<Episode 98>
“You’re the one who will die here…”
At Eveline’s words, Euros smiled brightly.
“It was truly impressive, Lady Wilden, how you pushed through the snow for the Young Duke.”
“……”
“And how you tried to run away because you didn’t want to kill.”
Eveline was confused by how he showed no visible intent to kill her. Even so, she pulled a gun from her garter belt and aimed it at him.
“In case you need reminding, I am not human. Even if I die here, I will merely be sealed away. Someday, I will awaken again.”
“……”
“So, just accept your death, Lady Wilden.”
As Euros stepped closer, Elkais drew his sword and pointed it at his throat.
“You were quite entertaining as well. Hating your own nature yet falling in love… If I hadn’t interfered, Remeros would have won.”
Hearing Euros say such words in Crown Prince Ferite’s voice made him feel utterly unfamiliar. But Elkais didn’t care.
If it meant protecting Eveline, nothing else mattered.
In fact, because of their past connection, he intended to end Euros painlessly.
“…Sorry for deceiving you, Eve.”
Abellard was saddened that he could no longer conceal his power, but survival was more important now. He released his hidden strength.
Eveline was startled to see him summon a bow but tried not to let it show.
“It’s okay.”
Even as she said that, Abellard knew it wasn’t. But as long as he could protect Eveline—
“Did you know, Lady Wilden? Abellard Wilden was fully prepared to die, leaving only you alive.”
“……”
“He drank poison without hesitation. Before you arrived here, I often saw him practicing how to die.”
“……”
“He made sure to heal himself so he wouldn’t develop resistance, then took poison again to test which one was the most lethal.”
Eveline was shocked by the revelation, recalling how knowledgeable Abellard was about poison. But she didn’t let it show.
“That doesn’t matter, Euros. What matters now is killing you and getting out of here.”
At Eveline’s words, Abellard wiped his tears and stood firm.
“I see.”
Euros smiled as he looked at Eveline intently, his gaze unwavering.
Boom!
At that moment, Euros morphed his arm and attacked.
His pitch-black arm elongated, stretching toward her.
It was Elkais’s sword that severed it. Using sword energy, he sliced through the whip-like limb.
Even though Euros’ arm was severed, it quickly regenerated, falling toward them from above.
Crash!
Bang!
As Elkais grabbed Eveline’s waist and leaped high into the air, she fired her gun at Euros.
Euros effortlessly deflected the bullets, but Eveline fired again in quick succession.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
She could feel that she didn’t need a box of bullets.
What she was shooting wasn’t mere ammunition—it was something else. Just as Elkais imbued his sword with energy, she was infusing her gun with a different kind of power.
Struck repeatedly, Euros’ arm was finally severed and fell away.
At that moment, an arrow from Abellard pierced through Euros’ shoulder.
“Ugh…!”
“Eveline! Watch out!”
At Abellard’s shout, Elkais looked down and quickly leaped away, carrying Eveline with him.
Euros’ severed arm twisted and slithered like a snake, reattaching itself to his body.
“Haha… Combat really isn’t suited for me.”
With those words, Euros reached his hand toward the sky.
Rumble…!
At that moment, black spears began to rain down from the sky like a storm.
Elkais landed on the ground, deflecting the falling spears from above, while Abellard created a shield with his divine power.
“Ugh…!”
“You let your guard down, Young Duke.”
Walking leisurely through the rain of spears, Euros suddenly thrust a spear into Abellard’s chest.
“Brother!”
“D-Die already!”
Abellard formed a dagger with his divine power and plunged it into Euros’ neck.
“Ah.”
A fountain of pitch-black blood gushed from Euros’ throat. But the wound closed as if it had never been there.
“I already told you—you three can’t defeat me.”
Euros stepped back with a relaxed smile.
Elkais watched him retreat.
For a brief moment, he felt like he was no longer Elkais de Robein. With Remeros’ power and intellect fully absorbed, he somehow already understood exactly what kind of being Euros was. Order and chaos had always loathed each other.
The innate hatred felt so overwhelming that just seeing Euros smile filled him with disgust.
