

Then Sehunn’s words about ‘hearing strange sounds’ were true.

‘It wasn’t something to dismiss as separation anxiety.’

I bit my lip.

I wanted to crush the man more, but there were things I needed to hear first.

I had to take care of that quickly before my companions arrived.

“This summoning formation. This place… That woman came and did this, right?”

Hah. How did you… Agh. Don’t hit me! Yes, yes. That’s right!”

“What did that woman tell you? Did she say she’d give you power and authority?”

The moment I said those words, the man’s eyes, which had been begging pathetically, changed instantly.

“Yes… That’s right. Not just any power. Immense power!”

The man shouted with crazed eyes.

“Isn’t all this because I had no power! Power! Power… If only I had power like you people…!”

However, I had no intention of listening to the man’s lamentations.

“Shut up! How could you do such a thing… Even to your own son…!”

The man sneered at me as I shouted with a contorted face.

“Aren’t children legally the property of their parents?”

Thinking it was all or nothing now, his submissive attitude had disappeared.

“A life that wouldn’t have come into this world if it weren’t for me. So I can do whatever I want with it!”

That’s when it happened.

Over Kim Seo-min’s face, I saw Yoo Hyun-min’s face overlapping, looking down at me with a cold expression.

“Die.”

Ordering so in an utterly chilling tone.

“….If that’s the case, why did you have them?!

In a moment of overwhelming emotion, I screamed out in rage.

The sound echoed through the empty basement.

I didn’t understand myself.

Why was I suddenly like this?

I didn’t show this much emotion even in front of my father who tried to kill me, or my half-brother.

But an inexplicable resentment kept rising in my heart.

“Who asked you to have them! Why do you keep trying to control your children’s lives after bringing them into the world on your own whim!”

“Why are you asking me that?”

Kim Seo-min replied with an indifferent expression toward my wailing.

“You should go ask your own father that.”

I lowered my head deeply.

A tear that had been welling up in my eye dropped to the floor.

But this wasn’t a tear of sadness.

This was a tear of anger.

I’m going to kill him.

The moment I muttered very quietly, an urgent voice rang in my head.

[(Messenger) Indra urgently dissuades you, saying murder is absolutely forbidden and punishment should be left to causality.]

But the god’s voice didn’t reach me, already engulfed in anger and grief.

Why the hell not…?

Then why did those children have to die?

Why did that person’s son have to be born as his child?

I clenched my fist holding the fire magic stone tightly.

…Why did I have to be born as that man’s daughter?

[(Messenger) Indra urgently implores you to calm down, saying you’re in an irrational state now and shouldn’t act hastily.]

“They were children who wouldn’t have been of any help in my life anyway.”

Kim Seo-min, unaware of the situation, muttered with a vile smile even as his nose bled.

“It was rather fortunate that they could be of help to their parents even in death.”

I raised my hand, holding the fire magic stone high.

As I clenched my fist, I felt power being drawn into the magic stone.

There was no hesitation in my mind, numb with anger.

I swung my hand holding the magic stone towards Kim Seo-min.

A bright red pillar of fire shot up into the sky, then rushed at the man like a dragon with its mouth open.

“Ah…? Aagh!”

Just as that pillar of fire, emitting intense heat, was about to touch the terrified Kim Seo-min’s face.

It was a critical moment.

A blue flash of light from somewhere split the pillar of fire.

“Kyaargh!”

The split pillar of fire crashed into the wall on either side of Kim Seo-min.

The man screamed in terror, clutching his head and collapsing to the ground.

To split my full-power strike…

There was only one person around me with that kind of power.

“Noah!”

“…Baek Yi-heon?”