Remeros’ memories showed him how Euros had devoured countless creations with gluttonous greed.
And Elkais found Euros’ strange attitude toward Eveline particularly disturbing.
A beast that had always acted out of hunger was now speaking to Eveline like an intelligent being.
The Euros he knew would have attacked without explanation, simply consuming everything. Yet, Euros had shattered the gods’ wager, making everyone losers while claiming victory for himself.
“Haha. Look at that—you’re making the same expression as Remeros.”
At that moment, Euros’ mouth stretched unnaturally wide, and from within, a massive serpent emerged. It slithered rapidly up Elkais’ leg, aiming for his throat.
Bang!
Eveline fired at the serpent. As it fell to the ground, more spears rained down from above.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
So many fell that the ground was soon covered in a sea of black spears.
“Brother! Behind you!”
Since Elkais had been holding Eveline, she had a clear view of Abellard. Behind him, a giant serpent had its jaws wide open.
Bang! Bang!
Eveline fired at the serpent’s head while Abellard summoned a long spear and thrust it into the creature’s mouth.
“Brother!”
But in the very next moment, Abellard tore the serpent’s jaws apart and emerged.
The creature’s head, split open like a flower bud, went limp and collapsed to the ground.
Black liquid, thick and vile, dripped down Abellard’s forehead, covering his pink hair.
Bang!
Eveline shot Euros in the shoulder and spoke.
“Surrender and allow yourself to be sealed.”
“Ah, that really hurts.”
Euros grimaced in pain.
Eveline’s bullets contained the power of Dekarv, the god of destruction. The wound she inflicted burned painfully, and before long, his shoulder began to disintegrate into ash.
Watching his body melt away, Euros let out a bitter laugh.
“I’ll leave your soul intact, Lady Wilden, even after your death. So why not just surrender?”
“Don’t talk nonsense.”
Bang!
Before she even finished speaking, Eveline fired at his other shoulder.
Now missing both arms, Euros stood still, resembling a Venus de Milo statue, staring at Elkais and Eveline.
“Really. I promise.”
“Why are you saying that?”
“Well…”
Eveline almost shot him in the head but hesitated when she saw his smile.
“I’ve never seen anyone like you—someone who accepts sacrifice so naturally, yet isn’t weak.”
“……”
“You’re strong, yet you willingly sacrifice yourself. You’re the first soul I’ve seen like that.”
“Stop talking nonsense.”
“It’s true. That’s why Dekarv cherished you as his masterpiece.”
Euros let out a regretful laugh as he stepped toward Eveline.
Elkais placed Eveline back on the ground and raised his sword, glaring at Euros.
“Most of what Euros says is a lie, Eveline. Don’t believe him.”
“For once, I’m telling the truth. I swear upon my divine essence.”
The three who had inherited the gods’ power could tell that Euros wasn’t lying.
“Then why didn’t you shoot me back then?”
Even as Euros asked, Eveline kept her gun trained on him.
He was talking about that time—the moment she had been transported to another island and first met Crown Prince Ferite.
Back then, she had realized Dekarv’s will and had aimed her gun at his throat, ready to end him in the easiest way possible.
But she hadn’t been able to pull the trigger.
“You were the one who told me not to be controlled by the gods’ will.”
Euros smiled in satisfaction.
“No. Even if I hadn’t said that, you still wouldn’t have shot me, would you?”
“I just shot you twice. Don’t say such nonsense.”
“Now, yes. But only because you know I won’t die from it.”
“……”
“The Dekarv who brought you here from the other world has already broken the rules once, do you realize that?”
Eveline didn’t react much—she knew there was no way Euros didn’t already know she was from another world.
“Well then, how about this?”
Euros regenerated his arm and reached toward Eveline. Though it retained the shape of a human hand, its pitch-black color was far from anything human.
Because of that, Eveline found him even less human than before.
“I’ll send you back to your original world. It’s safe there, unlike here.”
“What are you…”
Eveline stared at his hand, then at his face.
“I’m joking.”
“Ugh…!”
His hand transformed into a spear and pierced straight through Eveline’s chest.
